America’s Dumbest War, Ever
Michael Yon Online ^ | 26 September 2012 | Michael Yon

Yesterday a concerned father forwarded to me a letter from his son in Afghanistan. I confirmed authenticity, and republish with permission:

Dad,

I am fed up. I cannot believe the lack of attention the recent changes in this war is receiving by the media or the country. I think I saw one thing on CNN about the following subject, but I had to dig extensively to find it. The purpose of this letter is to let you know of the garbage that our soldiers are going through right now. With this knowledge, I hope that you take action by writing your congressmen.

First, because of the recent green on blue incidents or "insider threats" as the new buzz phrase dictates, all coalition forces in Afghanistan have completely stopped partnering with the ANA, AUP, and ALP in order to prevent the death of anymore CF casualties by ANSF or Taliban disguised as them. This is also greatly spurred by President Karzi's indifferent attitude and lack of action to take measures to prevent further insider attacks.

Second, because of this massive change in policy (and complete change in mission) all U.S. forces are forbidden to actively patrol their AO and are to remain on their respective COPs/FOBs. There are only a few exceptions to this rule and they all pertain to "hardening" highway 1 in our AO. We have received orders that clearly state that all CF will no longer be allowed to drop air to ground munitions within the country of Afghanistan. This preempts Karzi's announcement that will be made shortly that states the above mentioned order, making it a tactical directive that he is ordering.

To the first point: Our mission in Afghanistan...

---snip--

So the question now becomes, what is our mission?

---snip--

So why are we here?...

Incorrect. The WOD has been going on since about 1914 when southern Democrats convinced the members of Congress that blacks were getting high on cocaine and raping white women and that the drugs ought to be outlawed.

President Obama is the “Commander In Chief ..... I want him to look in a mother’s or widow’s or kid’s eyes and see what that loss means to them.

I am absolutely serious when I say that I don't think he is capable of this ... of seeing what that loss means. The guy is so seriously warped and introverted into what is only going to benefit HIM .... just look at his refusal to meet with the leader of a country who is in mortal danger ... the 'bumps in the road' that are Chris Stevens, etc. Unless it will benefit HIM, the guy doesn't care and doesn't want to know. As someone famously said, he's not a bad man, he's just a bad President. I vehemently disagree - he's evil to the bone and in every way imaginable.

You think "evil" is a good descriptor? Could be. It could also be that he's literally incapable of feeling sympathy/empathy. Not that such a notion is comforting, of course--either way, he needs to be in a position no higher than, say, "bartender."

I was originally going to use the word ‘bad’. He possibly is literally incapable of feeling sympathy/empathy ... this means we have what, a psychopath for a president? I feel so much better now. /s

Psychopath - a person with a psychopathic personality, which manifests as amoral and antisocial behavior, lack of ability to love or establish meaningful personal relationships, extreme egocentricity, failure to learn from experience, etc.

Iraq was stupid unless it was a prelude and launching point for regime change in Iran. Because there was no follow-up to Iraq, it was just a waste of men and money.

I still say we need a million Pitchfork packin’ person vigil outside the White Hut for Obamuzzie’s last night there to make sure he doesn’t stay a minute longer than the law allows. It’s a 6,000 mile run for me but I’d bring a truckload of pitchforks.——————————Semper Fi.

Psychopathology can easily result from having a young troubled person having a close relationship with another psychopath. That is what happened to BHO when his grandfather facilitated his grandson's relationship with Frank Marshall Davis.

Not only was Davis a communist but he had a number of sexual fetishes a major one was sexual attraction to young boys and girls. Davis either with direction from some other parties or as a functioning communist leader groomed BHO to be what he is through behaviorist methods that included sexual seduction and regular sex abuse along with withdrawing affection for no reason to totally disrupt the young Barry's psyche. I am certain there was a lot of impregnational propaganda implanted during this perverse relationship. The result is the human time bomb that is now the POTU. He is incapable of empathy for anyone else because he is so confused, angry , and rage filled about himself. This is a man who often wishes he was never born and then like Caligula wishes all humanity had but one neck so he could wring it.

Thanks for posting this. I just read it on another forum and did a search to make sure it was posted here. Very, very disturbing information on many levels. Romney should pull this letter out at the debate, read it and tell Zero to explain why he is using our soldiers as political pawns!

I think Afghanistan was necessary to strike at the Talibs

WWI was also necessary for the US economic purposes as the German empire started sinking American ships and with the Zimmerman telegram offered Mexico to make war against the USA promising Mexico support to take back the South-West

Vietnam, Korea were sensible in the sense that their aim was to stop communism. Vietnam may have failed in its objective, but its purpose was clear

I call Gulf War I as the dumbest war -- to help the Saudis fight the Iraqis

Iraq under Saddam would have been a bulwark against both Iran and Saudia Wahabbi Al Qaeda

Also, our putting troops on Saudi soil is what prompted bin Laden to plan 9/11

if the USA stayed out of WWI, the war could have dragged on much longer and potentially Germany could have been so weakened that the Soviets would have walked in (as they nearly did in 1920, only stopped by the Poles in the Miracle on the Vistula)

Also, a potential war with Mexico could have been in the offing in the 20s if the war dragged on.

OK, but what happened afterwards? I could probably write for a hour on all of our mistakes. Start with nation building in Primativastan, a dubious ally in Pakistan, etc. We ignored religion, culture, history and geography when we jumped in with both feet.

Yes, afterwards I agree with you. But the main idea of the war was correct

We should have gone in an then invaded Pakistan after that

WWI was a farce because the U-boat campaign and Zimmerman telegram were spurred by the fact that we as a neutral were arming Britain with the weapons to kill troops of the Central Powers. I live within a few miles of 2 sites in NJ that were bombed/burned by German sympathizers during WWI (prior to our entry) - Black Tom Island in Jersey City (1916) and the Canadian Car & Foundry Co. in Lyndhurst (January 1917). These places were targeted by Americans who rightfully felt they were violating our neutrality.

Whatever propaganda was spewed at the time, the fact is that we went to fight for Britain at a time when “the sun never set on the British Empire”; German colonies by comparison were fairly immaterial (and Austria-Hungary, Turkey, and Bulgaria had none).
