Discontent in Spain and Greece is rising.
Greece's two largest labor unions went on strike today, disrupting flight and train services and forcing hospitals to depend on emergency staff.
This is the first general strike in Greece since the coalition government came to power.
Markets are selling off across Europe. Spain is down 3 percent, and yields on the Spanish 10-year surged this morning.
Protestors gathering around the Greek Parliament in Athens, throwing Molotov cocktails at the riot police but have been pushed out of the main square now, according to BBC.
Meanwhile, Spain which saw massive anti-austerity protests yesterday, also saw demonstrators take to the streets on Wednesday. We will be updating this feature through the day.

WATCH A PREVIEW OF WHAT IS COMING TO AMERICA IN AN OBAMA SECOND TERM...
Spain's govt is reforming -- they have a lot to clean-up but they are sincere and they were not dishonest before the mess, unlike the Greek govt
I, Me, My and Mine.
Sounds like an Obama speech, doesn't it?
Sadly no. It started in this country with Woodrow Wilson, built up heavy steam under FDR, and then exploded with LBJ.
When it came to buying into the idea of a free lunch, no voters were more enthusiastic than those of the 1930-70s. Obama has attempted to build a fourth story on the house of socialism, but the capitalist foundation is crumbling under the weight.
Only what will be seen here will be several orders of magnitude greater. We will see destruction just for destruction’s sake, the cities will burn for weeks and I think they will be abandoned by the “authorities” and just left to burn themselves out in an orgy of destruction.

Dirty little secret is....one of the things they are protesting is HUGE tax increases (50% hike in income taxes, sales tax nearly tripled to 21%).
Combined with cuts to popular programs and bailouts for Eeeeeevil Wealthy Bankers, the situation is indeed explosive.
Honestly, the picture of the police officer on fire makes me wonder. At what point do you take the gloves off? Once the protesters start throwing fire bombs, deadly force should be authorized.
This isn’t a right or left thing, either. I have no illusions that when the time comes, patriots are going to attack government forces, and deaths will occur. The point is, you don’t escalate the violence like that, then not expect treatment in kind. The fact that Greek police, or any police under that kind of attack don’t start shooting shows great restraint on their part.
Moochers all in one place....
RE: Sounds like an Obama speech, doesn’t it?
Don’t Spain and Greece have someone to take care of their “Julia’s” ?
I think the Rodney King riots are a more realistic representation of what would happen. Under-reported, but very well remembered locally, were private businesses protecting their property from looters. Safe zones were created as business owners put riflemen atop their businesses, and the looters decided to head towards easier targets.
Police protection was..non-existent. Emergency services, including firefighters, outright stated where people could go to meet up with them, but that they weren't entering any of the uncontrolled areas.
Will that happen again? I'm sure it will. I think it will be less 'patriots vs authority' and more 'citizens restoring authority' when the SHTF.
“(Coming soon to America)”
Hussein didn’t order all that ammo for nothin’. He intends on using it against citizens that might protest his policies.
They don’t want to give up the “free” handouts from the government. Even if their demands destroy their country.
Following right along in the communist playbook. Stir up civil unrest leading to a breakdown of the civil order. Rush in during the confusion and lack of control and set up a communist government.
communists know how to play their game. The rest of the people are profoundly ignorant of what’s happening, and walk around like cowering sheep, ready and eager to bow down in submission.
Happening here.
interesting media coverage.
again the Greek protests are all in syntagma (constitution square). Again they gloss over the fact that there were two protests. An early march and a second where out of country anarcists come in and go violent.
What you saw in the first pricture is pretty much it. We had more people at a chick-fil-a rally.
BTW all the pictures were from the same vantage point on top of a hotel. Room service, Reporting, and an all expense paid vacation to Greece.
You say you want a revolution...
Point well taken; something that may become very pertinet in the not so distant future. Upon reflection, I could have more concisely stated my thought as such:
“Whether I am fighting for the forces of good, or propping up an evil empire, if I am a cop, and you throw a fire bomb at me, never mind actually setting me on fire, my first reaction is going to be to shoot you and all your friends that are standing next to you.”
Again, much restraint on their part.
