This Is The Last Time
Vanity | 11/07/12 | Veritas2002

Posted on 11/07/2012 4:32:50 AM PST by veritas2002

This is the last time I will be voting in a national election. I am in my 60's and have concluded that, if this is the kind of governing Americans want, they should have it...and all its consequences.

Sour grapes you say? Perhaps. But after four years of the most abysmally failed government with consistently high unemployment, 16 trillion dollars in national debt, downgrading of our bonds and monetary system with printing of dollars by the Fed, attacks against freedom of religion, a loss of American leadership in the world, class warfare, homosexuality embedded in our fabric, our nuclear family deconstructed by government policies, gun running to Mexico and lies about it before Congressional hearings, refusal to protect Americans serving in our embassies across the globe, an energy policy that has tripled the price of gasoline at the pump, a Justice Dept that treats people not according to an equal application of the law but according to politics, a politicized press that is derelict in adequately informing the people about its government, attacks against free markets and capitalism, and on and on and on...

If given all this, the American electorate is either too blind to see or thinks that this exemplifies good government, then have at it. Just count me out.

But, some day perhaps people will wake up. My guess is that it will be too late and things most cherished - civic values long held dear - will be gone forever.

In the meantime, this retiree will collect his pension and social security and together with savings watch those younger and smaller in number figure out how they will pay for all the 'government hand-outs' and supportive services the 'baby boomer' generation that is about to retire will require. All the time doing so without the tax revenue on the income they earned while working. They will have to figure out how they, a very much smaller cohort of taxpayers will make up the difference.

They will need to come up with some better ideas than one Barack Obama and his list of accomplishments from 2008 to present. Good luck but you won't be seeing me at the polls ever again. It's been a ride. Adios, Americanos.

Paying the refs off is part of playing dirty...

It’s the first part, I believe...

Right after picking the refs...

Moses was 80 when he led Israel to the Promised Land, and it is not only about voting.

veritas, you expressed my sentiments exactly when I went to bed last night. I have also voted in my last national election. The state and local elections may not be that far behind. The national elections have been rigged. They have been rigged by an educational system that values “feelings” over rational thought and critical thinking. They have been rigged by a culture that values greed, envy, instant gratification and personal gain against the ethics of faith, work, and sacrifice. They have been rigged by a national propaganda complex of “news” and entertainment organs that shape events.

0bama is not the architect of these things, he is only the result. An empty suit who was placed in a position of power by historical forces that have been brewing for over a generation.

The “elections” are Potemkin-village window dressings now. “It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything.” A quote from Joseph Stalin.

The GOP will be kept around for a generation or so as part of the window dressing. But after our generation has passed, there will only be one party. The trend is not our friend.

I hit the same conclusion. Seriously, what do you propose to do? I’m looking for a plan and some ideas. It’s time for me to invest some time doing something beyond complain, vote, raise my kids, work, and pay my taxes. I frankly have no clue how to begin.

This is my last time too... not the last time I vote, but the last time I listen to the “Vote for my guy or you are just electing the other guy” crowd.

My vote is now based upon the candidate that best represents my views and beliefs ( I harped that this election I was gonna do that, and changed my mind. What did that get me?).

If the freepers and others who were refusing to vote for the socialist lite did just that, we could have made a statement that maybe the gop-e would have heard.

Instead, I once again listened to others, and basically threw my vote away.

Never again..

I think that says it all. All the organizing and politics will not bring the country back. Until we repent, things will just get worse. Policies are not a return to God albeit they useful for a time. God will determine who lives here and under what system. He apparently for ever reason (probably 56 million abortions) thinks we have ticked him off enough. Without the USA and liberty, the world becomes Detroit on speed. Revenge is upon us courtesy of ozero.

Understood. America wants its drugs by the hundreds of tons, its pornography at every turn, its easy and cheap infanticide and it’s going to get what it wants no matter the cost.

When a smarmy, whore monger can tell off color jokes to a crowd and not be called on it, what more can be lost?

I wasn't going to post again, but I have to say that you have articulated exactly how I feel and think today.

