Vice President Biden doubled down on the bad intelligence excuse in last night's debate when the question of the deaths of American personnel in Libya was raised. Among other stories today, Senator Bob Corker and The Daily Beast's Eli Lake apparently seem to know at lot more about what happened in Benghazi that night than the President and Vice President.
Senator Corker will become the senior Republican on the Senate Intelligence Committee next year. The Washington Post's Jennifer Rubin reports: This week he had extensive meetings with the FBI and intelligence officials on the ground in Benghazi as well as officials from the Libyan government. He was emphatic: "What I know is our intelligence officials on the ground in real time and also in Washington within 24 hours knew what had happened." How much was known at the time of the attack? Eli Lake reports: In addition to the footage from the consulate cameras, the U.S. government is also poring over video taken from an overhead U.S. surveillance drone that arrived for the final hour of the night battle at the consulate compound and nearby annex. One doesn't have to be a world class analyst to make the distinction between the random acts of a mob and a coordinated attack. And if a drone was sent in when it became known the consulate was under attack, why wasn't it an armed drone that could have tried to stop the assault?
I expect more damaging information to come out in coming days.

Why did the head of the CIA claim that it was because of a video. He should be called up to answer that question.
His claim gives Obama an out
If it happens, it could be Obama’s spiking the ball and leaking information about the Osama mission coming back to haunt him. They didn’t like that.
Are you sure it was David H. Petraeus Director of the Central Intelligence Agency? Wasn't it Clap on .... Clap off Director of National Intelligence?
Yes, it was the head of the CIA. His claim confused those that had been in a briefing that indicated otherwise. You will come across the story.
The concluding paragraph in the article is excellent.
Neither the State Department, Hillary Clinton, nor the intelligence community are going to allow themselves to be thrown under the bus just to prop up Obama.
This whole thing points right to the head of the CIA. It is him that claimed it was caused by a video.
With the head of the CIA claiming it was a video - knowing it full well wasn’t a video and there was no protest- you all should be wondering with the Head of the CIA is trying to cover up.
the head of the CIA is allowing himself to be the scapegoat for the big lie? Well that wouldn’t happen unless there’s something bigger going on over there in Libya that they don’t want us to know about. I’m of the opinion that those missing 30000 weapons have something to do with it.
sadly Petraeus has drunk the Kool-Aid. Apparently he thinks he must still say yes sir yes sir three bags full
Why would he put his entire career on the line? To save Obama? Doesn’t make sense.
maybe because he wants a life after the career? like as a un weapons inspector general or such?
Throwing the Clintons under the bus will be Obama’s death knell. I can’t wait to watch. I’m very sorry the Administration’s incompetence caused people to die, but the fingerpointing match between the thugs from Arkansas and the thugs from Chicago is going to be fun fun fun to watch.
I AM SICK AND TIRED OF EVERYONE SAYING BIDEN DOUBLED DOWN LIKE HE WAS PLAYING BLACKJACK!!!!! IT IS JUST CRUEL!!!!! Everybody knows Crazy Joe can’t count.
“Let’s seee....l’ve got a ten and a queen.....that’s ah what....four? ‘Hit me.’”
Oh, the casino owners smile when Crazy Joe comes to town.
How about using a GITMO detainee that was released by someone in Justice as your conduit for weapons in the revolt who then turns on you and kills the ambassador ?
Follow the trail from Holder and his staff to Gitmo terror subject who was sprung in 2007 by Jennifer Daskal who is currently working in Justice. Does she still have his phone number? What would be the blow back if a person trusted in Justice directly helped the killer of our ambassador?

