Dan Cathy decided to make a PUBLIC statement to Mike Huckabee that, at the least, muddied the progress we had made with Chick-fil-A and, at the worst, contradicted the documents and promises Chick-fil-A made to me and the community earlier this month. Since Mr.Cathy made a PUBLIC statement, I am PUBLICLY asking him to confirm and support what I was told and shown by his company representatives.
1. For the FIRST TIME in the companys history the company wrote and distributed a document to all of its employees titled, Chick-fil-A: Who We Are that guarantees that the company and its employees will treat every person with honor, dignity and respect- regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender.
2. I am asking him to PUBLICLY confirm and support a letter that was voluntarily given to me by his company executives earlier this year that states the future behavior of Chick-fil-As not for profit arm, The WinShape Foundation. The letter states that, The WinShape Foundation is now taking a much closer look at the organizations it considers helping, and in that process will remain true to its stated philosophy of not supporting organizations with political agendas. We were told that these organizations included groups that politically work against the rights of gay and lesbian people.
3. I am also asking him to PUBLICLY confirm and support what Chick-fil-A executives voluntarily told and confirmed to me earlier this month that Chick-fil-A, and its not for profit arm WinShape, in 2012 has not and will not donate to entities with political agendas, including organizations that politically work against the rights of gay and lesbian people.
Mr Cathy continues to not confirm to the press what his company executives have told and showed me. This is disturbing. Since Mr. Cathy wants to confuse people, he needs to publicly confirm the three components described above, which allowed us to move forward. I am simply asking Mr. Cathy to confirm statements and documents that HIS company exectuives provided to me. It is pretty simple, Mr. Cathy. Do you acknowledge and support the policies that your exectuives outlined to me in writing or do you not? Yes or no? If not, Chick Fil A is a business that practices irresponsible, and potentially illegal, business standards.
Perhaps Mr. Cathy felt that he could make these public statements to Mike Huckabee because I had provided a letter of support for his restaurant to the City of Chicago earlier this week. I provided this letter based on the progress we had made with Chick-fil-A. I still need to introduce legislation to make the Chick-fil-A in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago a reality. I will wait to see what Mr. Cathys next PUBLIC statement is, and reflect on that statement before moving forward with appropriate legislation.
GFY Morono. If you don’t want J-O-B-S in your community go ahead and screw you constituents over.
What a great idea.
I will wait to see what Mr. Cathys next PUBLIC statement is, and reflect on that statement before moving forward with appropriate legislation.
Why should Mr. Cathy be bullied into making another public statement? Or even a private statement to this POS?
Mr. Cathy has not equivocated his postion one bit. He has remained constant in his public position on this issue. It is the Idiot Alderman Moron who had his panties in a wad as he stamps his foot and demands an answer.
FOAD Alderman.
They have to... how else can they live with the fact that their lives are entirely driven by their anuses.
Or having their anuses dri... oh, never mind.
This is utterly criminal. A politician is openly making it impossible for a business to open, unless they guarantee what they do with their profits. Boycotts, fine. But denial of equal government services based upon beliefs is utter totalitarianism.
He deserves absolutely anything that happens to him. He is as bad as any nazi or stalinist thug.
I have never seen such a brazen attempt to supress speech. This is an absolute civil rights violation. In some situations, such violators can be sued personally.
Moreno needs to be tarred and feathered. Literally.
Waddya wanna bet the "letter" Cathy gave him is actually a coupon for a free sandwich?
Dan Cathy had sex with... His wife. I saw it written on a piece of papyrus from the year 400 A.D.
Chicago doesn’t deserve a Chick-Fil-A. Let ‘em eat Michelle’s crap.
Historically thinking here about this. A Stalinist commissar walked onto a kulaks farm, and announces that we are confiscating your crop. A Nazi mayor and police chief openly lets a jewish shop owner be terrorized and vandalized.
The citizen’s only recourse becomes an appeal to honest courts.
If this is denied, who would say that the Kulak or Jewish Shop owner is not completely within his rights to use violence against the oppressor? It might not be effective, and it is against Cathy’s christian philosophy. However, one cannot deny that seen through the lens of history, this politician is doing something that if it occurred in another nation or era, we would immediately agree that he deserves a violent response.
The only thing, is that i still think Cathy would instantly and easily prevail in a lawsuit. I hope he does sue. But the smart thing would probably be to take his stores to communities that welcome him, and go to Chicago and announce that the jobs and good food will not be available because of Moreno. And then totally fund a good opponent.
Moreno originally moved to the neighborhood with his partner because of the vibrant art and music scene and his appreciation and support of local artists has expanded since he took office
His father is Mexican and his mother is from Moline, Illinois. His Mexican Grandfather received citizenship after he fought in World War II and jumped on D-Day.
Everyone must think like him or stay out of his Ward!
Thuggery...
Moreno vows to use ‘aldermanic privilege’ to keep Chick-fil-A out of his ward.
“When we look at zoning and we look at having businesses in our ward we have to look at whether they’re responsible actors. And responsibility means not being discriminatory,” Ald. Moreno said.
Should the personal opinions of a company owner affect that owner’s right to do business in Chicago? City aldermen are divided on the question, but Moreno has some support from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors or our family members,” Mayor Emanuel said.

>> Hey Moreno...I hope Chik fil a tells you to pound sand.
These indignant policy whores are insufferable.
If we give him this power, then how can we stop another alderman from protecting the turf of an Al Capone from businesses that might threaten his criminal enterprise?
Imagine if a city somewhere else refused to let JC Penny locate there because they put out that gay fathers day ad? How fast would the justice dept initiate a civil rights lawsuit?
Don’t pedophiles have to stay a certain distance away from schools?
Chicago Alderman To Chick-Fil-A: You Can’t Open Store “Until Things Are Clear”
Whatever you may think of Moreno’s actions, he’s sticking to his guns.
http://chicagoist.com/2012/09/25/alderman_moreno_responds_to_chick-f.php
This is pretty typical of liberals.
FoF does have a political arm but they are not tax exempt.
Good analysis, DR. It is not unbiblical to sue unbelievers, and Moreno is an obvious unbeliever. But I also like the response of leaving the state completely. There is already an existing CFA in Chicago, from what I understand. What a powerful statement it would make to not only refuse to open another store, but to close the existing one and leave with the potential tax money it would generate.
And as a symbolic biblical gesture, Dan Cathy could shakes some dust from his feet while he’s leaving.
Take his sorry *ss to court...

Angry Alderman: Dan Cathy, You Can Forget About That Expansion
The Chicago alderman who claims Chick-fil-A executives promised him the company was changing its antigay ways is now demanding an explanation for President Dan Cathy’s recent behavior. And if he doesn’t get one, then the alderman says Cathy can forget about expanding in Chicago.
