“His problem is his daughter is a militant lesbian.”

I know people who let a disaster like that effect their faith and politics; it is a shame. When I sin I don’t think the commandments should be amended to accommodate me; I’m just a sinner, and have to deal with that.

I’m sorry that you have that situation in your family.

Obama erased Romney’s edge about men? Yahoo is on crack.

I would add that Romney has the married and older women already.

The key fact is that without white men, Obama won’t win. I don’t see him getting a majority of the white male vote on Election Day.

Gee, I wonder if the talking heads will discuss Obama’s gender gap and his lack of appeal among female voters. The “gender gap” sure has been a popular topic when Obama had an advantage.

I am probably more "gay friendly" than most Freepers here, but the fact remains that it is a disorder, it is abnormal.

Unfortunately, no one is going to look into the real causes of it, because from both Left and Right, there is no impetus to do so. One side wants to say it is simply a normal but alternate state of human existence, the other wants to say it is simply a choice. Humanity loses.

I also believe that it is INCREASING, perhaps due to some environmental factors (phytoestrogens, plasticizers leaching into the environment, something). Because of the stubborness on both sides, we may never known. Right now, there may be young children growing up who might have the tendency, but with proper treatment, could be steered in the right direction.. but no, I wont see that in my lifetime I think.

“Where I part company with some FReepers is that I believe (aside from the psychological dysfunctional component) there is a genetic aspect as well (again, still dysfunctional) for many.”

Completely agree. I remember going to grade school with a couple girls that were boys and vice-versa. We knew they were gays back then, period. They were born that way. A couple of them had normal siblings. And like I posted here before, some of suspected gays have been looked up on Facebook and “SURPRISE”/s they have “life partners”.

Something went wrong with the sperm milkshake/egg landing field hand-off in those cases.

How do you know that perverts/munchers hadn’t already done their “magic” on these girls?

1st, 2nd 3rd grade at an Italian Catholic School in the late 70’s/early 80’s taught by nuns? Doubtful. There weren't “outreach” programs back them. None of the priests were ever outed as diddlers (I was an alter boy back then as well).

And the few I'm thinking of LOOKED abnormal - the girls were bigger than most boys and looked mannish the boys were sissys. Plus, most of them had normal siblings.

I vote genetics.

The governmentfatherhusband turned out to be a drunken, gambling addicted bum who couldn’t fulfill his promises to provide for and protect “his” women like he’d inherently promised to.

Well, they've pretty well mapped the gene code. As far as I can tell, no packer gene.

“I have a brother who supports Obama. He is as liberal as he is uninformed. The man is 100% clueless. He calls me a “right-wing extremist” whenever I try to show him the real Obama proving the point that you just can’t fix stupid.”

LOL, I have the very same “problem” if you call it that. Mine hates Republicans, right-wingers etc and is pro-union and he is the OLDER brother. I don’t even talk to him unless it’s required, like say, scheduling whose house we will spend Christmas Day on for the family.

Same here. Older in this case definitely does not mean wiser. Example: he hates Bristol Palin with a passion but cannot say why. He just says he doesn't like her. I have flooded his brain with the truth about Obama. His response was to say he isn't going to vote for Obama, that he will be writing in Ron Paul. When I asked what part of Ron Paul's platform appealed to him he couldn't answer. He said he considered Paul to be an honest man, more so than Obama or Romney.

It's clear he has no interest in talking to me so that's not a problem. And given that he recently unfriended me on Facebook, I don't have to talk to him at all. He and his family don't celebrate Christmas so that's not a problem either. So how rational is he? He thinks Michelle Obama should run for POTUS in 2016. lol!

I'm not in the "they were automatically born that way and can't help it" camp. Some people may be naturally effeminate and have a disposition to fall into a homosexual category later in life, but I don't think there's some gene you're born with that gives your mind no free will and ensures you will only be sexual attracted to the same gender.

