RUSH: People are sending me e-mails, folks. I got a note from a guy who was just in Washington. He said he couldn't find any evidence that there's a presidential campaign there. He didn't find any Obama signs. He didn't find any Obama bumper stickers. (Not much on Romney, either.) I got a story here from the Raleigh News & Observer: "At UNC-Chapel Hill, Finding Volunteers for Obama Campaign is Harder This Time."
Four years ago here in south Florida where we live, there were college kids all over the place carrying Obama signs and passing out Obama bumper stickers, and there's none of that. You know, I'm pretty much a recluse, so I have to ask people what's going on. (chuckles) Nobody's seeing them. There aren't any Obama signs out there. I don't even see Obama bumper stickers. I see some old 2008 stuff, but there's nothing new.
The guy that wrote me from Washington said there's no indication whatsoever that there's a presidential campaign going on, even in the DC suburbs. There are no Obama bumper stickers or paraphernalia on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, and that's the belly of the beast. It really is weird. There is no automatic... It doesn't seem right, and I don't know what to make of this, if anything, by the way. 'Cause this is all anecdotal.
Maybe it's been decided it's a waste of money, all these yard signs and bumper stickers, but it's a big difference from 2008. There's no spontaneous combustion enthusiasm out there, certainly not for Obama. Nothing like there was in 2008.

RUSH: Now, don't misunderstand me out there, folks, when we were talking about the lack of Obama signage out there. There isn't a whole lot of Romney signage, either, that anybody sees. I mean, there's some. But it's odd. It's a presidential campaign. It's an election that many people feel is the most crucial and important in their lifetimes, and maybe in the lifetime of the country because the future of the country's at stake and what kind of country we're gonna be.
And in certain states, you travel around, and there's no indication that anything is going on for either candidate. You don't see a lot of Romney stuff out there; you don't see a lot of Obama stuff. So if you go into a state where it is assumed to be a slam-dunk Obama state, like New Jersey, and you don't see any signage, what would you think? What would you think it means?
You'd probably think that Romney's not lighting any fires, right? If you're in New Jersey, a definite Democrat state, and there's no Romney sign, maybe -- maybe -- there's no prayer there, or no energy, no enthusiasm. I don't know. It's just is weird, given how crucially important to so many people this election is, and yet eyeball evidence is that there really isn't one going on. Yet it is the only subject in the media, for the most part. It's fascinating.

its the economy....who can afford signs ?
In Southern California, there are plenty of signs, especially on vacant lots, abandoned store fronts, etc. They are mostly for local candidates and issues, which is the norm.
I would put signs out, but I don’t want my home torched.
I would put stickers on my car, but I don’t want it keyed.
We are the silent “ninja” majority.
I have a Romney/Ryan sign on my front lawn along with a Congressional candidate sign and state candidate sign. By the way I am in Orange County.
“.who can afford signs “
Who can afford having their car, house, or yard trashed ?
There is a lot of rage out there, and all the PC pressures of being called a racist for anything.
And how about one motorist in Florida claiming he got a ticket from a cop for having a Romney sticker on his car ?
I got a feeling Romney voters are keeping their heads down and the tidal wave will come Nov 6th.
Saw one 4 x 8 Obama/Biden sign on US 30 at the York/Adams county border—heart of the red flyover country of the PA midstate.
Lots of smaller Romney/Ryan signs springing up.
I heard this rant today, and I’m thinking of trying to get through. But that’s a waste of time, so I’ll put it here and see who see’s it.
It’s a “SIGN” of the times! (couldn’t help that)
There are a PLETHORA of yard signs here in West Pa. They just don’t say what BeeHOe likes.
Feature this, Western PA is churning out “STOP THE WAR ON COAL, FIRE OBAMA” signs like they were stink bugs or something.
No need for a Romney sign. War on coal sign tells you all you need to know.
Oh, and BTW, most of these WOC signs are in YARDS (not public intersections) where in ‘08 one found those dopey hopey changey signs.
Everybody wants Obama bin Biden gone, hence the dearth of Obama bin Biden signs, but nobody wants to admit they're a racist by putting up a sign for Romney/Ryan.
Obama bin Biden are going to be defeated in a landslide of historic proportions. Count on it.
I think there is very little real enthusiasm for either POTUS candidate. And that is reflected in the lack of signs and stickers. Compared to 4 yrs ago the number of signs here in Indiana might well be 50% less.
I called my local candidates asking for their sign and they put signs on my lawn for all of the GOP candidates.
You don’t need to buy them.
No political signs are permitted in our town until 3 weeks before the election.
Saw an Obama statue/idol mounted on a car’s dashboard.
I rode through local Obama territory last week, there are no signs in the yards.
i was at the Jets debacle/game on Sunday....the traffic was jammed from the parking lot of Met Life stadium across the George Washington Bridge after the game (10 miles) and on the way home for the 45 minute drive north. it was heavier than usual...I saw ONE obama bumper sticker on the way home...four years ago it would’ve been one on every two cars....
last week i had to drive to brooklyn (about 75 minutes one way) and back...again- i saw ONE obama bumper sticker...
on Monday i drove to a train station in westchester county, ny, parked my car and took train into NYC...one of the cars in the lot had two obama bumper stickers on them- but it was apparent people had been trying to pull them off...so i left a note on the guys widnshield which read, “Dear Friend- i saw someone vandalizing your car by putting obama stickers on it. I’m concerned as I’m sure you don’t want to look like a complete horses ass by driving around in a car which advertises the nation’s Worst. President. Ever”...
Basically this, mixed in with an equal amount of "America is sick to death of politics. I sure know that I am. One party is full-on Commie, the other just wants to give America away slower. We're so boned, it's barely worth crying over anymore. I can read a balance sheet and this country can't even service the interest on it's own debt anymore and both parties are responsible for the mess we're in. We're being led by a bunch of blow-dried fraudulent car salesmen and shrieking moonbat women. Still, my nuts are in a vice, so what else am I going to do but keep voting for my party? So NO, mother-F'er, you CANNOT place that political sign on my front yard. I don't want a bumper sticker either. Go get liver cancer, you SOB."
Well, I’ll get a sign in a week or so. And I’ll follow my proven procedure of rubbing it down with Poison Ivy. I’ve seen one obama sticker on a truck that also had multiple Grateful Dead stickers. So,,, brain dead driver. I have seen no obama signs in my town, but only one Romney sign.
That is good to hear.
Probably won't do that again but it sure is tempting.
