Lt. Col. Ralph Peters On Petraeus: "Timing Is Just Too Perfect" (Video)
Real Clear Politics ^ | 11/9/12 | Lt. Col. Ralph Peters

LT. COL. RALPH PETERS: The timing is just too perfect for the Obama administration. Just as the administration claimed it was purely coincidence that our Benghazi consulate was attacked on the anniversary of September 11th. Now it’s purely coincidence that this affair -- extra-marital affair -- surfaces right after the election, not before, but right after, but before the intelligence chiefs go to Capitol Hill to get grilled. As an old intelligence analyst, Neil, the way I read this -- I could be totally wrong, this is my interpretation -- is that the administration was unhappy with Petraeus not playing ball 100% on their party-line story. I think it's getting cold feet about testifying under oath on their party-line story. And I suspect that these tough Chicago guys knew about this affair for a while, held it in their back pocket until they needed to play the card.

I would rather see Paul Ryan as Speaker.

They pulled the hole card on Obama’s opponent in the contest for Illinois senator. These people are evil and all those that voted for Obama are blind or of the same ilk.

Per Politico: The investigation began because of “two women”.

"Patreus will tell the truth and that will be the smoking gun."

Hopefully he'll be called on to testify. Unfortunately, he won't be able to outrun the spin cycle & will probably be reduced to a laughing-stock by the time it's his turn.

The list of men in high places who fail because of a woman goes on & on & on.

Some fail because of it, some escape, and least for a while.

King David
Edward VIII, the Prince of Wales
JFK
Clinton
Tiger Woods
Newt

You’re absolutely correct, one must be good at politics to make it to the top or have an influential “sponsor” in Congress who can trade in your favor. Obviously Patraeus is a statesman. A politician would not have been thrown under the bus by Obama.

Off the top of my head: they tried to blackmail him into lying under oath before Congress and he beat them to it by publicly admitting the affair. My hope is that this will allow him to testify fully and truthfully (even though he may require a subpoena in order to comply fully without risking further adverse action since he’s still active duty).

I though he was still active, too. Musta missed that one, Haden served while still ADAF. Not necessarily a bar to testimony to have an IG investigation ongoing, but they’d have to recall him to AD in order to give him an order not to testify - and even that might not be a “lawful order”.

So, what are you identifying as the “simplest” answer?

We’re in uncharted territory here, especially with this corrupt a POTUS and DOJ etc. Even Dempsey is a Quisling, and Panetta has disgraced himself for life with his insane Benghazi excuse that “The U.S. military doesn’t do risky missions.”
