Motor Trend magazine has named the Tesla Model S its Car of the Year. The magazine's staff selected the all-electric plug-in luxury car out of a field of 11 finalists that included models such as the Ford Fusion, Porsche 911 and Hyundai Azera.
It is the first time the magazine's Car of the Year award has ever gone to an all-electric car.

I remember the Vega. Not a bad-looking car, but an engineering disaster. Plus they rusted quickly.

I imagine it is a real thrill to own and drive just for fun.
However, how is it just for transportation?
Is it economical?
Is it insurable?
Is it comfortable?
Is it comfortable for a family?
Is the battery chargeable elsewhere than at home?
Is financing available?
Is it suitable for car-pooling?
In addition, the most important question of all. Will it get you laid? If so, is there room in the car?
Motor Trend’s been a joke in the automotive journalism industry for a couple of decades already. They’re not “car guys”, they’re wussies. Even “Car and Driver” has drifted astray somewhat since Patrick Bedard retired.
