Clinton's Excuse: 'Fog of War' to Blame for Misinformation from Susan Rice on Libya
Weekly Standard ^ | OCT 15, 2012 | DANIEL HALPER

Posted on 10/16/2012 7:30:08 AM PDT by Qbert

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the reason the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Susan Rice, gave misinformation to the American people is because of the "fog of war." According to the notes of Wendell Goler of Fox News, here's what Clinton had to say:

On Rice ‘grew out of a protest’ assertions: “the fog of war. The confusion you get in any type of combat situation. Remember this was an attack that went on for hours…there had to be a lot of sorting out…everyone said here’s what we know subject to change.”

Clinton's excuse for Rice is because the U.N. ambassador went on five Sunday talk shows and said in several different ways that the deadly attack in Benghazi, Libya "grew out of a protest" outside the American consulate there.

That is not at all what happened. Apparently the fog of war was too thick for Rice to accurately say what happened there. In fact, the State Department now says there was no protest at all outside the consulate there.

Instead, the attack that killed the American ambassador to Libya, Chris Stevens, and three other Americans was the direct result of a planned and coordinated al Qaeda terrorist attack that was aimed at coinciding with the anniversary of the greatest al Qaeda attack again America in history, 9/11.

The attack took place five days before Rice went on those shows and made those false assertions. But only now is the fog beginning to clear.

Clinton also said today that "the buck stops with her," according to CNN.

"Can the president of the country not get answers when he wants them? Give me a break."

Exactly. Plus, the whole nation knew the next morning that an attack occurred and an ambassador was murdered- instead of taking the time to ask questions, Obama darted off to a fundraiser.

And it happened on the anniversary of 9/11- how stupid do they think people are?

So if this was an act of “War”, why were Oblabla and co. apologizing. Maybe “war” is now code for “Cover Up”.

I think I read that Hillary was watching the attack in real time.

You don't play fair.

Hillary had her hair down.

When Hillary has her hair down you're supposed to see her as the victim and treat her as the victim.

What did she say, it's an increasingly dangerous world?

Translation “Zippo’s foreign policy is a complete failure and it's not my fault. I'm the little victim here”.

To be fair, there wasn’t near enough time for the Whitehouse to run enough response scenarios through a diversity of focus groups to gauge the most politically correct response to this crisis.

"It needs two sides fighting to be a war. Obama the showman has been running a fog machine."

Yep. The Obama administration is trying to getting everybody focused on what happened after the attack in order to try to side-step the series of failures that led to the attack on 9/11.

Fog of War?
When has Hillary ever seen combat?
There is a big difference between putting you own life in danger and putting someone elses life in danger.
Obama is at fault not Hillary. If Hillary did not have the situation under control, it is Obama’s fault.
Hillary works for Obama, even if she screwed up, it was Obama’s responsibility to oversee her and give her direction, not roll over in bed and hit the snooze alarm.

On September 14, two days before Rice went on the Sunday shows, Hillary said at the ceremony at Andrews AFB with the four flag-draped caskets in the background that

"This has been a difficult week for the State Department and for our country. We’ve seen the heavy assault on our post in Benghazi that took the lives of those brave men. We’ve seen rage and violence directed at American embassies over an awful Internet video that we had nothing to do with."

Did the "fog of war" last until Friday? Hillary was still pushing the video. The State Department had real time contact with the consulate during the attack and the 25 personnel who survived the attack and were evacuated were debriefed a day later. This is ludicrous that Rice was unaware of the facts five days after the attack.
