Romney Blames Loss on Obama’s ‘Gifts’ to Minorities and Young Voters

A week after losing the presidential election to President Obama, Mitt Romney blamed his overwhelming electoral loss on what he said were big “gifts” that the president had bestowed on loyal Democratic constituencies — including young voters, African-Americans and Hispanics.

In a conference call on Wednesday afternoon with his national finance committee, Mr. Romney said that the president had followed the “old playbook” of wooing specific interest groups — “especially the African-American community, the Hispanic community and young people,” Mr. Romney explained — with targeted gifts and initiatives.

“In each case they were very generous in what they gave to those groups,” Mr. Romney said.

“With regards to the young people, for instance, a forgiveness of college loan interest, was a big gift,” he said. “Free contraceptives were very big with young college-aged women. And then, finally, Obamacare also made a difference for them, because as you know, anybody now 26 years of age and younger was now going to be part of their parents’ plan, and that was a big gift to young people. They turned out in large numbers, a larger share in this election even than in 2008.”

The president’s health care plan, he added, was also a useful tool in mobilizing African American and Hispanic voters. Though Mr. Romney won the white vote with 59 percent, according to exit polls, minorities coalesced around the president in overwhelming numbers — 93 percent of blacks and 71 percent of Hispanics voted to re-elect Mr. Obama.

“You can imagine for somebody making $25,000 or $30,000 or $35,000 a year, being told you’re now going to get free health care, particularly if you don’t have it, getting free health care worth, what, $10,000 per family,

The premise your rebutting is a God-less Demo-coms construct diluted to that premise and promoted as such by the “MSM”.. The issue was the constitutional line created between church and state which Obama and the demo-coms crossed.

We all ran this entire campaign like it was 1980 again. That was our problem.

Most of us all thought that an incompetent boob like Obama could not be re-elected with such a poor economy.

But we learned it isn’t 1980 in America anymore. Pretty much everyone under the age of 30 doesn’t have any frame of reference to how much better things used to be. For them, as long as they’ve got healthcare, an IPhone, an Xbox and some buds to hang out with (and buds to smoke), they are fine.

And Obama used social media and smart phone technology to rev them up and get them out to the polls.

If the party does not touch the fraud, they will have it again the next time. The people who engeaged in the fraud need to have some jail time.

You can bet the guilty parties are not black, but they are Democrats.

Romney was disliked, I didn’t like him myself, but now we see what happens when you stay home. The next 4 years will be disastrous.

Obama has already gotten cocky enough to threaten the GOP over Susan Rice.

Why not he has seen what Republicans do when threatened, they cower.

Ditto. Key state initiatives can make the difference.
For example, I think the defeat of the Ohio ‘gay marriage’ initiative in 2004 saved Bush.

Many, many ,many people warned over and over and over again that the GOP cannot win with a liberal. Romney knew that, but believed that the public could be fooled if he masqueraded as a severe conservative. The public wasn’t fooled. Romney could not steal enough liberals from Obama to make up for the conservatives he lost.

I have felt exactly the same way as you for a while now. “Demographics have tipped to a point of no return” is dead on imho also. I think of it as a ‘compounding interest’ type thing. In 4 years it is gonna be exponentially just that much ‘worse’ as more of ‘em reach voting age and on the other end, huge numbers of those of the life long ‘old school’ non government dependent Americans will have passed. Sure, Romney could have fought better. Hell, I don’t have the answers, nobody does. A lot of reasons I guess but the compounding demographic issue is for front and will be from here on out due to simple math.

the health and life of the mother.

So if the "mother" decides her mental health will improve if she has an abortion it is okay?

If she decides her physical health will improve when she stops having morning sickness because she terminated her pregnancy it is okay?

If she decides her social "life" will improve if she has an abortion, is it okay?

“But just two months after he switched his position on abortion, Romney nominated a Democrat who ran for the state legislature as a “pro-choice” candidate to a perch on a state district court….Matthew J. Nestor, a longtime Democrat who headed the Division of Securities under the Democratic secretary of state, was confirmed in March 2005 to serve in a lifetime post on the Somerville District Court. When he ran for a state representative’s seat as a self-described “conservative Democrat” in 1994, Nestor made clear that he considered himself “pro-choice,” according to news reports from the time.” (Rick Klein & Jake Tapper, ABCNews.com, 6/14/07) Last Quote from FR Thread

What most refuse to acknowledge is that it was unlikely that ANYBODY could have beaten the voter fraud planned and perpetrated by the Obama machine. They seem to prefer pointing fingers, blaming Romney and blathering on about Patraeus' sex life.

