Jackson Jr.’s political demise quickens search for fresh faces in black leadership [teachers union]

Before scandal would shatter his grand ambitions, when he was still a Democratic congressman and the heir apparent to one of Chicago’s most prominent political dynasties, Jesse Jackson Jr. did not shy from criticizing other politicians with heavy baggage.

[SNIP]

“The future of black politics is bright, actually,” Maze Jackson [radio host not related to J. Jackson] said. “You’ll see a new generation of black politicians with new, innovative thought processes. The old generation looked to protect the safety net as a way to empowerment. The new generation is more interested in banking, finance, utilities — things that can be impactful for the long-term.”

With the weakening of most old-line Democratic organizations across the city, Maze Jackson said the group that seems poised to try to fill the vacuum is the Chicago Teachers Union. The CTU, which has many black members, showed its organizational strength during the recent teachers’ strike.

What appears unlikely to many observers is that a relative of Jackson Jr. will succeed him or otherwise come to exert the sort of influence his father enjoyed.

“As far as the broader family legacy, I would say this is a pretty big scar,” veteran Democratic campaign consultant Eric Adelstein said. “It’s very hard to see how that Jackson political legacy is sustained by this generation, given all that’s happened.”

Now there's a pretty word for fascism.

You got it! And it's wrapped in a great big "green" government enforced bow.

"Impactful"? is that Newspeak? Or Ebonics?

The "new generation" can be summed up by the following graphic:

Those would be the dupes, not the leadership.

Does it really matter who they run? Black voters routinely re-elect criminals, druggies and lunatics.

Over the next 5 years at least $10 billion will be raised to invest in infrastructure projects– beginning with investment specifically geared toward retrofitting large commercial buildings to be energy efficient.

There are ways in which this type of investment can make money. A lot of buildings have lousy windows that leak like a sieve, inefficient ventiliation and poor lighting which for a relatively small investment can be greatly improved. Spend the money on the building and then be paid part of the the energy savings over the next twenty years.

On the other hand, since the unions are involved I suspect that this is either a way to skim the members' retirement funds into the union general fund to be spent for political control or else just a little seed money to get a pile of government dollars back.

They ( Detroit) just elected a 8X felon as a Michigan legislator.

Convicted of felony fraud 8 times, claims he is now a changed man. I think he is about 30 yrs old.

If you could open a chain that sold only cigs and Colt 45 malt Liquor, you’d make your pile.

Until the EBT cards get shut off...

This whole thing just makes me sick to think that Jesse Jackson Jr. got re-elected while being hospitalized for God knows what, and to think that our great American hero, Allen West went down in defeat.

I’m beginning to hate a lot of things about my country. I know, I must hang in here, but its getting harder and harder when things like this happen and the way the conservative blacks get treated. It makes my blood boil!

I’m right there with you. I guess a record only matters if you’re a Republican, then they can dig up any dirt from 50 years ago. I’m sick of the entire mess.

They’re going to put their members pensions at risk? There has to be some sort of back door guarantee. No way do they simply throw members pensions at risk like that.

They're betting that if the pension fund goes broke, it will be make whole by the feds. The next bubble to burst will be the federal Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.

Even if the PBGC goes under, I'm sure that senior union officials have their retirement investments safely stashed away.

They don’t need fresh faces in Chicago. They need Jesse, Sr., who says “Up with Hope, Down with Dope.” Maybe they don’t like the “Down with Dope” part any more though.

There certainly are different strokes for different folks — when it comes to overt racial politics.

You mean people like... Allan West? Herman Cain? Mia Love? 'Cause if that's the new standard then I sure hope the new generation shows up quickly and en masse before they are picked off and destroyed by the Corruptocrats.

Catsrus, Think of our country as a child you know who was loved and protected but is now in the care of others who abuse it. You would not hate that child just because it was being abused.
Please read Ephesians 4:26-27, which helps me when I let my emotions lead me to anger. I understand how you feel about Black concervatives being mistreated.
The liberal black “leaders” who care only for themselves are the ones encouraging others to be against such able men as Allen West. One day maybe those who are so easily led will go to the trouble of thinking for themselves.
