Mexico now seeing wave of immigrants
San Antonio Express News ^ | 7 October 2012 | Jason Buch

Posted on 10/07/2012 7:00:00 AM PDT by Racehorse

When Pete Navarro showed up three years ago in this industrial city a few hours' drive from the border, he spoke barely a word of Spanish and hardly knew a soul.

The San Antonio resident, who went to Jay High School, lost his legal residency in December 2009 and was deported to his native Mexico. He hadn't been there since he was a child, and the only people he knew were his aunt and her family. He left his parents and two children in San Antonio.

“So when I got here, my two cousins were my best friends, because they could speak English,” Navarro said.

Navarro, 33, has taken part in a historic migration. For the first time in decades, more people are moving from the U.S. to Mexico than are coming to the U.S. from Mexico, the Pew Hispanic Center reported in April. Some, like Navarro, are deported, but the vast majority came to Mexico voluntarily, according to the report.

It can be difficult for those who come voluntarily and involuntarily. Many struggle with the language, have trouble in Mexican schools and find it difficult to integrate into Mexican society.

But they also find opportunity, often thanks to the English they learned growing up north of the Rio Grande.

It took Navarro only a few days to find an industry waiting with open arms to accept workers from the wave of more than a million people who have moved from the U.S. to Mexico in recent years: call centers.

As horrible as Mexico is, they actually have more freedoms in some areas than we do. If they go with some money in their pockets it’s a lot easier to start a small business there.

The reason they are moving back is because we are bleeding jobs, and our GDP is roughly 1/6 of theirs right now and our government is now just as corrupt as theirs ever was. It’s an indicator of how little opportunity is now left in this country, not something to crow about.

If we eliminated welfare, there would be no need for illegal aliens.

Why doesn’t anybody ever ask...

22 million Mexicans managed to swim or wade across a treacherous river, cross a blistering, deadly desert, dart across a highway and FIND A JOB in a country where nobody wants them and they don’t even speak the language... yet ghetto welfare queens cannot find a way to support themselves?

The Mexicans get no “Section 8”, welfare, food stamps and mange not only to somehow support themselves, but usually send money back to poorer family members back home in Mexico.

What’s more - they often pay ‘coyotes’ for the journey.

Two ABSOLUTE LIES!

(1) ALL illegal Mexicans speak Spanish rather than English. No exceptions.
(2) He left 2 welfare (love accidents)behind for the tax paying citizens to support.

Absolute lies by a biased media.

Guess who are the ones returning to Mexico?

It is those who LEGALLY Immigrated to America!

THEY are the ones who can’t find work here, and are returning to Mexico.

The presence of the ILLEGAL Immigrants in America, are imposing SLAVE WAGES on the Legal Immigrants!

Their dollars go further there, and I’ll bet that not a few are small business owners who found that between government regulations and the economy it’s almost impossible for them to make a small business survive in the United States. So they’ll try again in Mexico, and Mexico will prosper as the U.S. gets poorer.

“If we eliminated welfare, there would be no need for illegal aliens.”

Actually, a large number of illegals come to this country to get welfare. WIC aid can be given to illegals - free food for mothers, babies and young children. Forged papers not only allow them to get jobs; they provide documentation to sign up for other welfare programs. Emergency rooms must provide care, no questions allowed. Thanks to federal regs, that care must include things like clean diapers for those who are too lazy to buy fresh ones.

Goldfish learn to gather when a person has a can of fish food in their hand; people are at least as smart as fish.

Two and a half years after going to work at Global Telesourcing, he was able to buy a house in Monterrey. He says that would have taken “forever” in the U.S

Good. Maybe more illegals will follow him.

On Meet the Press this morning, Dem spokesblob Hillary Rosen mentioned as a talking point against Mitt how Mexican immigrants would have to fear being deported and their families destroyed.

The comeback should have been that Mexican immigrants both legal and illegal did tremendous under Bush in a strong economy and even they are sucking wind under Barry’s leadership.

This is why, assuming Romney becomes Prez, one of the first things he should do is secure the border, come up with a sane immigration policy, and basically lock down our southern border. Otherwise, as the economy picks up, which it will do under Romney, it will once again become a magnet for illegals coming up from south of our border. This cycle of illegal immigration cannot begin again. It must be shut down.

This is a good thing for Mexico and the US.

The US loses those who are here illegally, making that problem easier to deal with, while easing the competition for the dwindling number of jobs and ever more expensive food and energy resources.

Mexico regains their educated and technically aware citizens, many with skills and resources.

Better for everyone, short and long term. Win-win.

For the first time in decades, more people are moving from the U.S. to Mexico than are coming to the U.S. from Mexico, the Pew Hispanic Center reported in April.

ABSOLUTELY ZERO proof of this. The Pew "study" is based on the Soros-funded Migration Policy Institute, which relies on Obama deportation figures that the House GOP and Judicial Watch has shown to be fraudulent by a factor of 5.

