Weve lost the battle in Washington for now, says Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C. The new goals, he says, are for conservatives to prove their principles work in states and to defend against President Obamas effort to steamroll whats left of the Republican Party here in Washington.
As a guest on Istook Live!, DeMint agreed that Obama aims to crush his opposition now so they cannot resist his agenda over the next four years. Said the senator, They smell blood in the water and theyll keep pushing theyre not coming our way or coming to the middle to try and govern.
However, he acknowledges that a very few Republicans will go along with the presidents tax demandsbut only those officials who probably arent real Republicans in the first place.

I’ll see that and raise you two strikes.
“If thats true, then explain why republicans and conservatives control 30 states, which is up from 25 in 2010.
Explain why nearly 1,000 rats have been thrown out of state legislature seats and state-wide political offices since 2010.”
OK, I will.
What we’re seeing is the -transformation- of the Republican party, from a national party into a regional one. Indeed, you might say the same about the ‘rats in their own respective states.
The country is “dividing” — with the states taking sides almost as clearly and irreconcilably as they did in the late 1850’s.
As the Republicans gain power in the red states, they’re fading away into obscurity in the blue states — places like California, New York, Illinois, Maryland/Delaware, and the entirety of New England. While there remain a few “red districts” in the above-mentioned states, it’s become all-but impossible for a Republican to win a “statewide” or Senatorial election in them.
However, this “red vs. blue” trend isn’t favorable to Republicans or conservatives. Some states that were once reliably-red, or even purple, are starting to “tip” towards the blue side. We’ve lost Colorado, Iowa, Virginia, Ohio and Florida in both of the last two presidential elections. This isn’t looking good for future presidential contests. Certain demographics are turning against us. It may be impossible to ever turn some of them back (for example, the “ladyparts voters”, who voted for Obama @ 68%).
What happens in the midterms in 2014 is really going to tell the story. Expect the Obammunists to do everything they can in their quest to seize more and more control in Washington. They are not going to be willing to compromise or listen to Republican suggestions — after all, “I won”.
If the Republicans cannot unite (and by “unite” I mean a concerted and perhaps unprecedented level of cooperation between House and Senate Republicans, perhaps to the extent of creating a “shadow Congress”) and effectively oppose the ‘rats, this will become clear by the fall of ‘14.
And if they cannot advance in November 2014 — and by that, I mean gain seats in the Senate and hold the House — they may very well be on the road to their demise.
The election we just had turned conventional wisdom on its head. Remember folks (and the [so-called] conservative commentators) telling us that no president could be re-elected with economic numbers as bad as Obama’s? Well, what happened?
The rules have changed as to how elections are going to be won and lost in America. The Republicans are going to have a difficult time just holdin’ the line in 2014. If they get blown out, by failing to “resist” effectively between now and the next election, the slide downhill for them may be more rapid than anyone expected.
After which, they will no longer be a “nationally effective” party, but a regional one.
Silly me! I thought that Republicans, by nature, were the Conservatives. Live and learn.
Bonehead represents the Lobbyist elite class of DC and there clients .
His entire former staff are lobbyists and they feed him
Power and control and he keeps the tax dollars flowing !”
Correct on all fronts. I repeat for all: Trent Lott IS a total GOPe and a big time Lobbyist on K Street. HE has publicly stated that “we don’t need any more Jim DeMints around DC or we have to co-opt them too”. I rest my case. Boo Hoo Boehner is disgusting.
I’m with you, too. NOW, is the Republican Party with US? Shall see...
