Perhaps all of this is symptomatic of a power struggle within the Democrat Party...

...”The officials said that at no point was the team told to wait.”

Perhaps the CIA officers were purposefully never given a response (hence, not told to wait/stand down) to request for permission to assist at consulate, so they just went. BUT, when they requested assistance from higher up, everyone who could have helped them, was told to stand down. i.e, the ‘stand down’ request was not against the consulate’s request, but against the agents request for help?

No matter what....the spin isn’t going to work...it will all come out...we just have to keep their feet to the fire. Hopefully FOX is focusing on the CBS coverup and not this piece of ‘official’ trash.

“They say the team tried to get heavy weapons and other assistance from the Libyans, but when none was available left anyway.”

Interesting that the report by Jennifer Griffin on Fox two nights ago said the second drone sent (hour later) was unarmed! Guess the weapons on that baby would be too heavy for a spontaneous crowd.

I saw that too...

1) Beck discovers CBS has damaging emails and failed to report, Beck seriously threatens to expose (yesterday)

2) At 6:30 pm today CBS headlines it’s ‘wordplay’/spin on emails: Sources: Key task force not convened during Benghazi consulate attack “CBS has learned....”

3) Exactly 1 hr. later, AP tries to cover for CBS story by sending out ‘official’ explanation: US officials: No delays in rescue effort in Libya

4) @10 pm...NPR is all over the story, supporting Obama...
U.S. Offers New Details Of Deadly Libya Attack [absolutely LOADED with hogwash!!!)

I didn’t even read this, but I know what it’s about. The MSM is trying to lay down a cover right after the storm coverage to get Obama to election day. I am not buying anything that comes from anywhere except Fox news. Even then I take it with a grain of salt. There is a cover-up in progress and I can’t stomach reading the MSM propaganda that is wholly aimed at protecting their champion. Many books will be written about this and a large number of them will be from frustrated people who were told to stand down when they could have helped. The truth will come out. Obama, to the MSM, is the goose that laid the golden egg. Well he just laid a turkey egg, and he can blame all he wants, but he did it to himself. Tuesday can’t come soon enough.

The officials told reporters that when the CIA annex received a call saying the consulate was under attack less than a mile (1.6 kilometers) away, about half a dozen members of a CIA security team tried to get heavy weapons and other assistance from the Libyans.

But when none was available, they went ahead with the rescue attempt. The officials said that at no point was the team told to wait.

Hmmmph, it looks like they're referring to Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty et al who just happened to be there and -- against orders -- went on ahead to the aid of the consulate personnel.

I've always wondered where this story came in: Libya Rescue Squad Ambushed; Two Americans Killed; to whom are they referring?

Actually Glen Doherty was not at the annex initially and did not go with Woods' team to help at the main consulate compound. He was part of the team of eight people who flew in from Tripoli to help at the annex.

Woods' team consisted of six or seven American employees (who they worked for and what their exact jobs were I don't know) and about 17 members of the 17th February Martyrs Brigade. (or whatever they're called) The Libyan militia guys secured the perimeter of the consulate and chased back the attackers while Woods and his American team went in and rounded up the survivors, five of them, and Sean Smith's body.

They died of smoke inhalation, with Smith being pulled from the building already dead, and Stevens being found almost dead hours later. Their deaths are on Hillary and Obama.

Two people in the same building- they had both been in the same room with the seal/contractor before he slipped out the window... with overwhelming smoke...and one lives four hours longer than the other? I know joggers have good lungs an computer techies -if they don't excercise- might have lousy lungs... but four hours difference if cause of death was smoke inhalation?

I think that was the mixed American-Libyan group that was sent early the next day after it got stalled at the airport, and had to try to find or hire transportion from there to the fight because the US braintrust was totally unprepared. We don’t equip our guys with anything these days apparently.

The ‘seal/contractor’ was not the one with Stevens and Smith, he was at the ‘annex’ and came later to help, but Stevens could have found some corner or cubby hole with the least flow of smoke flowing through it and breathed through a moistened piece of cloth or something like that greatly prolonging his life whereas Smith may have been looking for an exit and neglected to try and filter the air he was breathing.

Thanks, I did not know where he came from, until I saw the CNN timeline [ http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2953506/posts ] — how did I miss it; do you have a link?

So, was Doherty part of the group that, as piasa said, got delayed at the airport at 2 am?

Yes, Doherty came from Tripoli with seven others to evacuate them from the annex. I’m not sure the early story that said they were ambushed at a farmhouse and two were killed there was accurate. I suspect that was just a confused reference to the attacks on the annex and the deaths of Doherty and Woods. I have seen no clarification on those points at all.

There was no rescue mission. Woods was the guy that needed rescuing. The administration had no idea how long they could hold out in a firefight and no military assets were deployed to help Woods and company. Moreover there was no military security in Benghazi for American territory, no RRF in the area and Obama was partying in Vegas the next day with the one percenters as they showered him with 1% bucks.

America’s journalism community is a disgrace.

Thanks for clarification. Guess I’m chagrined that I did not realize that earlier, even w/frequent FR keyword and poster comment/Breitbart/Drudge et al checks.

Interesting but not surprising, doing a google search of “Glen Doherty” turns up mostly links to his mother being upset at Romney for earlier campaign mentions.

This timeline helps >> http://directorblue.blogspot.com/2012/11/twin-timeline-what-was-happening-in.html I’m printing out extras to leave around.
