"I make a conscious decision over how long I want to be ‘enraged”...and then most of the time,”let it go.” In hindsight I have gotten so bent out of shape over stuff when I look back at it, was just a waste of energy and time."

I think if most people would do an honest self-assesment and "inventory" their anger they would find that about 1-2% of their anger was righteous and justified, and that their anger drove them to take positive actions to right a wrong, overcome an injustice, etc. The other 98-99%, they would find, either spurred them to do something really stupid, or they bottled it up and allowed their own hearts, minds and souls to stew in the poison of their bitterness.

You see a lot of that on the left, btw.

Ben Stein was on Oreilly supporting leaving Nativity Scenes, etc alone. He is Jewish and said he loves Christmas..
“Why would anyone get upset about the Prince of Peace?’ He added “There are a lot of angry people, just angry all the time.”

Your post is dead on target. Gay Conservative responded with his “I used to work for a neuropathologist...you don’t even know any neuropathologists” rant, but then quickly decided that he is a medical expert and is taking the path taken by so many “political doctors” who will chase anything as long as it gives them lots of money for grants and studies. The problem is that, like Komen, they do some good but you just don’t know where the good ends and simple opportunistic greed begins once science gets into bed with politics and lawyers.

“Grants and studies...” Yep. That’s where it’s at. Liberal “science” — stem cells, alar, global warming, fracking is death, etc, etc,.

There is no doubt that this game is causing violent damages, especially to the brain. There is a lot of research now on concussions, etc and the pressure is on for the NFL to “do something to protect their players.” The players now are generally also much larger and heavier than say,40 years ago even.(remember “The Refrigerator” of the Browns?)

The NFL is big business...WAY big business. And Americans Love football( I love football.ha)
The NFL will do all kinds of “PR” moves to SAY they are doing something, but nothing will effectively change.

"He added “There are a lot of angry people, just angry all the time.”

Anger, like love, is a powerful emotion. If we deny it completely, we deny ourselves a bit of our humanity; however, if we feed it constantly, it will devour us. Those who have allowed themselves to be entirely consumed by anger come to define themselves by it and their existence is contingent upon it. In so doing, they actually end up surrendering many other aspects of their humanity.

A lot of the anger is often really untreated depression...but people often don’t get help for their anger...nor do they go to any anger management classes to learn how to control their angry behaviors. Well, too bad, I just don’t put up with abusive angry people anymore..no excuses. they can go get some kind of help and deal with it.

Unless the person is psychotic( totally out of touch with reality) or has a brain tumor, they CAN control the behavior when they want to...don’t see too many “angry” people yelling at the judge in courtroom. ha.

Nothing conclusive was ever proven about Whitman’s tumor having an effect on his behavior. Months before his rampage, he told a psychiatrist he was thinking about going up in the Tower and shooting a bunch of people - but the shrink didn’t take it seriously enough, notify law enforcement or anything.

Of course, that was a different time...

People are depressed and angry over what has happened to this country under the current regime.

Whitman left a note asking that an autopsy be performed to see if something was wrong. I guess he knew he would not live through the whole thing.

I took a criminology course and our textbook had a whole chapter devoted to the Texas Tower shootings. It said they found a tumor but that it could not have caused his behavior.

I don’t know a thing about medicine or psychology but I do believe the tumor was what caused his actions.

From the for-what-it’s-worth-department:

So that in effect, Fechner, Freud and you seem to be agreeing with me? :-)

I had never heard of Fechner. However, many of Freud’s theories have been diasvowed and/or disproven by the shrink community so that it is difficult what to believe and what not be believe which Freud said.

Many people have described to me being aware of both the ‘life-wish’ and the ‘death-wish’ as I have described it. They said that they are aware that both of those ‘wishes’ are ‘alive-and-well’, ( no pun intended ), in themselves.

She was throwing food away, how she wouldn’t need food anymore as she only made it for him.

Oh my that is heartbreaking. I hope she (and you and your family) are doing alright now.

OH yeah, more than a decade later, grandkids and time helps. She was 18 when they married, right out of school, and they were married 40 years when he passed.

The story literally made my hair stand on end. It involved a demonic being which they all saw but did not harm them. Even their dog reacted and barked at it.

You have to recount the story!

I am so glad to hear this.

I have been married 27 years and absolutely can't imagine life without my wife.

Well since he told it to the entire class I don’t think he was expecting or even wanting privacy so I will try to retell it.

Partly you had to be there and hear it first hand and there is a little I will leave out because it could identify individuals but I will give it a try.

It will take me a few minutes to remember, then I will try to re-tell it. Also it has been long enough that I can’t remember everything.