Something about this story makes no sense. He was deported but left his parents in Texas? Why were they allowed to stay?

And if he was in the US illegally, he’s not an immigrant, he is a returning Mexican citizen.

And if this article is about voluntary immigration, then why choose an individual who is deported back home as your opening anecdote?

Man, journalists and reporting SUCKD these days!

Shhhhhhhh!

I’ve posted similar ideas here many times. Nobody wants to talk about it - not the politicians, not the tea party, certainly not the liberals. But the things that get all the press - heath care costs due to baby boomers, illegal immigrants - they are all what is called in football, “misdirection plays.”

When the second (and more violent) American revolution begins, it won’t be caused by illegal immigration or healthcare costs, it will be caused by the 20 million (and growing) population that WILL NOT WORK EXCEPT AT THE POINT OF A GUN. Send all the illegals home, let Grandma and Grandpa die in the street, and the cost of welfare will still be the cancer that eats this country alive.

That’s funny. A myth.

Illegal squaters get everything they want free in the US and often times employment preferences because they don’t expect the same pay and benefits as middle class Americans. They about took over the building industry. Cheap, cheap, cheap labor. Free healthcare at emergency rooms in the US; subsidized in state tution, free public schooling, etc. Plus, they steal Americans’ identies and run scams on government programs and the IRS.

Obama’s people had a long series of meetings with Mexican officials to improve welfare benefits to illegals.

I lived in a small city in Morelos state for a short time in 2011. I was referring to the lack of licensing and regulation that hinders small business here.

There are business models that we have here that don’t yet exist there. Two that I noticed when I was there was pizza delivery and coin operated laundomats. I was paying $11.00 a week to have my laundry done because there were no coin laundries in the entire city. Man, I could have opened a business for nothing there and made a lot of money.

Of course, you have to factor in theft, kidnapping, and decapitation. LOL It really is a hellhole there but in some ways they are more free than we are.

This is another reason I despise Mexicans. I'm supposed to believe that a man born in Mexico and then illegally lives in an area of the Southwest United States where Spanish is becoming ever more the first language can't speak a word of it? Spanish is the easiest language to learn, English is the hardest. Among many of the things Mexicans ''demand'' of Americans is that we speak their version of Spanish in our own country and yet they are hostile of hearing English spoken in Mexico. What a bunch of hypocrites. Honestly Mexicans infuriate the p!ss out of me. Not content with destroying the land God gave them, they're hell bent on destroying ours. The Mexico they're so proud of is the same rat hole they can't run away from fast enough but is also the same place they fight like hell not to have to go back to.

Reminds me of Montreal. I traveled to there on business a couple of years ago. There was some pretty cool tourist stuff there but the people suck. There were nice restaurants that wouldn’t serve us because we didn’t speak French. The guy spoke perfectly good English, so language wasn’t the problem, he was just acting typically French Canadian. Fine, dude, I was there because I was paid to be there. I don’t have to go back and that’s fine by me, go piss up a rope.

Yet I see tons of blacks out driving new cars and shopping etc. I haven’t seen a black teenager working in the longest time. Weird...

Don’t kid yourself illegals do get on welfare, food stamps, medical care, etc...they are a huge drain on social services, in some areas they are THE drain on social services.

Many illegals pay the coyote by smuggling in drugs.

Welfare people do need to get jobs, but that is a separate issue- at least they are “our” deadbeats.

My daughter-in-law is from Alberta, from Calgary. Been there, it’s beautiful but it might as well be the other side of the world. The gist I got from her and her family is basically the french-Canadians could go to Hell. And yet here in America we have no official language and foreigners , many of whom speak English demand and get to have us either speak their language or provide translators and documents, ballots, drivers license forms, etc. for them in their language at our expense. We’re nuts to allow it.

“Weird...”

No, no, no. You need to read the other comments more carefully. As soon as we send the illegals home, those same teenagers you see will be HAPPY to work hard under a hot sun as day laborers for $9 - $10 and hour.

Dream On.

As long as worthless deadbeats can receive $18-$20k a year for doing nothing (YES, that figure IS accurate) they will. And they will continue to be the MAJOR drain on the welfare and social support systems (SORRY, THEY ARE). And as long as the lamestream press can continue to make the play that to even MENTION this problem makes you a racists, the problem will get worse.

The good news is that it WILL get solved, probably in a decade or less. Even though people like clintoon “reformed” welfare by calling it different things and hiding it in different programs, the cost is there. And when it becomes unsustainable, it will get fixed, although the solution will probably with bullets not ballots.

Maybe so, but I am all for the “self-repatriation” of the illegals. Maybe they will have learned enough from us to take control of Mexico’s corrupt government and clean up the drug business while they build their “new lives” from whence they came.
