States petition to secede from union

They don't want to take their country back. They just want to leave it behind.

As the dust settles in the wake of President Obama's decisive reelection last Tuesday, the White House petition website has been flooded by a series of secession requests, with malcontents from New Jersey to North Dakota submitting petitions to allow their states to withdraw from the union.

Most of the petitions submitted thus far have come from solidly conservative states, including most of the Deep South and reliably separatist Texas. But a handful come from the heart of blue America - relatively progressive enclaves like Oregon and New York.

All told, petitions have been filed on behalf of 20 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.

Many of the petitions invoke the Declaration of Independence's dramatic assertion that "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government."

This is a waste of time. Why help Obama weaken America?

I guess I will just post what you said again......And ask, what type of opposition are YOU doing?

Anything? Writing letters? Yeah that's helped.

So, under what circumstances might you actually take a stand? I’m thinking the disappearance and persecution of a few hundred thousand citizens just might impress a few “undecideds”.

It may well be a waste of time, but it is now certain that the United States we all thought we had is no longer. We have a thoroughly corrupt system - to include all three branches of the Federal Government with the rot having already consumed most state and local governments, including the courts, and spreading rapidly to the rest.

I would much rather live in a state or group of states that recognizes and honors Natural Law and the freedoms that spring from it.

I think I’ll just side with Lincoln on this one.

You'd be siding with the American Caesar and original statist. Lincoln Fairly Tales are just so much reconstructed history. It sells books and movies.

With this stolen election, the rule of law is dead and the Constitution lies in tatters and shreds.

I served in the military (please don’t thank me) to protect and preserve the American way of life - but this isn’t waht I served to protect.

IMO, our only hope to preserve the liberties and Freedoms for which America has stood for 200 years is to divorce the blue states and secede.

The Founding Fathers are soooooooo proud of you right now. They took an oath to give up everything, including their fortunes and their lives, to bring the dream of America to life. And, most of them lost everything, including their lives, as a result.

If you are afraid of your own government, DO SOMETHING besides cowering in a dark corner!!

Yep. You can thank Lincoln for everything from the EPA, the federal gun laws to 1.5 liter-per-flush toilets. He is the person most responsible for destroying the federalist system our country was founded on.

Some "conservatives" (poor things) still believe their public school indoctrination and think he's a great guy.

I'm with you. Lincoln's "story" is a classic example of how history can be written to be anything you want it to be. Lincoln seriously messed up a great idea (the Constitution)!

When our government lists citizens who value the Constitution, quote the Founding Fathers, own guns or hold tightly to their Bibles as possible terrorists, and that same government allows voter fraud to usurp free elections, then signing a petition on the socialist web site is the least we have to worry about at this point.

I signed the one for Texas figuring I was already on someone’s list by virtue of the feds attitude toward what I hold dear.
