Heads reportedly roll at ATF over Fast & Furious

Heads may roll at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as four key officials involved in Operation Fast and Furious may be fired, two more demoted and one suspended and transferred, sources have confirmed to this column.

Word first leaked over the weekend about three of the reported firings at Town Hall and Breitbart, which curiously carried much the same text under two different bylines.

UPDATE: Fox News, quoting the Wall Street Journal, is reporting however that these dismissals are only recommendations from an agency review board. This column regrets any error.

Former Phoenix Special Agent in Charge William Newell, Assistant Special Agent in Charge George Gillett, and Special Agent in Charge of Operations in the West William McMahon all have been recommended for dismissal, and so apparently was Mark Chait, former assistant director for Field Operations, reliable sources told this column. Those recommended dismissals may be appealed. Demotions were reportedly handed out to former field supervisor David Voth and former Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jim Needles. Special Agent Hope McAllister was placed on unpaid leave and transferred. As this column noted, they were criticized for their roles in the operation by the Inspector General's report.

The WSJ story quoted David Laufman, attorney for Mr. Chait, insisting that "any adverse finding or recommendation by the (professional review board) would be utterly without merit." Attorneys for Newell and Gillett reportedly declined to comment to the newspaper, saying they had not yet received an official notification of the recommendation...

Could be that they have been rewarded for their silence. Still, folks who tell no tales vote Democrat (posthumously).

I am surprized that the issue of knowingly arming the cartels with automatic weapons hasn’t been referred to ‘The Hague’ . This is international terrorism with admissions , but no accountability .

We all know the old saying, “The buck stops here”. Unfortunately those doing the firing are the very ones that need to be fired themselves. Holder and Dumbo are at the top of the pile and BOTH need to be gone.

Well I guess all of the “higher ups” in the agency all got their stories straight and now the lower “slugs” in the agency have to fall on their swords involuntary.

You just gotta love the chain of command. The buck always stops at the level that didn’t get its story right with the higher levels.

Intentionally arming foreign terrorist groups should be punishable by at least serious prison time. There has been no justice yet.

It's called "State Sponsored Terrorism" and is an Act of War; furthermore, it is the justification used by the Secretary of State for deposing foreign leaders.

So the ones that gave the orders, fired the ones that followed them? If there is Justice in the Justice Department, they will take all those over the ones fired, and put them in prison for trial. 2000 counts of accessory to Murder is no laughing matter.

Eric WithHolder and Barack Ubama still haven't paid the piper for their crimes in the coverup and gun running operation. Mexico ain't happy at it is America to blame. The stink from this crap rises to the very TOP of the Democrat party. Enough with the scapgoating those at lower authority. The White House claimed EXECUTIVE PRIVILEDGE in withholding information. Eric Holder gave false testimony under oath.
