Sen Graham, Ayotte and McCain release statement regarding Sec Clinton's statement
Facebook ^

Posted on 10/15/2012 7:33:27 PM PDT by Perdogg

just sent out this statement with Senator Kelly Ayotte and John McCain about the attack on our Consulate in Benghazi.

"We have just learned that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has claimed full responsibility for any failure to secure our people and our Consulate in Benghazi prior to the attack of September 11, 2012. This is a laudable gesture, especially when the White House is trying to avoid any responsibility whatsoever.

"However, we must remember that the events of September 11 were preceded by an escalating pattern of attacks this year in Benghazi, including a bomb that was thrown into our Consulate in April, another explosive device that was detonated outside of our Consulate in June, and an assassination attempt on the British Ambassador. If the President was truly not aware of this rising threat level in Benghazi, then we have lost confidence in his national security team, whose responsibility it is to keep the President informed. But if the President was aware of these earlier attacks in Benghazi prior to the events of September 11, 2012, then he bears full responsibility for any security failures that occurred. The security of Americans serving our nation everywhere in the world is ultimately the job of the Commander-in-Chief. The buck stops there.

"Furthermore, there is the separate issue of the insistence by members of the Administration, including the President himself, that the attack in Benghazi was the result of a spontaneous demonstration triggered by a hateful video, long after it had become clear that the real cause was a terrorist attack. The President also bears responsibility for this portrayal of the attack, and we continue to believe that the American people deserve to know why the Administration acted as it did."

Wrote this in another thread...

In one of the debates Romney needs to ask these questons:

Who told Susan Rice to say what she said?

Who within the intelligence community told YOU that there was a demonstration caused by the video?

Where did they get THEIR information?

Did you, Mr. President, ask them where they got THEIR information?

Why did you and your surrogates represent to the American people with certainty that their were spontaneous demonstrations resulting from the video that contributed to the Benghazi murders when no such evidence actually existed?

If necessary talk about transparency and the need to know the answers to these questions in order to prevent a reoccurence.

If Obama doesn’t answer these questions, then ASK THEM AT LEAST TWICE MORE so that people understand that Obama is refusing to give a straight answer to a straight question.

If he asks these questions he won’t need to label the President a liar - his inability to answer them will plainly demonstrate his intentional deception.

No. It is the responsibility of the CiC to attend security briefings. He is the President. You can't blame the national security team if the President won't participate in the briefings

The State Department was in real time communication with the Consulate during the attack. They also spoke to the 25 or so people assigned there that survived the attack. It was known just two days after the attack from a local guard who was wounded during the attack that "not even an ant was moving" outside the compound before the attack.

Obama and Rice have been lying.

Good solid statement. Lays out the facts, without any hyperbole.

Balls in your court, Obama.

Exactly, and that is why I would like to see Romney take the time during one of the debates to ask the questions I posed so he can nail Obama and expose him for the liar he is.

The libs keep saying that there’s nothing that could have been done, that they had no way way of knowing that an attack was coming.

The attack exceeded all expectation, yet this administration will be found woefully incompetent at reasonably mitigating the threat. Missing the intelligence briefings did not help. Cozying up to the enemy did not help. Blaming it on a video did not help. Inserting both thumbs in butt while mission burned did not help. One way or another, we WILL find out whether it was incompetence, or something more nefarious.

But whatever falsehoods spew forth from those responsible, rest assured the MSM will ignore it, and your typical liberals will label them as mere "inaccuracies."

Obama is in a damned if you do - damned if you don’t situation ...

Of course he is...to NORMAL Americans. But with the compliant media at his beck and call, it will be turned into a "Republicans making a bad situation into a political one all in an attempt to get Obama three weeks before the election" scenario. They will switch the blame to Romney as they did at the start for "trying to score points" over a terrorist action where Americans were killed.

It really shouldn't matter when something like this happens so much as why it happened. No doubt they will string us along for as long as they can, spinning it every which way but loose, until AFTER the election is over. And if Obama wins, it will not matter and will be swept under the rug. If Romney wins, then it will be thrown in his face that he won "unfairly" by smearing poor Obama over something HILLARY did. How I wish we could replace what calls itself "professional" journalism at the same time!

The buck stops there.

I think Hillary did a brilliant move with that statement. While appearing to try to take the blame from Obama, she instead pointed out that the buck stops at the president's desk, ala Truman, and that a real President takes responsibility. I see Willy's hand in this.

The town hall debate today probably won’t deal as much with Benghazi as I would appreciate, but that is OK as it turns out.

The Foreign Policy debate in nine days is when Romney as well as the rest of the GOP really need to put the screws to Zero’s administration about it. The way the information mill is working, the subject is going to be pretty mature by then, and people will be listening.

I am more convinced that it may have something to do with the weapons given to the AlQ working with the “rebels”. If that proves to be true, we’re talking about the “Mother of All Gun Walking”.

Do people really want to re-elect someone who is suffering a scandal worse than Watergate? Do they want to see another two+ year period with that kind of troublesome drama in DC? I think not, and believe that some number of people will change their vote from -bama to Romney for the sole reason of avoiding that.

The trap is being set. With Hillary "seeming" to be in it up to her neck, and McCrazy and Grahamnesty being the ones helping to lay the snare, the question for me is: whose side are they on? I don't know.

Bingo! You are right on the mark. Hillary is not smart enough to have thought this up by herself. This is Billy’s doing. Dick Morris has been saying it for months and it rings true. The Clintons hate Obama and have not forgiven or forgotten what Obama did to them in ‘08. They don’t want Obama to be reelected. They know he is a disaster and would make it impossible for Hillary or any democrat to be elected again if he gets another 4 years.

This was a brilliant political move. By taking full responsibility, the Impeached One knows that this further exposes the true perception of Obama’s detachment and weakness. Anybody with half a brain would know that the NSC would have to know the ongoing situation in Benghazi and be obligated to inform the President. This is beautiful coming just days after it was publicized that Obama attends only 43% of his National Security briefings. Then in the proceeding days after Sept. 11 there were riots and demonstrations in Libya, Egypt and other hotspots that went on for days. Rather than get with the NSC and State Dept. to get to the truth then, they sent Susan Rice out with their ridiculous video farce.

Bill Clinton is simply brilliant. He can claim that Hillary took the fall to protect the president right before the election and save the party. He knew full well this will blow up in Obama’s face while at the same time demonstrating that he and Hillary are being fully loyal. It doesn’t get better than this.

I posted elsewhere that Romney should say in one of the debates the following:

“President Harry Truman said the buck stops here. Apparently in this administration the buck stops with Hillary”

man...talk about low hanging fruit, Romney can have a field day with this at the debate tonight, and the final 3 weeks. If i was Romney tonight, id ask Obama directly..”did you know about the preceding attacks in Lybia?...if yes, why didnt you respond to requsets for more security?...if no, did you skip the briefings??...what other attacks are being planned that youve missed”?. This could be historic...the total collapse of a presidential campaign. If they thought they were losing women voters now...Hillary doing this will make them leave in droves. Plus, any voters that were kinda leaning that “hey, lets give the guy another 4 years..this’ll be the nail in that coffin. You just know Romney is sleeping with a smile on his face tonight..i kn ow i am. A shame its come to this...he was never fit for the office of President of the United States.

It is a fine statement and serves the purpose of keeping the pot boiling. There are plenty who will be calling for HC’s resignation in a short time.

It also rightly points out that there is NO way The Disaster could have been ignorant of the security situation there not even if he missed half or more of the daily security briefing. Thus, it confirms his utter lack of judgment or outright treason.

This statement brushes Hillary aside to concentrate on the real issue, her boss.
