Sequestration will not happen, Obama says in final debate

Sequestration will not happen. President Barack Obama made this assertion Monday night during the third and final presidential debate in Boca Raton, Fla. "The sequester is not something that I proposed," Obama said, of the $1.2 trillion in automatic budget cuts set to kick in on Jan. 2. "It's something that Congress has proposed. It will not happen. The budget that we're talking about is not reducing our military spending. It's maintaining it."

Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney used the debate to outline their different approaches to reducing federal spending.

"We're going to cut about 5 percent of the discretionary budget excluding military," Romney said.

The former Massachusetts governor said he would balance the budget within eight to 10 years by reducing spending on a number of programs.

"Number one I get rid of is 'Obamacare,'" he said. "There are a number of things that sound good but, frankly, we just can't afford them. And that one doesn't sound good, and it's not affordable, so I get rid of that one from day one; to the extent humanly possible, we get that out. We take program after program that we don't absolutely have to have and we get rid of them."

The media is missing this entire bombshell.

This statement by Obama is simply incredible. For months, he has refused to meet with Congressional leaders to come up with a plan to stop what even his own Defense Secretary says are "devastating" cuts to Defense.

When cornered during a debate with Romney, he said last night that sequestration will not happen. The problem is, it is now law and will take place in January if nothing is done. Perhaps 1.5 million jobs will be lost if sequestration takes place.

A White House underling has tried to spin this into saying what Obama meant to say was "should" not happen, but the President nor his campaign has clarified this incredible statement from last night.

Before the lights were out at the debate hall Obama's aides were revising his remarks. He now said "Sequestration should not happen."

Obamessiah LIED... he said “will not happen”, but AFTER the debate the White Hut “clarified the issue” = “What he meant was it “SHOULD NOT HAPPEN”. My take.....

I think he is correct. The Congress will eventually maintain the current tax policy and actual sequestration will not take place. It may be in early February rather than late December
but there will be no actual sequestration.

Fox said that Axelrod was “spinning” the president’s statement from “will” to “SHOULD.”

We’ll have to see what the MSM decides that we heard the president say. (sarc off)

And Obama came up with the idea of the sequestration, so he lied about that, too. If Democrats need confirmation of that, it’s in Woodward’s book, and he’s still a saint in Dem circles because he brought down Pres. Nixon.
