LIFEBOAT

One of the great World War II films was LIFEBOAT, about the ordeal faced by survivors of a passenger ship that was sunk by a Nazi U-Boat in the middle of the Atlantic. The film details their struggle for survival in a small lifeboat, fighting the elements, thirst and then fighting against each other. Each person has their own ideas about how to navigate the little boat: they argue about who should be in charge; and they find little things to fight over even when they run out of things to fight over. Eventually they come to understand that their only hope is in putting aside their differences and working toward the common goal of survival. They learn that they cannot possibly get the boat to safety unless they all adopt that unifying goal.

In a sense the entire world is a LIFEBOAT, and we are all like the survivors in that film. We cannot solve the great problems which confront humanity--hunger, disease and war--unless we unite in a common effort to find meaningful remedies to these plagues. It is also true in every other sphere of life, in the family and in the workplace. When people unite to achieve common goals, and are willing to give and take, and think of each other's needs...then there is no limit to the good things they can accomplish together. As Frank Purdue once said: "There's no limit to the quality you can build into a chicken".

Chaplain Mitch Schranz

Amazing Grace
(Click)

By John Newton

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind, but now I see.
.
’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, .
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!
.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,
I have already come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,
And grace will lead me home.
.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His Word my hope secures;
He will my Shield and Portion be,
As long as life endures.
.
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess, within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.
.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine.
.
When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’d first begun.

DEAR LORD, who suffered torment, agony, and death upon the Cross to free our souls from the chains of iniquity, protect and defend our troops. Guide them in the performance of their duties. Strengthen them to endure hardship, danger and deprivation in Your service. Let their efforts free the people of Iraq and Afghanistan from the chains of terror and slavery, foster a lasting peace in the region, and bring all to a greater share in Your Mercy.

Amen.

Linda has a full length fur coat. It handles the rain well, and fluffs dry.

I have a good sensible Republican Cloth Coat, and carry an umbrella.

I have some nice neighbors in my new place. God is Good.

With an apology to Tony Evans (a black pastor in the Dallas/Fort Worth area) I Quote:

“We came over in different ships, but now we are all in the same boat”

He is right! His ancestors came over in Slavers - mine came over in "coffin ships" after An Gorta Mor - but we're all in the same boat now, indeed!

So, so true, however, some have not yet realized that fact!

Good evening, teen...*HUGS*

A Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

All your Marines well?

High winds again today here. A neighbor stepped in and took down our pine tree before it fell on his driveway and/or garage. I’m working on getting some pictures.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Marines are doing well. One in Afghanistan, one stateside, and the other is getting out in 2 weeks. Says it's just not what he wants as things have changed so much!

Must be real nasty weather going on up there! Stay clear of the trees. Great kind of neighbor to have.

“We came over in different ships, but now we are all in the same boat”.

Fabulous quote...too bad so many refuse to see the need for that boat today.

A Blessed Lord's Day to you and yours.
