Can a Republican Take Jesse Jackson Jr.'s Old Seat?
Lenny McAlister thinks his chances are good, but will 2nd District voters look beyond the "R" on the ballot?
By Christopher Paicely

One Republican has entered the race to replace Jesse Jackson Jr. as the United States representative for the 2nd District.

Lenny McAllister has no legislative experience and has never won an election, but he's hoping to win a seat held by Democrats for more than 50 years. And let's not forget a Republican was unable to come close to beating a nigh-nonexistent congressman back in November.

I don’t know, but I saw a nice loaf of fresh bread today and grabbed it. I threw it back when I read ‘Chicago style’ Italian bread.

Boycott Chicago.

Lenny McAllister is a self-described "relatively progressive" and "Hip-Hop Republican" who writes from an "Afro-centric perspective" and is pro-abortion, pro-affirmative action, pro-Peotone airport (a favorite priority of the disgraced JJJ and hated by rural conservatives who actually live in Peotone), against anti-tax pledges with the fiscal cliff looming, and spoke against voter ID laws this year during an NAACP press conference. He's also been nicknamed "The Progressive's Second Favorite Black Republican", after Colin Powell. He's also not even from the Chicago area, he's a North Carolina resident who ran a couple of failed campaigns there before setting up residence here a few months ago.

In short, he seems to be this year's version of Richard Tisei.

I doubt ANY Republican could win IL-2, let alone a liberal Republican. Ironically, I think a conservative black with an "D" next to their name MIGHT be able to take IL-2, IF they could sneak through a divided RAT primary.

McAllister as the "Republican alternative" makes me sick and I wish John Arrington, Eric Wallace (I think he's in IL-2 after redistricting, but he was in IL-1 in 2010), or Isaac Hayes would throw their hat into the ring.

On the other hand, any decent black conservative Republican would have to spend tons of their own money on an extremely uphill battle, and will get zero support from the state or national GOP (so it's not surprising none of them want to run), and it would be fun to see another "electable" RINO get crushed. Just glad I don't have to live in that district and choose between liberal D vs. liberal R.

Thoughts?

How any Black person can support abortion is beyond me... especially given that abortion has decimated the Black community to the point that their population now trails Hispanics. Genocide is not too strong a word, and all hatched by a White Socialist Utopian.

Isaac Hayes told me that he’s considering running for Congress. I read that some people are cirulating petitions for Eric Wallace, but I don’t know whether he approves.

That’s about as smart as the moron who used to claim he was boycotting Taco Bell because tacos were Mexican. Newsflash, he wasn’t boycotting Mexico and you weren’t boycotting Chicago.

He’s worse than Tisei. He writes at The Root of fighting to overcome the GOP’s decades of racism.

Which one is that, the former football player? He seems the most normal of the Democrats running?
