MARK LEVIN: TEA PARTY ONLY THING THAT STANDS 'BETWEEN LIBERTY AND TYRANNY'
Breitbart ^ | Nov 16, 2012 | By Tony Lee

Posted on 11/17/2012 2:12:38 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Conservative scholar, talk radio host, and former Reagan administration official Mark Levin said conservatives need to first overthrow the Republican establishment to more successfully take on President Barack Obama and the institutional left.

“We cannot get through Obama and the left until we get through the Republican Establishment,” Levin said, railing against establishment consultants who attack the base and politicians who know nothing of “Burkean reform” because they have spent their whole careers “clawing their way to the top.”

In a talk at the Heritage Foundation on Wednesday with his mentor, former Reagan Attorney General Ed Meese, for whom Levin served as Chief of Staff, Levin said the Republican Party is, “devouring the conservative movement,” and the old bulls need to step aside in favor of a new generation of conservatives who are fluent in conservatism.

“It’s time for the old bulls to get out of the way and for the fresh faces who believe in conservatism and liberty and originalist principles to step up,” Levin said, criticizing those like House Speaker John Boehner for “yielding territory” to the left in negotiations.

Levin said the Tea Party consists of constitutionalists, libertarians, Evangelicals, and those who are against the rigged establishment, beltway culture that for too long has not embraced conservatism and, as a consequence, lost national elections (George H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, John McCain, Mitt Romney).

“The Tea Party is the only thing that stands between liberty and tyranny,” Levin said. “We have to defeat the Republican establishment mush in Washington, D.C.”

One way to regain their influence is to research and put up strong candidates. When I say strong candidates, it is not enough to have a great voting record, or positions/platform. They need to be able to articulate their conservative positions with a reasonable degree of skill, they need to be able to handle media and scrutiny, and most of all they need the ability know what to say and what not to say. The goal is to win as many votes as possible with sacrificing your principles.

Research the candidate is key in that there are no big surprises in their backgrounds.

The reason Massachusetts liberal Romney was successful in destroying our chances in winning this election is because the RINO loving statists (including some right here on FR) pushed him on us during the primaries. I seem to remember you being one of the cheer leaders. But maybe I’m remembering wrong?

If the tea part was in decline since 2010, it was because the GOP-e,Karl Rove, Fox News, and RINOs everywhere attacked it and our candidates over and over and over again. How many lessons must the RINOs learn?

Yes, Sir.

We are the resistance. We know where our bread is buttered, and where it is not.

We have a full term to make it happen, and it starts now!

Resistance on every front, and attacks on fronts that are weak (there are many).

I see room for the eligibility (birthers) issues, the corruption issues (fast and furious), the incompetence issues (Benghazi- though corruption is a part of that) as well as the social and fiscal issues.

WE HAVE VERY LITTLE TO LOSE- most of it is gone already.

Game on.

Neal Boortz said the parasites don’t come out in force and vote in mid term elections so we need to make a special effort to get conservatives elected in 2014. We definitely need to look to the states to block some of the Obama garbage coming our way.

It’s too bad that the tea Party supports candidates who voted to fund 0bamacare.

It’s hard for this here honky to believe that the melanistic masses will pursue that nonsense to the death in the US, howling after the literally impossible, once their former spoiled lives are clearly no longer viable. But again maybe I give them credit for more sense than I should.

I think you're reading the TEA leaves right. When the bottom falls out of the artificial, unsustainable gravy train, every single person in this country will get to work the day after.

A prosperous people can afford to indulge in such nonsense as Socialism and taxpayer-funded welfare schemes, so long as the wagon pullers are comfortable enough to put up with a little extra weight, but when that weight becomes such a burden that they can hardly feed themselves, the wagon stops, and everyone snaps back into reality. Hunger has a tendency to do that to people.

You've described that reality perfectly. And, that day is coming. ;-)

When people realize that the only answer to all social conservative issues are the fiscal conservative platforms, then the TEA party will be back.

The tea party is made up mostly of social conservatives, and without social conservatism, economic conservatism is impossible.

This is a democratic country and everyone can vote, if you aren't a social conservative, then you will vote purely for your short term self interests, get it now, for yourself.

and was active in the Steelman/Akin race

That was unclear, the tea party supported Steelman and not Akin, and one national group supported Brunner, so what portion was the problem?

At the same time, you’ve managed to dodge the evil spell, and don’t know what it’s like to be under it. Maybe, against all reason and logic, the end will be to the death, or near it, as in riots, bands of robbers, and such. That would be a great tragedy.
