Victory without Triumph: Tough Road Ahead for Obama after Lackluster Win
Der Spiegel ^ | 11/07/2012 | Gregor Peter Schmitz

Barack Obama made history in 2008. But only now has he completed his personal success story. If American voters had failed to re-elect their first African-American president, it would have tainted Obama permanently with the flaw of something left incomplete, leaving him a historically important president, yet ultimately not a significant one—the latter distinction being one Americans generally reserve for presidents who make it to a second term. …

Obama didn't lose, though. But does this mean the Democratic candidate has achieved a historical triumph? No, it does not. Obama ran a lackluster election campaign, one distinguished more by harsh attacks on his opponent Mitt Romney than by pride in his own accomplishments. Just how narrow the victory was can be seen in the popular vote count. While the incumbent easily defeated his challenger in the Electoral College, he only managed to eke out a razor thin majority of total votes cast. …

… In contrast to the election in 2008, the results of which the Democrats falsely interpreted as a broad mandate, Obama must for now tackle the issue that is most important to the American people—jumpstarting the economy and creating more jobs. Around 60 percent of US voters told exit pollsters that this is their most important concern. …

There will be a lot of pressure on the GOP to not be obstructionist, but sequestration must happen. The tax hikes will hurt but they will be across the board and hit many of the 47 percenters. It will also trigger spending cuts, which as we all know never actually follow the compromise tax hikes as promised. Furthermore, since it can happen in the lame duck session it should have minimal effect on the next election. We need to call our congressmen and demand it happen. It’s really the only “bipartisan” solution that has anything close to a chance of creating reform.

What makes the win for barry obama most devastating is this:

OBAMA DOES NOT WANT A HEALTHY U.S. ECONOMY!

Hey, he won with a lousy economy, what is the incentive to do anything differently? Getting the economy “back on track” does nothing to support his stated goals? Does it? Please correct me if I’m wrong, someone.

nobama is bound and determined to drive this country into the ground. His strategic alliance with the Cloward-Pivin theory will not work if he doesn’t.

Enjoy the ride. It is inexorable now.

Not only is the imminent crash all his, though he actually wants it,

it belongs to his supporters as well, though they would deny that it is their policy that caused it.

They need to understand, and be told, ahead of the actual crash, what’s coming and that it is

SQUARELY THEIR FAULT.

“Obstructionist’’? Hell Yes! They ‘’won’’, remember? Stand in their way. Shove this right back at every liberal in the land. Every downturn in the market, every business closing. Make them own it and answer for it. They got their victory but make them regret every moment of it.

Make them own it! They won, they’ll pay for it. Don’t give any liberal a moments peace. Get in their faces and give it back to ‘em!

Indeed this will become, if it isn’t such already, the ultimate Pyrrhic victory.

Massive tax increases, higher food prices, higher gas prices, down sizing military, backing away from Israel leaving them to the Arabs, huge layoffs coming as a results of Obamacare, high unemployment, more to come.

What tough road? The country is already basically destroyed. It will be easy to finish his goal.

Yes, I would love to see the House Republicans block the debt increase.
Harry Reid has just announced that he would not be “pushed around.”
It is time for the House Republicans to finally stand firm. All spending bills must start in the House. They have the power. Let them finally use it.
