Akin told a crowd of supporters, ” In August I was given a trust , a trust to replace a senator that had not represented Missouri or our best interests.” He added, ” I have one purpose going into November and that’s replacing Claire McCaskill.”

As the deadline to withdraw from the November general election ballot passed, Missouri’s Republican party issued a statement saying it will support Akin along with all the other Republican nominees on the ballot.

You are being absurd. There are a large number of conservatives running helped by RNC, NRSC and NRCC.

United we stand, divided we fall.

You’d rather have a liberal in that seat than Akin, and if Akin got money from the RNC, you’d stop donating to any candidate the rest of this election, if not ever?

Got your panties in a wad?

No fair, turning their lines around on them if it's not their chosen liberal GOP-E candidate.

I judge a congressman by how well he represents his district and how he votes. What part of his voting record makes him an assclown? And may I remind you that he has a BS in Engineering and a Masters of Divinity and served in the US Army.

I’ve never been a paulbot, but I do have a candidate that I humbly suggest you consider - Tom Hoefling. He’s the real deal.

You think this is a normal election or something? Where you can advocate whatever hobby horse crank you please, just to make a point?

Third party is third party. Third party == LOSERS!

At least Ron Paul had the sense not to mount a third party bid. God damn the rest (unless they appeal to the Obamunists, of course).

I think the much bigger backlash will come for people saying “we’re not going to let media tuttutters and professional leftists select our senate senator.” Enough is enough. He said it and he apologized. Time to look at the differences between the candidates on the issues.

I think you underestimate the resentment of people being told by media blatherers who they can vote for. I see a big FU factor coming on behalf of Aikin.

Do you know where Hoefling works these days? Do you know how many times he's been married?

I have no idea who or what a Tom Hoefling might be. But if he’s an advocate of limited, Constitutional government I don’t really care if he’s been married 75 times and works as a dog-fighting referee.

The Third Party guys running in this Election won't even garner a question in a Trivial Pursuit Game, unless Obama wins by one Vote.

Character doesn't matter to you.

That kind of lack of conviction gave us The Impeached Bent One. I don't expect you to remember those days, since you can't ever remember your previous sentence.

This vanity candidate has no chance of winning anyway. Vote for him if you want to be statistical non-noise that nobody notices.

However, Idiots should not run for US Senate. That is my litmus test.

I assume you sent the whole 100K to Jesus Christ.

Sorry to be snarky, but your reasoning makes no sense to me.

Thank you for your GENEROUS support of candidates. Since you are a long time FReeper, I know the money was well spent.

Now that the deadline for hit to WITHDRAW DAMMIT!!

Remember how well that turned out when Obozo's competition dropped out of the Senate race?

The GOPe demands that we support Romney, so why do they not demand support for Akin?

Anyone but Clare, right? </sarcasm>

Just to be clear, I NEVER FELL FOR IT. I did not want Akin to drop out. I read his statement about abortion and rape and understood what he was trying to say. I’m still mad, angry and mad at everyone that jumped on the Drop Akin bandwagon. If they did, they personally ought to reconsider why they’re on FreeRepublic, a pro-life conservative website, when we have a pro-life conservative candidate.

What my comment was about was the media and their incessant meme about “Todd Akin can still drop out by 5pm monday” while they watch the ticking clock and chant the mantra ‘legitimate rape comment, legitimate rape comment”.

Perhaps they can now write a new paragraph or two and call it new news.

If the GOP establishment is against him then the guy MUST be ok in my book. He mis-spoke, he apologized. End of it. I see most of the comments here are against him. Are you people insane?

Who hasn’t spoken out of turn? This election is not just about one issue, it is about many issues....the main one is cutting obama’s legs off at the knees just in case he gets reelected. We need a strong conservative congress to do that.

Alright, did this guy seriously also denounce his statement, that a woman’s body prevents pregnancy in cases of rape?

The fact that you even ask that question means you have been paying zero attention.

People who pay zero attention but have an opinion anyway are...
