Holy God,

Gratefully as the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, we come to You---not out of our own worth, but solely because of the finished work of our Savior upon the Cross, we approach Your throne of grace. And grace is truly what we need now, Father, because if You were to decide to give us what we deserve, we all would perish. Thank You, Precious Lord, for Your unending love, Your amazing grace, and Your compassionate mercy.

Tomorrow, Lord, as we approach the election of our highest leaders, may we remember Your direction to pray for and to bless Israel with our votes. We know that the nations that have turned their backs on Israel are no longer blessed. Help us, Lord, to always stand with, defend, and encourage Israel no matter what the cost. Our nation has been living in a dense atmosphere of dusk in which we have few remaining allies who trust us and those who are our enemies fear us no longer. They taunt us, intimidate us, and manipulate us. Righteous God, help us to make wise choices tomorrow. And let us no longer sit by and allow our nation to choose cursing instead of blessing.

Lord, it is an abomination that our brave military men and women are finding that their right to vote is being suppressed in many instances. Help us, Lord, to defend those who put their lives on the line for us. Can it be that we are more inclined to allow the illegal alien to vote than we are to defend the rights of our own military to cast their ballots in a timely manner? Lord God, let it not be that we have lost our way to the point that we no longer even attempt to right a flailing ship. Help us, Lord God for Your Name Sake, and for the memory of all those who went before and gave their lives for this nation---for all those who received Your guidance in planning this country many years ago.

Make us part of the solution, Lord---not only in our nation’s politics, but in every area of our lives. We want to be the victorious for that is who You have called us to be. The victory has already been purchased for us. Let us stand and take back this nation, beginning with every household, every school, every church, every institution, every town, every county, every state, until once again we can confidently say: We are one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. In the powerful Name of Jesus Christ, in Whom we trust, Amen.

Time to vote the Bible. Time to take a stand. Time to be victorious. Time to begin the recovery. Time to seek God with all our hearts. For His glory . . .

Beyond Just And Fair

November 5, 2012

Working conditions in England during the 19th century were abysmal. Men, women, and children labored in dangerous factories during the day and went home to dirty tenement slums at night. Many of the factory owners cared little for the well-being of their employees.

But during that time, the owners of the Cadbury chocolate company were different. Quakers by conviction and business entrepreneurs by giftedness, they focused on improving the working conditions of their 200 workers. The Cadburys built a state-of-the-art factory with heated dressing rooms, a kitchen, and recreational areas. And to care for the employees’ spiritual needs, the workday started with Bible study.

Colossians 4:1 tells us: “Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.” Certainly the Cadburys sought to give their employees what was just and fair. But their heavenly orientation motivated them to go a step further to meet physical and spiritual needs.

Though we may not own a company, we do have regular contact with a variety of people. As believers, it is important to be ethical in our dealings. We can also, with God’s enablement, care about others’ well-being through prayer, encouragement, and the meeting of physical needs (Gal. 6:10).

Lord, thank You for loving us and meeting our needs.
Often You bring people into our lives who need Your
love and care. Give us wisdom to creatively reach
out a helping hand that we might share Your kindness.
God blesses us so that we can bless others.

Read: Colossians 3:18–4:1

Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven. —Colossians 4:1

My precious sisters in Christ,

Let us stand fast together in faith, fully believing that our God shall supply all our need according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus. Joy will come in the morning.
