Gov’t Gives PA Restaurant a Choice: Give 10% Sunday Church Bulletin Discount to Atheists Too or

Do you recall the furor surrounding Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen, a Pennsylvania-based restaurant, this past summer? The establishment has been offering a 10 percent discount for individuals who bring in a church bulletin on Sundays. Citing this action as discriminatory, John Wolff, a local atheist, filed a complaint with the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission (PHRC). Now, the restaurant will be forced to offer discounts to any individual who brings in a pamphlet involving religious faith — including atheism.

To continue offering its discount, Prudhomme’s Lost Cajun Kitchen must now honor literature that comes from any religious institution, The Christian Post reports. This includes secular bulletins from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, an atheist activist non-profit, and faith-based documents pertaining to Judaism, Islam and other religions on Sundays.

A one-line statement from the state human relations commission summarized these ideals: ”Respondent will continue to give a discount for any bulletin from any group oriented around the subject of religious faith, including publications from the Freedom From Religion Foundation, as long as they maintain the Sunday discount program.”

Are you kidding!? Churches, even the sight of the cross, causes internal bleeding in atheists as well as crippling migraines and pulmonary edema. They really are a cursed people.

What’s wrong with you all? Don’t you see this was the best outcome? Atheist can get “equal” by getting a current bulletin and presenting it on Sunday - just like everyone else. That’s as “equal” as it gets. Just think. How many Atheists go to some kind of atheist secular church? None. But the Judge gave them the same “equal” opportunity.

How about Hebrews, Moslems, Hindu, et al.? Show up to the resturant on Sunday and get your “equal” opportunity 10% discount. I think that Justice was more than fair. The resturant owners did this to get more customers on slow days. If it gets them more customers, they win! What a great outcome.

The restaurant can also participate in fund raisers of its choice in which coupons are provided as part of the fund raiser.

When liberals discriminate, it’s called “freedom of choice”. When conservatives do it, it’s “discrimination”.

That would be a great tag line.

Yes, along with early bird specials since many are forced to work during those hours.

If an atheist wants to bring in a current church bulletin by all means give them the discount. They might get some positive exposure acquiring it. Or, atheists can estabish their own church. Oh, wait a minute, they’ve already done that, they can just show a university ID card.

“Early Bird” specials discriminate against the welfare class who sleep until noon!

This is disgusting!

What about coupons? Why should only the shoppers that remember to bring coupons get the discount?

If a person allergic to seafood can only get oysters at an oyster bar, will they be able to force the oyster bar to serve other food?

Where has our freedom gone?
How do we get it back?

When did private individuals lose the right to discriminate?

When Brown vs. Topeka was written.

The Minor League Baseball team, the Bowie Baysox, had a similar offer for people attending their games could get a family discount if they brought in their Sunday Church bulletin for the day.

A Jewish group started to protest until they discovered that the Baysox would gladly accept any dated publication from a synagogue the same way. Their representative said they were quite pleased with the accommodation.

Then some atheist group announced they were going to present a pamphlet announcing one of their meetings at the ball park and would sue if turned away. The gate keepers at the Baysox game gladly accepted it and game them their discount.

The atheist group was FURIOUS! A local TV news reporter interviewed their spokesman who could only repeat that this was religious discrimination. The reporter really ticked him off by pushing for him to explain how that could be if they were given the same discount. Their representative’s response had to be bleeped before he stalked off.

The atheists don’t want the same treatment; they want to dictate what kind of treatment is allowed!

I hope the Restaurant goes the same route as the Baysox.
