Stephen Harper, Benjamin Netanyahu to meet in New York City

OTTAWA - Prime Minister Stephen Harper will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this week in New York City.

Harper will be in the Big Apple to receive an award Thursday evening from the Appeal of Conscience Foundation, a group which advocates for religious freedom and human rights around the world. The group is giving Harper its World Statesman Award on Thursday night.

On Friday morning, Harper and Netanyahu are scheduled to meet where they will almost certainly talk about Iran and unrest in the Middle East.

Netanyahu will be in New York to speak to the United Nations General Assembly on Thursday.

Though Harper will be in New York during the week when world leaders address the General Assembly, he will not speak to the UN, letting Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird take Canada's speaking slot next Monday.

Meanwhile, both Netanyahu and Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi had requested one-on-one meetings in New York with U.S. President Barack Obama, who is speaking to the U.N. Tuesday morning. Though Obama will have time to appear on some television talk shows such as The View, the White House said Obama will not have time to meet with either Netanyahu or Morsi.

Harper is the new Leader of the Free World, since Obama, Cameron, Merkel, and Hollande are so clearly disinterested in the job.

I wonder if my fellow Michiganians would be put off by the idea of being part of Upper Canada again?

We can let the U.S. keep Detroit as a parting gift.

Maybe Canada will back Israel’s attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Umm, no thanks. Not interested in Saginaw, Flint, Pontiac, Inkster, Romulus, Southfield, Taylor, Dearborn, Benton Harbor, Muskegon, Allan Park (bankrupt), Hamtramk (bankrupt), Highland Park (bankrupt), Detroit (bankrupt), Lansing, or East Lansing.

We'll take the UP and the lower peninsula north of M 10.

Funny how America is in the crapper since we started forcing Israel to give up land and now we are all but throwing them under the bus.

Canada, on the other had, has been nothing but a blessing to Israel and they have just about completely avoided the global meltdown.

I second that.

I am glad SOMEONE in the west cares about the future of Israel.

Ummmmmmmmm..........maybe Harper doesn’t golf, or maybe he didn’t get invited to “the view”.

Or perhaps he is a Man and is Concerned about foreign affairs and an adult has to take leadership.

can’t happen with the sissybitch we have in office.

blessings, bobo