Gays are right that homosexuality is no different that heterosexuality, and I think Impy and I noted the same thing -- in grade school, we didn't "know" we were straight. We didn't know anything about sex or even "felt" like we should be with the opposite sex for unknown reasons. Girls were "icky" back then -- we weren't "born" attracted to females. Our sexual orientation didn't manifest itself until puberty. Children have no sexual orientation and don't understand that sort of thing. Sure there are grade school kids that naturally seem like few masculine girls and very feminine boys, but that doesn't "guarantee" they'll be gay some day. Perhaps a combination of factors such as environment can cause one feminine male who is more "comfortable" with the same sex to develop same sex attractions, whereas another feminine male who is more "comfortable" with the same sex will just become a metrosexual straight man who writes self-help books.

One of the people I know who claims he was "born gay" was married to a woman and had two (now teenage) daughters until he "discovered" he was "born gay" when he was 37 years old. Other prominent homosexuals like the "gay bishop" of New Hampshire, Vicky Gene Robinson, were given female names and raised by their parents to behave like girls, hence the conditioning is certainly part of the reason they developed a male-sex sexual orientation. And as a final argument, there are numerous well known "gay" celebrities who claim they were "born that way" and can't help it, only to suddenly become straight overnight when they end that relationship and get into a new environment -- without any "brainwashing" from anti-gay church groups (Ellen's former girlfriend, Anne Heche, for example)

On a global scale, it's similar how a lot of people might "naturally" have fascist tendencies and ideologies, but they won't develop into a genocidal maniac like Hitler unless you can replicate the economic conditions of 1930s German that would ALLOW that ideology to be taken to its most extreme degree. I think the "God made them that way" stuff is liberal propaganda, basically designed to force churches to endorse the gay agenda and promote homosexuality as healthy and normal (You can't discriminate against them when GOD made them that way!!")

Now, all that being said, if there's ONE issue on the gay culture war where I disagree with fellow conservatives, it's the argument over the national ban on allowing gays to donate blood. Liberals want blood donating bans to be based on overall sexual lifestyle and conservatives want to keep a blanket ban on anyone who's ever had gay sex. I had to look at the science on this one, and the facts are that this ban was put in place in the 1980s, during the height of the AIDS panic, when blood wasn't being screened carefully for diseases, and people in a homosexual lifestyle were far more likely to have tainted blood. The last part is still true, but the current federal guidelines are that ANY person, if they've ever engaged in sexual relations with a person of the same gender -- even ONCE since 1977 -- is banned from donating blood. I have to agree with the left on this one -- there are numerous people in gay relationships who are perfectly healthy, and numerous people who are 100% straight and have a far more reckless sex life because they're drug addicts, prostitutes, have constant one night stands without protection, etc. The guidelines for donating blood should be based entirely on high-risk behaviors of all sexual orientations, and not assume someone is automatically "high risk" if they ever had gay sex at any time in their life. Certainly a lot of "gays" should be totally banned from ever donating blood, but so should a lot of straights. It should be based on their overall actions, not what gender they did it with.

Even worse is the “transgendered”, that is obviously a very serious mental illness that leads people to mutilate their genitals. And that’s the proscribed treatment! Insane.

It’s shame no one really tries to help other than churches who use prayer and not medical science. These are the only mental disorders that we are supposed to “accept”. No one tells depressed people to go ahead and stay sad, or tells scitzos to go ahead and keep believing they are King Arthur.

Is their a genetic factor to being gay? Almost certainly yes and a major factor at that. But not the only factor I’d say.

And as pointed out, some of those guys marry women and seem to have no trouble having kids, so they can’t be 100% gay unless you tell me they’re thinking of Brad Pitt every time they do the wife.

I read something once about this band that was all gay men and they talked about how much they liked having sex with all the (female) groupies.

Some people are genetically likely to be serial killers, they don’t necessarily have to be if someone could help them. (doesn’t seem to be any cure for that though). This “born that way” mantra is therefore invalid. The response is “so what?”. Some people are born deaf, should they decline treatment? (Believe it or not their are “militant deaf” people that say yes they should! Crazy)

As for blood donation, eh sorry I would not want any from a gay man. Charlie Sheen wouldn’t be a great choice either but still, no thanks, better safe than sorry.
