Motor Trend magazine has named the Tesla Model S its Car of the Year. The magazine's staff selected the all-electric plug-in luxury car out of a field of 11 finalists that included models such as the Ford Fusion, Porsche 911 and Hyundai Azera.

It is the first time the magazine's Car of the Year award has ever gone to an all-electric car.

I remember the Vega. Not a bad-looking car, but an engineering disaster. Plus they rusted quickly.

Funny how you don’t see many on the road today.

Someone in my area apparently bought a Leaf recently, I’ve seen it several times.

One of the ugliest cars ever made. It has a big graphic on the side proclaiming its “zero emission” claim.

Liberals are so stupid, they actually believe that.

How cute of them to choose something that can no longer be produced because the battery producer has gone belly up.

MT has been pushing electric and hybrid for some time now. I no longer bother to read it.

Well, at least it’s American made and the govt is not subsidizing them.

I see they got a $10 million grant from Kalifornia (like they can afford it).

It’s more fun than just about anything on 4 wheels

I imagine it is a real thrill to own and drive just for fun.

However, how is it just for transportation?

Is it economical?
Is it insurable?
Is it comfortable?
Is it comfortable for a family?
Is the battery chargeable elsewhere than at home?
Is financing available?
Is it suitable for car-pooling?

In addition, the most important question of all. Will it get you laid? If so, is there room in the car?

It is a Porsche 911 Carerra coupe.
Two seats. Room for two sacks of groceries behind the seats.
26 miles per gallon on premium gasoline. No electric motor. No charger needed.
Reasonably comfortable. Z rated tires are noisy.
No nookie.

Motor Trend’s been a joke in the automotive journalism industry for a couple of decades already. They’re not “car guys”, they’re wussies. Even “Car and Driver” has drifted astray somewhat since Patrick Bedard retired.
