Utah Voter Turnout One Of Lowest In Country [Utah in bottom 10 of eligible voters staying home]
MidUtahRadio.com ^ | Nov. 27, 2012 | Duke Dance

The number of Utah citizens going to the polls continues to drop. The “Salt Lake Tribune” reports that while election officials point to 80 percent voter turnout across the state, that number only reflects registered voters, and doesn’t include more than half-a-million Utahns who are eligible to vote but not registered. Overall, the number of people in the state who cast ballots in the presidential election was 57 percent. That’s basically the same number as the 2008 election, when Utah placed 9th lowest in the country in voter turnout.

Didn't she run against a white and delightsome, male, Mormon candidate? That might explain some of it.

Well, per the longstanding Mormon narrative...whites, blacks, Native Americans, etc...were all "pre-existent spirits" on a planet near the star Kolob...

The Mormon jesus offered one plan of salvation for humankind; his just younger bro, the Mormon lucifer, offered another.

Lucifer got upset that the Mormon god declined his offer; and 1/3rd of these spirits supposedly rebelled along with Lucifer...

1/3rd remained faithful...

And the other 1/3rd? They supposedly were "neutral" -- less "valiant" ... and the Mormon 'god' then cursed them with darker skin...which the Book of Mormon promises to eventually become "white and delightsome" upon accepting the Mormon gospel and priesthood...

So Mia Love had her work cut out for her from the jumpstart vs. Mormon voters!!!

If you want to see one of the key theological traces of why Mormons sought to ban blacks from so many aspects of their faith, just do a Google search on the word "valiant" (and add the LDS acronym).

Even a year after the supposed doctrinal "change" (1979...the so-called "change" took place in 1978), we find this interesting paragraph in the back of the Mormon-published Bible (source LDS Bible Dictionary, p. 788 in back of Holy Bible published by Lds church, 1979):

"Although one-third of the spirits became devils, the remaining two-thirds were not all equally valiant, there being every degree of devotion to Christ and the Father among them. The most diligent were chosen to be rulers in the kingdom (Abr. 3:22-23). The nature of the conflict, however, is such that there could be no neutrals, then or now (Matt. 12:30; 1 Ne. 14:10; Alma 5:38-40)."

And that's where you get the 1/3rd, 1/3rd, 1/3rd Mormon division: * 1/3rd became demonic spirits; * Of the remaining 2/3rds, the most faithful spirits became "good Mormons" on earth...some also then went on to become angels after being people who lived on earth; * The other group were so-called "neutrals"...And the Mormon narrative went -- that God cursed these neutral spirits with black skin for their lack of pre-existent "valor"

So, not only was all this above used to unfairly and prejudicially categorize an entire race of people, but it also actually became a base for prideful elitism among Lds general authorities. Why, they concluded, by very virtue of their leadership, they proclaimed how "valiant" their spirits must have been in the premortal life!

Pride fosters and feeds upon more pride!

Pride and Prejudice can sum up the entire foundation of the Mormon religion!

Have you read the new numbers (’they’ are still counting) obama is now 4.5 million plus votes more than Romney so even if these mythical three million so called evangelicals had voted 100% for Romney he still would have lost.

If a total of 2.5M more conservatives had bothered to vote in seven swing states, Romney would have won. Conservatives gave it to Obama instead.

State by State stats for 2010

It will be interesting to see a comparison for 2012 to see how they shifted.

If a total of 2.5M more conservatives had bothered to vote in seven swing states, Romney would have won. Conservatives gave it to Obama instead.

Try looking at it this way:

Over 126 million voters voted for a liberal for POTUS...they either voted for Obama, or the over 1.2 mil for Gary Johnson, or the 1/2 mil for Green party Jill Stein, or Roseanne Barr, or Romney...
ALL five of them are liberals...

Only about 1/5th of 1% voted for the only true conservatives on the ballot...Virgil Goode, Tom Hoefling, and another 100,000 who voted for others not mentioned above.

So over 99.8% of voters voted for a liberal...
...a pro-abort...
...about 98.5% voted for a socialist pioneer healthcare promoter...

I think it's frankly quite amazing that you could get THAT MANY pro-lifers to vote for a pro-abort...

I think it's frankly quite amazing that you could get that MANY "conservative" voters to vote for candidates well to the left of LBJ...

So look at it this way: The RINOs gave a brand new "blank" the pro-life movement; "blank" the tea party look to its party.

Time for the GoP to splinter and go the way of the Whigs...

My GoP involvement expired in 2012 due to Romney, due to conservative Republicans abandonment of the pre-born, due to RINOism foisted upon us by the GoP-e...

And the 29% of the registration pool that call themselves "GoP" will continue to shrink in 2013 & beyond.

Bye, bye, GoP...a big liberal tent is still a big liberal tent.

Apparently, a substantial number of people, who stayed home, weren’t even registered to vote. I always find those people to be really interesting.

I would like to know why they don’t feel they have a “dog in the fight” when it comes to selecting people to represent them in Government. Have these people done something in their lives to avoid the constraints of bloated Government or is it some ideology/religion that stops them from going to the voting booth?

