HAPPY VETERANS DAY!
It is good for us to draw near to You, to put our trust in You, and to declare all Your wonderful works. It is good for us to set aside our troubles, to forget our heartaches, and to come to Your heavenly throne to worship You. You are the strength of our hearts and our portion forever. Even when our hearts are heavy, You lighten them. Even when hopelessness badgers us, yet You are our Rock, our Fortress, our Refuge, our Sure Defense. Lord God, make us to dwell in the shadow of Your wings where we can hide in the secret place and know that we are safe from all the cares of this world.
We grieve for our nation, Lord, but we must continue to go forward without allowing our sadness to immobilize us. We acknowledge that the election was Yours to decide. Help us to accept the path You have chosen for us. We know that You always do that which will bring about the greater good, and though it is hard for us to see how that result can be obtained with four more years of the present administration, yet we must trust in You. You give us more grace---that which enables us to do what we could not do without You.
Today we honor our beloved veterans, Lord , and we come with thankful hearts for those who currently serve, as well as those who have gone on before us. So many brave men and women----each with a special story to tell. We are truly grateful for them, Father, and we ask You to reward them richly for their unselfish defense of their nation and its people, as well as those of other countries. How blessed we are to have a strong military, Lord, and we come against any plots and schemes to reduce its strength and effectiveness in any way. Father, send forth Your mighty angels to surround our military men and women wherever they are. We pray for Your loving support to hold up all of our veterans and to provide all they need. Help us always to show our debt of gratitude toward all who have served.
Lord, we pray Your protection over Israel and Your blessing upon her to continue. We pray that America would once again defend and support her, Father, for we know that You bless those who bless her and curse those who curse her. May the prayers of the saints all over this nation bring blessing to America and to Israel.
Now Lord, may we be strong in You and in Your power. You have appointed each one of us for this time and place for Your own special reasons. May we all be willing to fulfill the purposes You have for our lives. We trust in You to lead us through the darkness as well as through the light. We ask all this in the powerful Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
