Akin to get $800,000 in ads from Now Or Never PAC
St Louis Business Journal ^ | 110112 | Greta Weiderman

Posted on 11/01/2012 4:34:52 PM PDT by Fred

Now Or Never Political Action Committee will spend $800,000 on television ads for Republican Todd Akin, who is campaigning against incumbent Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill, The Hill reports.

The group’s ad asks voters who “don’t agree with everything he says” to back Akin anyway, and it focuses on winning Senate control and defeating McCaskill.

“In the Senate, Akin will vote for Romney’s policies to get Americans working again,” according to the ad. “Claire McCaskill would fight Romney every step of the way. To avoid Washington gridlock and get this country back to work, our best choice is Todd Akin.”

Go ahead, make me next.

for the record, I’ve never attacked any poster, only Akin because he has earned it with his stubborness and stupidity.

Why should Akin have stepped aside so the establishment could select the candidate they wanted? it would not have been Brunner or Steelman but someone that was not even on the ballot. The voters in MO elected Akin to run against McCaskill and if he had filed the paperwork to withdraw it would have cost him over 200,000 dollars not to mention it would have disenfranchised some military absentee ballots. We followed the process and we have a good conservative candidate running against a full blown liberal. The choice is clear and easy.

Glad you hope he wins but his remark is no worse than Romney defending socialized medicine in Mass. Akin is a smart man that made a gaffe and apologized..the gopE are the ones that jumped the gun in their response.
I would prefer Akin in the senate over McCain, Graham and a slew of other republican senators. Check out his record.
Now Rove should be fired ...his remark was way out there. He deems himself to be the God of the republican party.

You have entirely missed the point. Of course you have not attacked a poster but you HAVE hijacked every thread that sheds a positive light on Todd Akin. When I say you have constantly attacking those FReepers who believe in expressing their CONVERSATIVE view points, I am referring to their support of Todd as a true conservative.

I have yet to read a post from you referring to Todd's conservative credentials. All you say is that he is "stupid" or "someone else would have been much better". You never, once, have said how much better that someone else would be. The fact of the matter is, recent articles from reliable sources have proved that a GOPe endorsed replacement would have given McCaskill an even more boost in ratings.

You have never stated, as many other have, that Akin voted against the stimulus; voted to repeal Obamacare 30 times; Has ab A rating with the National Rifle Association; 100% pro-life; 100% from the American Conservative Union; voted against cash for clunkers; voted against the Wall St Bailout, etc. etc. etc.

Why are you badgering these threads with ONLY negative posts? I since a trend here and a HUGE number of CONSERVATIVE Free Republic members are getting really turned off with your kind of posting.

Think about this, Staytrue. Look back on your history of Akin threads that you Hijacked. Look at you 100% negative posts. READ Todds credentials. I challenge you to post his TRUE CONSERVATIVE background. Oh, yes, I keep forgetting his only "stupid".

Good intentions don’t get you elected, thoughtful campaign oratory does.

Tell that to Karl Rove and Reince Priebus. The difference in this race is not Akin's words but the GOPe's over the top reaction to his words. Even McCaskill's supporters have acknowledged that and are playing some of the GOPe's histrionic reactions in her commercials.

I have an Engineering Degree from one of the best schools in the country, and I am religious as well but for you to make that a negative sound bite against Akin is totally our of line. If I had to stop posting on Free Republic for every spelling or grammar error, I guess per your standards, I should be gone from here a long time ago.

Look, you are kicking Todd in the groin for one 15 second gaffe. Why are you doing this? McCrackle loves you. You need to use that Engineering Degree for better purposes. We all make mistakes. You don't have it in you to "forgive". Todd admitted his mistake and I forgive him. Can you?

“We all make mistakes. You don’t have it in you to “forgive”. Todd admitted his mistake and I forgive him. Can you?”

It’s not my place to “forgive” Akin. As I said in my post I hope he wins, because we need that seat. I don’t know his past, evidently you think, despite this terrible gaffe he is deserving of the support of the Missouri voters. My comment is general. I am just wondering out loud what’s wrong with some “conservatives” that they haven’t got the good sense to stay away from commenting on matters relating to females and reproduction. My wife is from Las Vegas. We were very hopeful that Sharron Angle would beat Harry Reid, but like Akin, she went off the reservation with some kookie comments and shafted herself. Reid’s son was hit by a truck in his bid to be governor at the same time. So it was Angle who poisoned her own well. As for McCrakle, I can assure you, she doesn’t love me. And I have never done anything to blunt the efforts of Akin to get elected. Tuesday, we will see if he has managed to heal what he did with the voters of Missouri won’t we.

