Boehner lays down a marker on taxes (Obama's already a 4 year Lame Duck)
cnn ^ | 11/6/2012 | Deirdre Walsh

Shortly after multiple networks projected that Republicans would retain control of the House, Speaker John Boehner took to the stage with a message that looked ahead to the battle over the fiscal cliff - the GOP isn't budging on taxes.

"With this vote, the American people have also made clear that there is no mandate for raising tax rates," Boehner told supporters at the Ronald Reagan building in Washington.

Considering he is the head of the majority party in the HoR, he should work his ass off to institute the values of such party and its voters instead of working hand-in-hand with Obama.

First of all: There are no final victories and ni final defeats. There is only what you make of tomorrow.

Now, as far as the House goes. Thanks God for these guys. Stop picking on Boehner. Obama basically has zero mandate because of his vote total and because of his small-ball campaign. Witht that said, a negotiation of some kind needs to take place because it has to. Raising taxes on the rich is a stupid idea only because it accompishes nothing in terms of handling the debt. But, it’s negotiable if and only if we can get what we want in return. This is how it works guys.

The real problem is Obama has no plan as to how he’s going to pay for all this utopian spending. He really shold have passed it when he put all of his silly laws in place to begin with. Now, he’s got to go beg the GOP house for compromise. It’s unclear how he gets things done with all the fiscal stuff hanging over his head.

We’re in for a pretty rocky stretch.

Give it a rest.

The House controls ALL spending.

Cheers!

I am actually feeling like we should give this commie everything he wants, and let the system collapse. We aren’t that far.

Despite the pain and suffering, that is probably what is needed to wake some of our brain dead fellow citizens.

Well this may be a final defeat, see Ginsberg is 79, Kennedy & Scalia are 76, Breyer is 73.

Obama may get to appoint 2-4 USSC justices. IF Obama replaces Scalia and Kennedy with 2 of his fascist we are cooked.

Agree with you. Picking on Boehner is ridiculous at this time, especially since he is taking the right stance here.

Boehner needs our prayers, not our ridicule.

He will pass whatever budget the Dems want to avoid the terror of having the public throw him out of office for shutting down the government!

The power of the purse is merely the power to hold the purse open so they can also clean out the small change.

I don’t know why people are down on the Speaker of the House. Frankly, Boehner and the House GOP are the only branch of the national GOP that has its act together.

Boner always takes the right stances...he just never performs.

The fear of losing power is strong in this one, as it is in his colleagues.

Change? What change? All America has left in its purse is a couple of kleenex and maybe a piece of stale candy.

Boehner is a feckless political hack. He isn’t going to stand firm on anything. The House could have thwarted Obama 2 years ago but they caved. They agreed to the financial package which included sequestration. Obama will now let it go through and gut our military.

The minute Obama goes on TV and says if the GOP does not raise the debt ceiling he’s not sure if the SS checks will go out Boehner will cave as usual. They always have and they always will. Only Newt Gingrich ever stood firm and look what happened to him.

Everyone better be making plans as to where they plan to hunker down when the SHTF in about 6-12 months and we go over the fiscal cliff. It will probably spark a civil war.

Boehner gets bills passed.

If the Senate doesn't act, there's not much more to be done.

You don’t think that Boner’s leadership role in the one part of one branch of the government Republicans control has anything to do with the outcome of what should have been a slam dunk?

What did the house do of any importance to stop Obama? They allowed them to never have to pass a budget because of an agreement he reached.

What would have been the outcome if the Senate and Obama were forced to justify a national debt of $16,000,000,000.000.00? Do you think that the public may have asked a few questions if the Republicans had done anything other than issue some tepid and unseen press releases? Instead, no one has to talk about math.

This man, like the entire GOP establishment, bears the responsibility for the outcome of this election. They picked the candidate. They picked the strategy, they picked the battles to fight (none), and they attacked conservatives who pointed this out.

That’s why we attack Boner - he pretends to lead and then does not lead.

There will be higher taxes. Why? Because to avoid disaster both sides have to compromise. We need to lose Boehner and all the establishment with him.

the GOP isn't budging on taxes.

It doesn't have to budge. The law right now is that taxes go up in 55 days. Obama will try to brow beat Boehner into dropping taxes on lower income people while keeping taxes high on those with higher income. I say screw that. Let everyone go over the fiscal cliff.
