Extortion under RICO, possibly a Hobbs Act violation.

The 1st Ward is shaped like a fishhook snagging parts of Wicker Park, Bucktown and Logan Square. It also snags two disparate constituencies: younger whites who migrated to Chicago from elsewhere in the Midwest and Latinos who grew up in local schools, churches and the Democratic machine.

Moreno was in negotiations with Chick-fil-A about whether he would continue to use his power on the city council to block a restaurant from coming to his neighborhood.

******

The alderman has also proposed or sponsored progressive initiatives like on-street bike parking, banning plastic bags at large stores and decriminalizing marijuana.

******

Although I am not a police officer, it is my job as alderman to help insure public safety. I routinely go on drive-arounds with my commanders and have, numerous times, knocked on the doors of problem housing to let them know their behavior is not tolerated and they are being watched by me, my staff, and my organization.

Press Here

Romney is the worst presidential candidate in my lifetime. The Obama campaign is sharing my political office and I expect to be knocking on doors with my organization in Indiana again this time around.

March 20, 2012

Alderman Moreno wrote a piece on the Huffington Post titled “Joe Moreno: The Case for Supporting Me.”

In the piece he explains why he thinks that the current ward committeeman should be replaced by him, He deliberately leaves out Jesse Ruben Juarez’s name out of the entire piece.

He gives Anne Shaw the same treatment and the piece shows Moreno’s low regard for women, and specifically for Anne Shaw. He also belittles her campaign message about working to save the 13th district police station. Here is what Moreno wrote about Anne Shaw and below that is Anne Shaw’s response.

The other candidate running for the committeeman position clearly does not understand (or care) what a Democratic committeeman does. She moved from the suburbs nine years ago, but only started voting in the 1st Ward in 2010. Her campaign is entirely based on the incitement of fear and a revolting cynicism, which has been polluting our politics for decades. She pretends that if she is elected committeeman a police station, which is to be closed because of the budget (something I also wrote a blog about) would stay open. It wouldn’t.

More importantly, Democratic committeemen have zero say on municipal budgets, nor do they have any involvement whatsoever in matters of public safety. For someone to base an entire campaign on spreading misinformation and trying to create an us vs. them dynamic in our community, upsets me greatly.

A committeeman’s only tasks are to slate candidates, replace outgoing members of the Illinois State House and increase voter participation. I will do all these things by continuing to strengthen the bonds of our communities.

Anne Shaw’s response to Moreno:

Moreno and his people want to portray me as a woman who doesn’t know what a committeeman does, while he “schools” the people by telling them what he thinks is best for them, which is for him to consolidate his power. He uses the term consolidation on his campaign literature as if it’s a good thing for the people of the 1st Ward. This is simply not the case.

I know what a committeeman does and I know that Moreno is not the right person for this job. Moreno maintains two jobs already. He works full time for Buhl, Inc. a printing company and recently also gave himself a raise as the alderman. The 1st Ward needs someone who is dedicated to this tough job. The 1st Ward has one of the lowest voter turn outs in Chicago at 16%. For example, in the last mayoral election only about 10,000 people voted out of over 50,000 residents in the 1st Ward. Alderman Moreno was elected by only about 7000 voters. Moreno misses the most crucial part in his description of a committeeman’s job and that is to increase voter turnout and registration. He benefited from low voter turnout.

Moreno is wrong that a committeeman has zero influence and he knows it, otherwise why would he want to become the committeeman.

Don’t you think most of Moreno’s constitutents wouldn’t even know him, considering how politically uninformed IL people have been for so many decades?

Moreno, just let the corporation live, or die, by its product and service. Stop interfering where you are not needed, or wanted.

“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values. They’re not respectful of our residents, our neighbors or our family members”

This absolutely made me puke when I 1st heard this absurd, glib comment when the whole thing blew open.

It’s ironically laughable.

CFA probably did a big PHHHEEEEWWW brow-wipe when they heard they’re not like Chicago. We all know how wonderful lollipops & candy canes Chicago is.

Dern this kind of shakedown by government makes Al Capone look legit.

I think Mr Webster defined a term for this back in 1828 refered to as Extortion: defined as :

The act of extorting; the act or practice of wresting any thing from a person by force, duress, menaces, authority, or by any undue exercise of power; illegal exaction; illegal compulsion to pay money, or to do some other act. Extortion is an offense punishable at common law.

I just wrote the faggot Moreno a long letter, excoriating him for his constitutional hypocrisy, in trying to punish someone for simply holding viewpoints, particularly religious ones, which are stipulated to be protected from government interference, while he himself is claiming "rights" not AT ALL mentioned in the document, as basis for his own acts of persecution, aimed at Mr. Cathy.

The short story;
Moreno can bite his own pillow all he wants, just don't demand the rest of us call THAT "marriage".

Morono, your turd world craphole of an urban Obamanation doesn’t deserve the likes of an upstanding Christian organization such as this.

Enjoy your ride. It’s all downhill from here. You will hold account, and woe be your holding.

Chicago is a broken toilet. CFA should release a statement:

Because of the UN-American and chilling behavior of politicians in Chicago, CFA is canceling the plans to open 200 stores in the Chicago area. Unfortunately, this means the 15,000 jobs associated with these stores will go to cities that embrace the principles of freedom that this nation was built on. Good luck in the future Chicago. Based on the behavior of City leaders, you are going to need it.

“But the smart thing would probably be to take his stores to communities that welcome him, and go to Chicago and announce that the jobs and good food will not be available because of Moreno. And then totally fund a good opponent.”

Agreed. I’m not familiar with the Chicago area but I think Cathy should put a CFA or CFAs as close as possible to this aldermans’ district but not in the actual district itself.

>> Because of the UN-American and chilling behavior of politicians in Chicago, CFA is canceling the plans to open 200 stores in the Chicago area. <<

Why would they punish the Chicago SUBURBS where the local communities and their officials have embraced Chick-Fil-A? Walmart opened up plenty of new stores in the suburbs and told the city proper to pound sand. Worked fine for them. I hope Chick-Fil-A doesn't cancel their plans to expand more locations in the Chicago area. I get tired of driving 40 mins. to get to one.
