I Am the Flag
I am the flag of the United States of America.
My name is Old Glory. I fly atop the world's tallest buildings. I stand watch in America's halls of justice. I fly majestically over institutions of learning. I stand guard with power in the world. Look up and see me.
I stand for peace, honor, truth and justice. I stand for freedom. I am confident. I am arrogant. I am proud. When I am flown with my fellow banners, My head is a little higher, My colors a little truer. I bow to no one! I am recognized all over the world. I am worshipped - I am saluted. I am loved - I am revered. I am respected - I am feared.
I have fought in every battle of every war for more than 200 years. I was flown at Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Shiloh and Appamatox. I was there at San Juan Hill, the trenches of France, in the Argonne Forest, Anzio, Rome and the beaches of Normandy. Guam, Okinawa, Korea and KheSan, Saigon, Vietnam know me. I was there. I led my troops. I was dirty, battleworn and tired, but my soldiers cheered me and I was proud.
I have been burned, torn and trampled on the streets of countries I have helped set free. It does not hurt for I am invincible. I have been soiled upon, burned, torn and trampled in the streets of my country. And when it's done by those whom I've served in battle - it hurts. But I shall overcome - for I am strong. I have slipped the bonds of earth and stood watch over the uncharted frontiers of space from my vantage point on the moon. I have born silent witness to all of America's finest hours. But my finest hours are yet to come. When I am torn into strips and used as bandages for my wounded comrades on the battle field, when I am flown at halfmast to honor my soldier, or when I lie in the trembling arms of a grieving parent at the grave of their fallen son or daughter,
I am proud. I am the flag of the United States of America.
Sure is ..time to show our colors.

OMG. This is so depressing and outdated. The world’s tallest buildings are in Asia. America’s halls of justice block prayer and celebrate homosexuality in spite of the voters’ wishes. They certified Obamacare’s legality by changing it into a tax. Our institutions of learning are centers of indoctrination for the global communist community. They instruct our daughters to be whores and to kill their babies. They keep our sons out so there can be room for unqualified minorities and foreigners. Our power is so weak that mobs kill our ambassadors and raise the flags of the new Barbary pirates over an embassy in Libya.
I wish that Obama would change the flag so I could properly hate it, instead of desecrating Old Glory by flying it over any building in Washington DC.
This is part of a script for a flag ceremony. As a young adult, I was involved with the American Legion (because of my dad). The Junior Auxiliary would go around to some school campuses and we would present this program. I vividly remember being behind the curtain as others would do a “light show” of the American flag as I read the script of being the flag called Old Glory. That was in the 70s. I don’t believe that schools allow such programs anymore, nor are the youth ever involved in the American Legion auxiliaries. Long for those days again.
Sorry, flying the Gadsden Flag daily.
From the 70’s? That makes sense. But today, it reads like some pathetic high school jock bragging about the big touchdown 30 years ago that was the crowning acheivement of his life. The America of that script was killed off by the welfare state and corporate greed many years ago.

First Navy Jack for me. Its more subtle.
I'm sorry you have already given up on America. My Grandchildren will be deeply saddened to hear it. I've been telling them that "it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings"!
It was an old script in the 70s. The first sentence includes “for 8 score years” which would be 160 years. 1930s?

Something will rise from the ashes after America has its “reset”. But, the America that you remember is gone and your grandchildren will never live in the great nation that you and I grew up in. Perhaps they will build a great nation or perhaps they will live as slaves in the Planet of the Apes, but it is far better to teach them to recognize reality and to build on that instead of reminiscing about the glory days and pretending that those days are still with us.
The fat lady has been singing for a decade or more and no one is listening. We could have reversed the course in the 1990s or after 9/11, but we continued to outsource jobs for immediate profits, we shoved God into a corner of the week, and we imagined that we can save the planet by polluting the other side of the world so we could pretend that we are “green”. We borrowed money we can’t repay to buy gas from our enemies so we could drive vehicles that are bigger and more powerful than they have ever been as our families shrunk to the smallest ever.
I didn’t “give up”. I “grew up”.
Struck the Colors on the day the Surpreme Court found Obamacare constitutional and will not re-post until we have an “American” in the White House again.
I have posted the Gadsen flag and and it shall wave until then.
My flag will go back up on Nov. 7th I hope . I’ll do my part .
I will only fly my flag upside down until this monstrosity of Obama is gone. Be it 3 months or 4 years. FUBO!
We fly ours 24/7. In the summer, no problem, we have 24 hours or daylight. Otherwise the flag flies right under a security light which illuminates it in the dark of night.