The race and class warfare practiced by the current administration on the results of thirty plus years of indoctrination by the public school system as an organ of the Department of Education, has left our country with a ignorant assembly of takers, who have absolutely no understanding of costs.

They will have a peachy time, until they run out of our money.

I will take my civilian and military pensions and the 401k funds that I have put away since they were introduced and live my life and take care of my wife and son.

This is not the America that I grew up in!

I’m sitting here this morning feeling exactly the same way. I am going to retire and collect my due as long as I can. My country has let me down and is traveling on a path I can no longer accept. It’s the winds of change to be sure, but not a change I can live with. I will now give my allegience to my God and my family.

the Dems and the media will be able to pin it all on Bush, the way historians still fault Hoover for the Great Depression, ignoring how FDR's policies prolonged the suffering.

Yup.

At this point my husband and I are with you, and we are only in our forties.

We have a God-hating, pervert-loving, economy-destroying, America/Israel-hating Marxist in the White House. We had a candidate with gobs of money and momentum; “experts” from state governors (Kasich!) and local ground people to TV talking heads guaranteeing a win; polls that favored us; and record turnout. And yet we still could not beat Obama.

The country is increasingly brown, increasingly entitlement-hungry, and increasingly stupid. My formerly great state of Virginia went blue. If Republicans couldn’t win this time around, when will they win again? I’m not seeing the point of it anymore.

Being retired, and having planned for my retirement since I was in my 20’s, I like you will focus on ME and MINE now.

Your post rings true on so many levels, and the day will come when the TAKERS
realize they have been TAKEN, and look for someone to blame and realize they
did it to themselves

Good Morning to all.

There are some very good comments here about picking ourselves up and not giving up - and of course that is the thing for all of us to do. Take a few days and get some distance from the shock.

I'd like to add something into the mix that I have not yet seen presented.

Our young men and women in the military face greater challenges and danger than the rest of us ever come close to facing. They don't give up when the going gets tough. They band together and defeat the foe, time and time again as we have done for hundreds of years under circumstances that make ours laughable by comparison.

So, take a deep breath, thank God that you are still alive to enjoy another day, lick your wounds and move ahead with purpose.

Stay strong for all the Patriots who came before you, for the ones fighting today, and for those yet to come.

Grow a pair, don't give up and allow evil to win.

You start out your post claiming to be a wise elder, and then start your bully boy tactics. I'm tired of board bullies like you. You are an arrogant, self righteous jerk.

This is your quote...”Now grow up and stop throwing temper tantrums. Overcome. All of them: the press, the Socialist-Liberal Democrats. The letter agencies. The religious left. All of them.”

You come on here and insult and abuse people who just lost an election; playing by the rules, doing the best they could. You give them nothing but cliches and your loathesome self righteousness.

You are a jerk and a fool, and you are nobody’s “elder” but your own.

Votes did not count. Sitting there watching the “Election Results” <1% votes counted and the State already decided! Bullcrap, our votes do not count. Voting is a big farce. What a sick, sick , sick joke!

For the first time in my life, I am really ashamed of my country. I will continue to vote, but I’ll be damned if I will continue to pull the wagon anymore. I will not empower the rabble to live life without working and spit out more babies to vote against my children.

I have three grandchildren. When I see them next at Thanksgiving I will encourage each of them NEVER to fight inthis country’s military - either as volunteers or if conscripted. In the latter case, they should ex-patriate.

There was a time when I thought our country was worth fighting and dying for. No more. We have thoroughly disrespected our military.

When the Vice Presidential candidate says to the father of a murdered Seal that “his balls must have been the size of cueballs” and that canddiate is re-elected to office, no one should ever consider serving our country in the military. The people do not deserve the kind of loyalty and bravery they give. Sorry, but I have reached my limits. This nation has made its choice. It’s over.

“My Grandfather told me that every other person you meet on the street are morons. I am now totally convinced of that assessment. I have nothing in common with over half the people in the United States.”

Your grandfather was being kind.

At least 2/3 are morons. The dangerous thing about democracy is that it gives these morons the power to affect your life.
