(CNSNews.com) – The Obama administration named Holly Petraeus--wife of retired Gen. David Patraeus, who resigned last week as CIA director after revealing he had had an extramarital affair--to a $187,605-per-yer job in the newly formed Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

The CFPB, created by the Dodd-Frank law, was placed by that law under the umbrella of the Federal Reserve. The funding of the CFBP, which comes from the Federal Reserve, is not subject to congressional oversight.

Mrs. Petraeus became a member of the CFPB Implementation Team on Jan. 12, 2011. She is now the assistant director for the Office of Service member Affairs. Her position pays an annual salary of $187,605, according to the communications office of the bureau.

The communications office also confirmed to CNSNews.com that Mrs. Petraeus’ post at the bureau did not require Senate confirmation.

On Jan. 6, 2011, Elizabeth Warren, then assistant to the president and special advisor to the secretary of the treasury for the CFPB (and now senator-elect from Massachusetts), posted a blog about Mrs. Petraeus’ new job on the White House website……….

Well her salary would be a 'cushion' if hubby loses any benefits.

Hmmmm... he will testify under 'executive session' and most possibly NOT under oath???

Subterfuge...it's all subterfuge.

I had read elsewhere that Holly Petraeus was a big Elizabeth Warren supporter. Now we know why.

corruption and loot. Nice to know my taxes went to line her pockets. Maybe not as sweet a deal as what the first wookie got paid ($385k) as director of diversity for the University of Chicago hospital, but still pretty good plundering of the taxpayers.

Kelley, Armstrong, Broadwell, Petraeus, everyone screwing each other, and all of them screwing the taxpayer big time. But that's a big part of what government is all about.

What floors me is that anyone would think anything otherwise?!

Look at Obama, forget Petraeus!

Inclined to agree with you—one thing, that number of emails(20,000-30,000)Allen is alleged to have sent sounds like an estimate someone pulled out of their a$$. Can’t they just do a count of traffic and come up with a specific number rather than give a number with a range of 50% over the base number. Sending that amount of emails requires lots of time for a theater CO.

Has the CFPB protected, or recovered, so much as one penny for consumers? They didn’t lift a finger to help customers of Peregrine or MF Global. Do they do anything except collect big, fat paychecks?

Furthermore, if the fed is “independent,” (i.e. lacks Congressional oversight) then why is Obama in charge of offering anyone any jobs there? Either it’s political or it isn’t, and if it’s political, it should be at least nominally under the control of The People. (But, see my tagline.)

Patraeus's weakness was that he was bought with his wife's gubmint job. His downfall was that he was bought so cheap. Nobody in Washington respects small-time fleecers. Steal big! Lie Big!

Well, at least he got the lying part right.........

That’s what I keep thinking. I have doubts there was an affair, especially since it was reported Petreaus had prostate cancer. More diversions.