RE :"A week after losing the presidential election to President Obama, Mitt Romney blamed his overwhelming electoral loss on what he said were big “gifts” that the president had bestowed on loyal Democratic constituencies — including young voters, African-Americans and Hispanics"

Great way to turn off all these groups to Republicans for the next election and to scare the remaining Republicans in congress into caving in on everything O wants, go Mitt!

Compare these:

Conservative visionary candidate:
I have been traveling the country on my campaign and what I see is the great American spirit thirsting to succeed but being held back by powers both government and private almost too great and complex to even understand.
Americans don't want handouts from others. They want to succeed and feel proud of themselves for it and to themselves be able to lift others up by being able to offer others good paying jobs with a future.
Obama doesn't offer them a future. He offers them the chains of government dependent slavery. That is death, a living death. Americans wont accept that on election day because that is not what being an American is all about.
Well I tell voters: elect me and I will break those chains that are holding them back from succeeding
I know what the government is doing wrong, not doing right and what it can do to fix this. I have turned around companies and created XXxs of real jobs, and not just government make-work jobs and food stamps that he offers that just put this country in more debt slavery. Please vote XX on election day and help turn this country around.
And God bless America.”

Uninspiring Loser candidate (Mitt) :
Whispering to contributor while being secretly recorded:
Things are really bad out there. Half the countries voters are a bunch of lazy moochers who just want free handouts and they they want the government to take them from us to give to them. You need to deep in your pockets for $$$ so I can try to hold them off for a while”

Insulting the voters always works Mitt.
Romney was a loser. He shamed himself by running.

In 2016 we should promise a chicken in every pot. Really, we should promise to forgive all student loans, free iPhones including free use plans, never ending unemployment insurance, open boarders with Mexico, and anything else the voters want. This does not mean we will keep the promises but after sworn in we would have at least 4 years to fix things, then we can ask for another 4 years with same promises because we did not know how hard it would be to get them done.

Romney lacked “fire in the belly.” I seriously doubt that he wanted to be President.

Tone of voice, pretty-boy smile, body language, choice of softball words, lack of follow-through on key issues such as the Benghazi Murders, etc., all indicated to me that he had better things to do with HIS precious time than to spend it running for President of the United States of America.

It is time for us to shun the typical RINO/GOP-Elite Campaigns Method of LOSE AT ALL COSTS.

“Whisper softly and then sit down” should be the motto of the Dole-McCain-Romney ‘Choose to lose’ Campaigns.

He sure spent a lot of time and money if he didn’t want to be president! Rather, I think he believed he had a lead and could run out the clock. If you watch football, you know what happens when a team with a narrow lead goes into the prevent defense. It worked for Romney in the primaries, but failed in the general election. For examples of candidates who didn’t want to be president, see McCain, John and Dole, Robert.

” - - - It worked for Romney in the primaries - - - “

Really?

As I remember, Romney had etch-a-sketch Harvard advisors, painfully shy canned speeches, a stupid “Obama may be a nice guy” prep school attitude, and an equally stupid smile-onto-victory speaking style that fell flat with the 23 MILLION un and under employed.

Not surprisingly, Romney never had a commanding lead until all but Ron Paul had dropped out.

Yes Romney won, but he did NOT set the stage for a big win in the General.

Then stupid Romney coasted until Ryan kicked him in the butt. By then is was to late.

Most people had already seen Romney in the Primaries as a last resort Republican Candidate. The Independents were to disgusted to vote, and the Democrats were salivating at an easy win, again.

The came the Conventions and shortly after Early Voting began.

At this time Romney actually started to campaign in a serious manner, but it was to late as almost everybody had made up their minds right after July fourth.

I thunk Tom Sowell has it right. Romney has not through through the political issues as Reagan did. We now know that Reagan was a closeted intellectual, who had spent thousands of hours thinking about politics since his days as a union leader. Not only was he a reader, but a journalist who wrote his own radio scripts. Sowell compares him with Peyton Manning, or any other experienced quarterback. Long years of experience enabler him to read the situation, and act accordingly. Romney on the other hand is the talented rookie quarterback who has to think through ever situation. Politicians such as Madison, or Lincoln, or FDR, and Reagan make mistakes, but they know how to correct them. Amateurs, such as Carter and Romney, don’t.
