SNIPPET: "Indonesian anti-terror police, Densus 88 secure a terror suspect's house during a raid in Mojosongo, Solo in Central Java. Indonesian police have arrested 11 members of an Islamic group allegedly planning attacks on American diplomatic missions, a spokesman says."

SNIPPET: "The group had planned to hit the US embassy and a US consulate, as well as a building near the Australian embassy in the capital Jakarta that houses the office of American mining giant Freeport-McMoran, police said.

Police said they were from a new outfit called HASMI, the Sunni Movement for Indonesian Society, and explosives and a bomb-making manual were found when members were arrested in locations across the main island of Java.

"The group's objectives were to attack the US embassy in Jakarta and consulate-general in the eastern Javanese city of Surabaya," national police spokesman Suhardi Alius told reporters."

“Indonesian police investigate letter allegedly written by wanted terrorist”

by Farouk Arnaz. Posted on October 18, 2012, Thursday

PHOTO CAPTION: “A Densus 88 anti-terrorism police officer stands guard in front of a house in Depok, West Java. A letter directed at Densus 88 written by a supposed terrorist spells out an open challenge to the squad; it reads that if Densus 88 are ‘men’ they would fight the East Indonesian Mujahedin force openly. SNIPPET: “The National Police are currently trying to verify the authenticity of a letter taunting the police’s anti-terror detachment allegedly written by a wanted terrorist, Jakarta Globe reported news.
The terrorist, Santoso, who is also known as Abu Wardah or Abu Yahya, is wanted for his supposed involvement in at least three armed attacks on police posts in Central Java in August that left one officer dead and two injured.

Santoso is also believed to be conducting paramilitary training with a terrorist organization in the Poso district of Central Sulawesi.

Hackers inserted the letter into the East Kalimantan government’s website.”
