Muskego - Police are investigating an incident in which an Obama campaign sign was set ablaze, likely with a flammable liquid, in the yard of a Muskego home last weekend.

Obama's name could still be seen in a corner of the melted sign, but it otherwise almost entirely burned up, even leaving some spots of blackened grass on the North Shore Road home of Bill Schuele.

Authorities believe a small amount of a flammable liquid, such as gasoline, was used to help ignite the fire about 11 p.m. Saturday. A car driven by the suspected arsonist was seen by a passerby, police said.

Schuele, who has lived on North Shore Drive for 25 years, viewed it as an unsettling attempt at intimidation.

"It reminded me of Mississippi in the '50s," he said, referring churches and other property were burned by opponents of the civil rights movement."

I'll take giant irrational leaps for $1000 Alex. Saw this linked on NewsBusters comparing this lavish 400 word story to the massive 79 word story they did on the state senator's son that was beaten trying to protect his sign.

When will these people ever learn. It’s only REPUBLICAN signs that you can burn!

It would be funny if it was found out that the home owner burned the sign. (Or the Obama campaign)

LOL! He was probably burning piles of leaves and his Obama sign caught fire. He doesn’t sound like he’s very bright.

What a coincidence that these types of things are happening in the swing states. Ohio, Wisconsin, any others?

“It reminded me of Mississippi in the ‘50s.”

If Bill were in Mississippi in the 1950’s they might have burned his house. They would have left his car alone hoping he would drive back to Wisconsin.

Tires are punctured because of a Romney or Tea Party sticker, stories of Romney signs set ablaze come across the net daily and nothing is done. One Obama sign catches fire and it’s international news.

If they catch the guy, Holder will send a team of prosecutors there and charge him with a FEDERAL HATE CRIME, saying burning an obama sign is the same as burning a KKK cross in the yard.