I am no fan of the GOPe. As a matter of fact, if they manage to screw up this election, I plan to re-register independent. The GOPe went after Akin because they didn’t like him to begin with, and saw an opening to get rid of him when he shot himself in the foot. He should have been a whole lot smarter than his words conveyed. The problem I have with some “conservatives” is that beyond the common bonds of basic conservatism, they have some really odd ideas. That’s how Akin seems to me. Maybe it’s his religion, I don’t know, but you can see the damage he did to himself with people who would, absent his untimely remarks about abortion, have willingly voted for him.

I happened to be watching the Akin interview that Sunday morning and was not taken aback by his “notorious comment”. I understood Akin’s words to imply forced rape, as opposed to statutory rape. His words were sadly misconstrued by some people and deliberately distorted by political operatives in efforts to affect the November election.

Todd Akin’s gaffe was not worthy of destruction of his political career. He did NOT do anything illegal or immoral or malicious. He did NOT deliberately disparage women who were impregnated by rape. And Akin’s business dealings did NOT make his family rich at the American taxpayers’ expense.

Claire McCaskill’s husband, Joe Shepard, made business deals in the Senate dining room, selling tax credits tied to Obama’s stimulus money. Businesses affiliated with Shepard have received almost $20 million in federal subsidies for low-income housing developments during his wife’s first five years in office. Mccaskill’s obscured misuse of her office for financial gain is far more offensive than a few misspoken words.

By the way,
Akin was right that a female’s body can “shut down”, or more aptly said, “fail to ovulate” in case of stress or trauma. Fertility experts can attest to that fact.......

Important Facts to Know About Ovulation:
An egg (ovum) lives 12-24 hours after leaving the ovary.
Normally only one egg is released each time of ovulation.
Ovulation can be affected by stress, illness or disruption of normal routines.
http://netwellness.org/healthtopics/pregnancy/pregmenstrualcycle.cfm

Stress can definitely interfere with conception.
That’s because stress can affect the functioning of the hypothalamus — the gland in the brain that regulates your appetite and emotions, as well as the hormones that tell your ovaries to release eggs. If you’re stressed out, you may ovulate later in your cycle or not at all.
It’s important to differentiate between constant and sudden stress. The body often acclimates to constant, everyday stresses, so you’ll probably ovulate fairly consistently each cycle. It’s sudden stress — a death in the family, an accident, divorce — that can throw your cycle off and interfere with ovulation.

The Science of Stress and Fertility
Pisarska tells WebMD that the effects of stress may be different for each woman.
“Stress may cause one set of reactions in one woman, and something else in another, so ultimately the reasons behind how or why stress impacts fertility may also be very individual,” says Pisarska.
While doctors may not know the exact links between stress and fertility, a series of studies shows the impact is hard to ignore.

Stress and Fertility
By Michael C. Darder, MD & Susan L. Treiser, MD, PhD
Q. Can emotional stress affect fertility?
A. Severe stress can prevent ovulation, and that, of course, makes it impossible to get pregnant. Significant stress can affect the hormones in the brain that direct egg development; the eggs stop growing and there’s no ovulation.

So if that’s true and we have all these “highly educated” Missouri voters taking note, why isn’t good old Todd winning by a landslide? Do you really think most people know, or give a damn about what you’ve written. And gee, I don’t think that a woman who is ovulating at the time she’s is suddenly raped has the ability to stop the process. Just what are you using for intellect. I am completely amazed! You make my case for the looney right!

The GOP E aided and abetted the enemy by tossing Akin to the wolves so fast. There are other urgent issues such as Obamacare (which Akin voted to repeal 30 times) Supreme Court Justices, taking control of the senate and forcing Reid out (which would make your wife happy), the economy, coal, energy, etc.
Rove was very unprofessional to joke about murdering Akin at the convention. The GOP and Fox ignored Rove’s remark and he is the “God” of the party. It is one thing to fight McCaskill but the Priebus and Cornyn did not need to add fuel to the fire. They even left Akin OFF the GOP senatorial map.