DOJ Lawyers Who Represented Terrorism Suspects Detainees Are Identified
Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010
Fox News has identified the seven anonymous Justice Department lawyers who previously represented Guantánamo detainees or terrorism suspects.
Justice Department spokesman Matthew A. Miller confirmed the names to Fox News Mike Levine, but did not say whether any of the seven previously anonymous lawyers now work on issues related to Guantánamo detainees.
Each of the nine people referenced in the letter filed legal briefs that are available by using something as simple as Google, Miller told Fox News. We will not participate in an attempt to drag peoples names through the mud for political purposes.
Miller said politics has overtaken facts and reality in the battle over the lawyers identities. (Full statement below)
The current Justice Department employees who previously represented Guantánamo detainees or terrorism suspects are:
· Tony West, the Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Division.
· Jonathan Cedarbaum, of the Office of Legal Counsel.
· Eric Columbus, senior counsel in the Office of the Deputy Attorney General.
· Karl Thompson, of the Office of Legal Counsel.
· Joseph Guerra, Principal Deputy Associate Attorney General.
· Tali Farhadian, an official in the Office of the Attorney General.
· Beth Brinkmann, Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division.
Two other DOJ lawyers Principal Deputy Solicitor General Neal Katyal and National Security Division Attorney Jennifer Daskal also formerly represented detainees, but their identities had already been known.
In response to the DOJ confirmation, Keep America Safe spokesman Aaron Harison said the organization still wants information on which of the lawyers works on detainee issues within the DOJ.
The American people have a right to know whether lawyers who voluntarily flocked to Guantanamo to take up the cause of the terrorists are currently working on detainee issues in President Obamas Justice Department, Harison said. (Full statement below)
Details about the DOJ lawyers involvement in Guantánamo detainee cases are available in the article, which also points out that the Justice Department hired several lawyers who represented Guantánamo detainees during the George W. Bush administration
Holders former firm, Covington & Burling represented 14 Gitmo detainees. Still looking to see which ones:
Guantanamo Bay Detainees
We currently represent fourteen men detained at the United States Naval Station at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. Most of the men have been detained for approximately eight years and none have been charged with any crimes. Following the decision by the Supreme Court in Boumediene v. Bush, 128 S. Ct. 2229 (2008), holding that the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus extends to detainees held at Guantánamo Bay, we are challenging the legality of our clients detentions in habeas proceedings in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Of the seven cases that have gone to merits hearings thus far, Covington has won four, lost two, and is awaiting a decision in one other. Two prior clients were released without a hearing.
The firm has been involved in the Guantánamo related litigation for the last six years. In addition to the on-going habeas corpus proceedings, our efforts have included: bringing cases for review of enemy combatant classification decisions in the D.C. Circuit under the Detainee Treatment Act of 2005; challenging the destruction of CIA torture tapes in federal court; filing amicus briefs and coordinating the amicus effort in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld, 548 U.S. 557 (2006); filing amicus briefs in support of Supreme Court review in Moussaoui v. United States, 382 F.3d 483 (4th Cir.), cert denied, 544 U.S. 931 (2005); challenging the governments practice of redacting information from documents given to security-cleared habeas counsel; and challenging the abusive medical and living conditions that the detainees experience at Guantánamo.

I believe the CCR represented him. The CCR has strong ties to Covington & Burling:
And then there is the Center for Constitutional Rights, a Marxist organization that for years has coordinated legal representation for terrorists detained at Guantanamo Bay. The CCR has been attempting to convince Germany, France, Spain, and other countries to file war-crime indictments against former Bush administration officials, including President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and Secretary Rumsfeld. In representing Americas enemies, CCR has collaborated with many private lawyers, who also volunteered their services several of whom are now working in the Obama Justice Department. Indeed, Holders former firm boasts that it still represents 16 Gitmo detainees (the number was previously higher). And, for help shaping detainee policy, Holder recently hired Jennifer Daskal for DOJs National Security Division a lawyer from Human Rights Watch with no prior prosecutorial experience, whose main qualification seems to be the startling advocacy she has done for enemy combatants

Jennifer Daskal
Jennifer Daskal is an American lawyer who serves as senior counsel for Human Rights Watch, and focuses on issues of terrorism, criminal law and immigration.[1][2] She is also currently a political hire at the Department of Justice, which is seeking to prosecute terror suspects through the criminal justice system instead of through military tribunals.[3][4]
A graduate of Harvard Law School, Cambridge and Brown University and a Marshall Scholar,[5] Daskal garnered attention after traveling to the countries to which Guantanamo captives have been released, to verify that those countries are abiding by the undertakings they made to the US Government to respect the returned captives human rights.[6]
On February 23, 2010, the New York Post reported that Daskal, Neal Katyal, and three other lawyers who had worked on behalf of the civil rights of Guantanamo captives, had been serving on the Obama administrations task force reviewing the status of the remaining Guantanamo captives.[7] The paper had first questioned her appointment to the Department of Justices National Security Division, in July 2009, and then again in January 2010
Obama administration idiocy, thy name is legion.
So are we to conclude that Petraeus is not a man of integrity?
There is a lot of history about Tony West.
Campaign bundler.
Ties to an enemy of Fienstein’s buddy who ended up dead. The one who might have seen/heard something about Obama during some event.
What if the Ambassador - who I believe was involved in arming the rebels- was to meet with someone - and that someone was behind the assault? A former Gitmo detainee
That would be reason for a coverup
Among many other possibilities.
This looks more and more like a CIA fiasco
Remember that there had been talk of transferring the Blind Sheik.
There is still the Hillbuzz story about a planned kidnapping of Stevens that went wrong - possibly an asset that turned against them.
“So are we to conclude that Petraeus is not a man of integrity?”
It takes the ability to deceive to be the head of the CIA.
All questions should point directly to the CIA as you try to figure out what really happened.
The interesting thing is that I think Chaffetz knows a lot of what went on- and he is devastated by it. You could see it in his face in that brief moment that the camera panned on him after Gowdy’s speech.
Apparently so. They all sure knew about that video before the demonstrations and bloodshed began.
3 hour 25 minute mark. Watch Gowdy to the end of his speech for the pan to Chaffetz
http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/LibyaCo
He knows.
It might not be what it used to be (and a grand pity if that
is the case), but I’m not following the situation all that closely either.
It was being deliberately disseminated around the area by Islamist rabble rousers who wanted to create an excuse for rioting. That ought to have been a clue, together with the approaching date, that something was afoot.
Thanks for posting that. Really interesting info.!
I am not so sure it was not created for that very purpose. Obama sure was apologizing real fast for its existence.
The author was reportedly a Christian Arab. Such persons are usually not interested in stirring up Islamic riots.
This talks about the assault being carried out with AMERICA WEAPONS, impossible to verify by says a witness interviewed saw them. Wow this is getting bazaar. Ambassador killed with weapons we supplied?
Only the JonStewart media told US this guy was a Coptic Christian. Our government protectors have been completely silent on who he really is.
Oh no. They stepped in it big time. This is going to be highly entertaining. Popcorn?
My theory: 30,000 Stinger missiles swapped for release of sheik and other concessions. Worked out with previous occupant released from Gitmo. Ambassador was to be kidnapped and ransomed for sheik without public knowledge of the SAMs. Raid failed, some reports ambassador died of smoke inhalation, so body was photographed as if it was carried off by a spontaneous crowd. Hide the evidence and blame the film which was funneled into Egypt by the CIA/State department as a deflection for unrest in the region. Hence the repeated statements by HRC and others without provocation that the US Government had nothing to do with the video. It's just my tin foil hat theory....
Wow I’m totally shocked by this! And that’s not sarc! I knew Obama doesn’t particularly try to hide what side he’s on anymore, this is beyond “in your face, America!”
Ad I haven’t even looked at the links yet. Thank you very much for the info! It’s too bad the info is so detrimental to our country.
I can only guess, which would be that he knows that whatever is coming will be so bad for us mere citizens that whichever of them takes the blame won’t matter anymore.
The very first claim that it was the video was from a staffer at the US embassy in Egypt- not just any staffer but one of those personnel whose duties were deemed important enough to remain at the embassy when all nonessential staff had been sent home in advance of the protests.
Mark...

