A new poll released today by Time magazine shows President Obama with a 5-point lead in the critical battleground state of Ohio, which has sided with the winner in 27 of the last 29 presidential elections.

To answer your first question: the Time poll of 783 likely voters relies on a D+9 sample. Thirty-seven percent of respondents identified as Democrats, while 28 percent were Republicans and 29 percent Independents.

Notice how the liberal pollsters are focusing their efforts on OHIO.

This means one thing folks -— THAT IS *THE* STATE that will elect our next President according to the electoral college.

Forget the National Polls. Ohio it is!!

D+9? What a joke. Guess PPP would advise R&R to pull out of OH. Time for some truth telling: Romney UP in OH.

OK, someone knowledgeable from Ohio tell me what the more realistic D/R/I breakdown should be in the Buckeye State because the above sampling sounds suspiciously unhinged to me.

Sure he is!! Democraps got it in the bag... no need for Democraps to even wake up before the polls close at 9PM.

You can't go cash your welfare check anyway, the banks are closed on election day.

Heard a local interview with Mo Brooks, Huntsville, Al area congressman. He and Marsha Blackburn are leading a team of around 100 Tea Party Patriots from Alabama, Tennessee and Mississippi to Dayton to knock on doors for Governor Romney. They left this morning. Prayers up.

I hate to break it to all you poll groupies and handwringers..you NEVER before November 6th see a definitve “Romney has Ohio in the bag” from the MSM or even the polls showing this. You kmow why? That would be an admonition that Obama lost. So some of you need to go take a walk in the park, spend time with your kids, go knock some doors and stop with all the agita and emoting here and annoying the rest of us. Ohio is Romney’s now go get a life.

Romney leads among independents in this poll by 13. In 2008 Obama won Independents by 8 points. Jay Cost and number munchers was all over this on Twitter.

More Independents were polled than were Republicans. This poll is +9 Democrats, yet Obama leads by only 5? What does that tell you?

Forget the National Polls. Ohio it is!!

Actually, forget the Ohio polls, and follow the national polls, because the national polls are the Ohio polls.

What has been ignored in all the discussion about polling is that, historically, the GOP candidate's share of the vote in Ohio correlates very closely with his share of the national vote.

In 2008, McCain earned 46.5% of the national popular vote; his Ohio share was 47.3%. In 2004, George W. Bush earned 50.7% of the national popular vote; his Ohio share was 51%. In 2000, George W. Bush earned about 48% of the national popular vote; his Ohio share was 52%.

You can go back even further, but the results are the same - GOP candidates tend to equal or overperform their national popular vote percentage. I feel confident in predicting that if Romney is leading in the national polls on Election Day, he will carry Ohio.