To me, anyone that didn’t vote against Obama, is a problem. Unfortunately, the majority of voters in the USA are a problem. So that means we have a huge problem in this country.

Obama is a symptom...a symptom of the larger population that produced him. He does represent a large number of people...most of them anti-constitution, anti-america, third world escapees, generational welfare recipients and most importantly, far left marxists and communists. Plus, the crowd that didn’t vote.

It could be that they don’t care. I know that you can’t fix stupid. But, not to fret...Obama will capitalize on his re-election and all of the rest will be history.

I apologize to my mom and dad, my grand kids, to everyone that ever fought for this country and to our founding fathers.

A lot of people tried to stop this...there just wasn’t enough of us left.

Based on extrapolating these numbers, you could easily toss in at least another 100,000 Mormons in OTHER states who likewise didn't vote...And Mitt could have drawn another half-a-million votes if he had only secured his "home base" of Mormons!

The mormons in my neighborhood are all liberal. Perhaps that's what's happening in Utah? They didn't want to go against the church so they stayed at home?

Amen brother.

John McCain was the last liberal I voted for, put him beside Romney and McCain would look ultra conservative by comparison.

Ironic - this country won’t be destroyed by some brutal outside conquorer or by sabotage from within, but by the inertia, passivity, and indifference of those basking in the liberty and comfort she provides - shameful......

In the typical Mormon family, do all the wives who are over 18 vote?

Maybe they were absentee voters vacationing on Kolob 11/7 and the mail got sent to ORD instead of SLC due to an error in translating the Reformed Egyptian postal code?

Nah. Or they just knew what a fraud the Bishop is.

Fresh phrasing. Well put.

(I may "steal" it @ some pt & credit you)

Indeed, we all need to apologize to our parents and grandparents over having dropped the baton of faith & zeal in this relay race of life!

We've narrowed our focus; withdrawn into our homes, and let our nation slide toward oblivion.

Lord, have literal mercy on us as a nation!

Incorrect, liberals gave us Romney and conservatives said not again.
Conservatives had no dog in the hunt.
It was liberal/GOPe Republicans that screamed and yelled only Romney can beat obama - well they were wrong and now want to blame the very people who told them he could not win.
Put the blame where it belongs on those who made Romney the nominee.

Wow, your MDS is so off the charts ... first of all, the article you quote contains a fallacy -- not a big surprise given in your derangement you quoted some low-watt radio station's hasty rewrite of a SLC Trib article.

The conjecture that 57% turnout would place Utah 9th as in 2008 fails to take into consideration that 2012 was a contraction election -- rather severely so and unevenly distributed -- and without that info, their inference falls flat on its face. Whereas you sit on yours...

"Overall, the number of people in the state who cast ballots in the presidential election was 57 percent. That’s basically the same number as the 2008 election, when Utah placed 9th lowest in the country in voter turnout."

But don't take my word for it, moonbat, cause here's the details. Looks to me like Mitt outdid McCrisis handily, with Utah's total vote up about 6% in an otherwise national contraction election. If anything, Mitt adding on 20% to McCrisis shows Mormon motivation prima facie.

Presidential General Election Results Comparison - Utah

"If only 55% of them were Lds (Utah is 60% Lds), that's over 400,000 Mormons NOT voting when a Mormon ran for POTUS!"

So Utah should vote in full percentages unseen anywhere in the US since sufferage. Riiiight. And if it did, of course, you'd be fishwife bitching about how Mormons had outstripped their base of power and were now 'overrepresented' in the electorage. LOL.

...first of all, the article you quote contains a fallacy -- not a big surprise given...you quoted some low-watt radio station's hasty rewrite of a SLC Trib article.

ALL: StAnDeliver is so "out of it" as a poster apparently she is clueless that the Trib doesn't allow its stuff to even be excerpted as thread posts on FR...Hence if a poster wants to start a thread based upon what the Trib is reporting, it's easiest to do that 2nd-hand.

The conjecture that 57% turnout would place Utah 9th as in 2008 fails to take into consideration that 2012 was a contraction election -- rather severely so and unevenly distributed -- and without that info, their inference falls flat on its face...

If there are faulty voter facts coming out of Utah, hey, consider the source...it's Utah...where Utah leads the nation in coming out with faulty facts!

ALL: StAnDeliver's insinuation is that a "low wattage radio station's hasty rewrite" is somehow the source of the 57% and 80% figures cited by MidUtahRadio.com...

If she knew how to operate her keyboard, she could go direct to the source itself -- the Trib article that reported this...and see that these figures didn't originate with MidUtahRadio, nor did that radio state misreport what the Trib said: Voter turnout: Utah should be more voter-friendly

“Conservatives gave it to Obama instead.”

The GOP has made it very clear, they don’t want conservative votes. They don’t want to hear about the issues we care about, they don’t want us to voice our opinions, they don’t want to give our leaders a seat at the table, and they don’t want our votes to count in their primaries. So, certainly, they must not want our votes in the general election.