My take on the matter is that there are two separate and distinct actions that went on during 9/11. First was the demonstrations in Cairo and the rest of the Arab world presumable caused by the video. The video, my opinion, was created by the progressives to stir up the mideast and support the implementation of the UN proposal ban anyone slandering their butt-wipe prophet. It was funded by Soros or others from the progressives. The embassies were alerted BEFORE the video was publicized by the Cairo newspaper which was part of the game. The Libyan operation was a separate action regarding recovery of weapons that we furnished the rebels. The video may have been a cover operation to make noise while they tried to buy back or some how recover the weapons. The two former Seals were not guards for the ambassador but were part of a team trying to find and recover the weapons who just happened upon the attack. If we see jetliners shot down with surface to air missiles, we’ll know what was really going on. Also note, that next to Saudia Arabia, Libya is the biggest provider of Jihadists to the warring countries.
Hmmmmm ping!
Great dot connecting crosslink!
Maybe he’s been drinking at the same bar as John Roberts.
There is something else that the Committee and Mr. Chaffetz know, but are not allowed to tell us... IT IS THE METHOD OF AMBASSADOR STEVENS' DEATH. Rep. Gowdy became very emotional when he referred to "four brave Americans who died under circumstances that we can scarcely imagine." Gowdy is not referring to smoke inhalation here - it is clearly more terrible than that. It is apparent that the four Americans were raped and sodomized; after all, it is the Muslim way.
Thank you all for the great comments! Please keep up the good work here and elsewhere.
Were these lawyers part of The John Adams Project?
I have seen a video that shows that this was a false flag operation all along. False flag ops are supposed to be CIA operations, correct? If this is a false flag op, I wonder what the outcome was supposed to be?
You have some good points. They might not be connected the right way or it may be exactly what happened.
Here is what I think:
This is a CIA FUBAR.
It involves those missing weapons.
It involves the Blind Sheik.
Perhaps to prevent a terrorist attack with the missing weapons -they made a deal with the devil they armed.
It went awry.
Their cover story blew up. Maybe because it is an election year. I don’t know.
In the past, the CIA involved Hollywood- The White Crooner and his brother -to make a porn tape in their efforts to overthrow a dictator.
It’s possible they were behind the infamous current tape.
I agree. Those two people in Congress know exactly what happened to Stevens. You can tell it by Gowdy’s speech -especially in the anarchy part of it.
You can tell it on Chaffetz face.
The only hope that we have of learning something of the truth is that our regime is about to change and there are missing weapons that can be used against us. This is a CIA FUBAR.
We rarely uncover a semblance of the truth when those happen.
Who pays the detainee lawyers?
The problem is that this administration's ability to deliver rewards for playing ball is severely compromised if Barry does not win in November.
It then logically follows that as Barry's probability of winning drops, the potential rewards of turning "leaker" increase.
It wasnt an intelligence failure, it wasnt a communications failure, and it wasnt a failure in the chain of command. It was a decision making failure before, during and after the attack in Benghazi.
Here is a thoughout assessment...
