"Don't boo, vote," President Obama often says in his stump speech whenever crowds boo a Romney plan.
The off-hand call to vote may be by design. It comes amid a precipitous decline in Democratic voter registration in key swing states -- nowhere more apparent than in Ohio.
Voter registration in the Buckeye State is down by 490,000 people from 4 years ago. Of that reduction,. 44 percent is in Cleveland and surrounding Cuyahoga County, where Democrats outnumber Republicans more than two to one.
"I think what we're seeing is a lot of spin and hype on the part of the Obama campaign to try to make it appear that they're going to cruise to victory in Ohio," Cuyahoga County Republican Chairman Rob Frost said. "It's not just Cuyahoga County. Nearly 350,000 of those voters are the decrease in the rolls in the three largest counties, Cuyahoga, Hamilton and Franklin."
Frost points out that those three counties all contain urban centers, where the largest Democrat vote traditionally has been.
Ohio is not alone. An August study by the left-leaning think tank Third Way showed that the Democratic voter registration decline in eight key swing states outnumbered the Republican decline by a 10-to-one ratio. In Florida, Democratic registration is down 4.9 percent, in Iowa down 9.5 percent. And in New Hampshire, it's down down 19.7 percent....

More good news, thanks for posting! :)
When is the deadline for voter registration in Ohio, Florida, and Virginia?
LOL!
I don’t know. How about looking it up and posting the answer here.
New Hampshire was more conservative and more Republican 30 years ago. Over time it became a bedroom community for commuters seeking to escape high taxes in Massachusetts. Unfortunately these migrants brought their politics with them.
Ohio could have easily had that many dead people vote in 2008. It was ridiculous the amount they found. They have ways to catch them now. They will go to jail and pay heavy fines. No Obama money will be accepted.
My uncle was a life long conservative...He voted strictly republican till the day he died.....
Now he votes democrat.......
Actually no. Since 2008, Ohio has purged it's voter rolls of deceased voters and duplicate entries, according to the Ohio SOS. That represents a significant number of former voters who can't vote for Obama this time around.
That is such good news, it’s very encouraging. :)
Yes look what we’ve been posting cuyahoga voter registration statistics.
Ohio registration deadline is October 9 2012.
Florida registration deadline is October 9 2012.
Virginia registration deadline is October 15 2012.
Thanks, much appreciated!
“Registration Deadline: Ohio has a 30 day voter registration requirement. However, if the 30 day voter registration deadline falls on a Sunday or legal holiday, then the deadline is extended to the next day that is not a Sunday or legal holiday.”
very welcome :-)
I would like to be enthusiastic about this data also. But, what about this ugly thought: Party registration does not equate to voting for the party candidate on general election day.
What if this is a case of Dems registering as Repubs so they can vote in and screw-up the R’s primaries? They can still vote for whoever they want on November 6th.
I know, its ugly. Sorry I mentioned it.
Thanks smoothsailing.
Voter registration in Chicago is down 225,000. The article in the newspaper sounded like they were pleading with Dems to register. To attract younger voters, the Board of Elections is allowing smart phone and tablet computer users to start the registration process online. The deadline is Oct. 1.
