Pat Caddell Says: Media Have Become “Enemy of the American People”
AIM ^ | September 27, 2012 | Roger Aronoff

Posted on 09/28/2012 5:52:41 AM PDT by opentalk

In remarks to the AIM conference, “ObamaNation: A Day of Truth,” on September 21 st , former Democratic pollster and analyst Pat Caddell said, “I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy.”

Caddell noted that while First Amendment protections were originally provided to the press so they would protect the liberty and freedom of the public from "organized governmental power,” they had clearly relinquished the role of impartial news providers.

...Caddell added that it is one thing for the news to have a biased view, but “It is another thing to specifically decide that you will not tell the American people information they have a right to know.”

....they have, then, made themselves a fundamental threat to the democracy, and, in my opinion, made themselves the enemy of the American people.

It wouldn’t surprise me that the media is staying afloat with stimulus money.

Considering the plummeting ratings of network news, along with CNN and PMSNBC, as well as the declining readership of traditional mainstream media news organizations, I would have to agree. Entities that should be folding due to lack of income are being kept afloat by somebody and I wouldn't be surprised if that somebody was the taxpayer, present and future.

Can We repeat it enough?

...[the corrupt MSM have] made themselves a fundamental threat to the democracy, and, in my opinion, made themselves the enemy of the American people.

At what point is it treason?

There are enough who see what is happening and why, and understand where it is going, yet they remain silent.

Not much time left...

Looking at the plummeting ratings for network news, and the cratering financials at newspapers, the deal here, IMHO, is that they’ve freely decided to chuck whatever shreds of credibility they may have left to shill for Obama because, like the state governments of CA and IL, their very survival depends upon getting bailouts in a second Obama term.

All true, what you say here, Mr. McFrog.

The media, for some time now, has cared not a whit about credibility.

I believe the fiscal realities are forcing their hand, especially in the run-up to this election. For financial reasons, this race simply had to be close for all legacy media.

If the truth were told-that this race has been over since the 2010 mid-terms-then the massive revenues from ads in print and broadcast, will not have occurred.

The media, including Fox News and the Wall-Street Journal, have joined with the pollsters to paint this race as close. It's never been about credibility, it's about relevance and financial survival.

Good point in shining a spot light on their quid pro quo

MSNBC did get stimulus money, GE received bailout money, recovery act money, government contracts (medical records..Obamacare, green energy, smart grid)

their networks promote the ideology and Obama...then are rewarded with the government contracts.

The media that Caddell calls ‘enemies’ are all liberals. The broader story is that liberalism seeks to destroy America in its quest to build a secular Utopia. Liberalism is the enemy of liberty and prosperity.

For anybody remaining who still thinks that it is no different to have Romney than to have Obama, they might want to consider this: even if Obama and Romney were to do exactly the same things in office, at least with Romney there might be a criticizing and skeptical press to hold the President accountable. That is worth something.

And Caddell certainly knows his polling. He not only told Jimmy Carter five days in advance that Reagan was going to kick his arse, but his numbers were within 1% of the actual vote totals.

From the Communist Goals (1963)

http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm

15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

17. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

18. Gain control of all student newspapers.

19. Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

20. Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

21. Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

Our only satisfaction will come once the media is finished helping Obama set up the New Caliphate.

They will be at the top of the muslims’ list for infidel throat cutting.

Then, for a second or two, they will have a flash of understanding as to why we call them useless idiots.

If Romney wins anyway by a hefty margin they are SO SCROOOOOOD.

Their polls will be shredded. No bit of credibility left whatsoever. And no bailouts coming either.

funny you mention that tree... I was thinking it was in need of watering, and though the original quote said "tyrants", we can include "traitors" in there as well.

The media are merely traitors. A tyrant would be someone who, for example, demanded that a Christian (or anyone else with a religious objection to abortion) pay for an employee's abortions. Fortunately, we have a Constitution, one that is "the Supreme Law of the Land" and guarantees legal protection for our God-given right to the free exercise of our religion. There is no way America could be taken over by a tyrant who would ignore such a clear and absolute legal protection of our moral and human rights, is there?

“...they have, then, made themselves a fundamental threat to the democracy, and, in my opinion, made themselves the enemy of the American people.”

I couldn’t agree more with Mr. Caddell.

I see our press compared to Pravda a lot. I think Pravda was forced by the Soviet government to report as they did. Our press is still free to report as objectively and as hard hitting on the government as want to. Unlike Pravda our press CHOOSES to report as they do. This makes them way worse than Pravda in my opinion.

Agreed. And I believe the case can be made that since the mainstream media have abrogated their responsibilities under the First Amendment, their rights and protections under same can be considered subject to forfeiture. This they have done willingly and deliberately. After all...if some in Congress are willing to consider limitations on the freedom of speech in the interest of protecting the "religious feelings" of Muslims, then it only follows that a press which fails to perform its function in the reporting of corruption in the current administration can also have its rights under the First Amendment come under scrutiny.
