What Does Let It Burn Mean?

“Let It Burn” is about inaction. There’s no point in trying do anything that avoids going over the fiscal cliff/sequestration. Remember, the deal that got us to this point was agreed to by House Republicans, Senate Democrats and signed by Obama. That’s as bi-partisan as it gets. I’ve heard from squishy low information voters, Obama and the media that “bi-partisan problem solving” is the Holy Grail of politics. Well, here it is.

Will it lead to massive disruptions? Yes. That’s the point. The current system is rigged against conservative. We should play no part in its perpetuation. If you can’t win the game, concede and start new one. That’s the heart of Let It Burn.

This isn't some petty "I lost so I'm taking my ball and going home" tirade. This is what people want. It's simply not sustainable. If we can't stop them, we don't have to continue to enable them either.

“Let it burn” “Bring the Pain”

The bottom line is that the sooner the economy goes ahead and collapses, the least damage that will be done. Unfortunately, we will still be stuck with Obozo, so he will be useless and destructive in attempts to put things back together.

I sure wish the Republicans could defund the EBT cards as part of the falling off the cliff. It might help the Obama cult followers to realize he isn’t a god.

Agreed. The marxists are in control; no amount of conciliation will prevent the collapse, and will ultimately be used against Conservatives.

I’m pretty much in the “let it burn” camp.

Heck, I even take it further. If this country has now decided to take the path of marxism, along with the continual slide to moral degeneracy via things like fag marriage and wallowing in dope, there’s hardly any reason to see it survive. Might as well burn to the ground.

The situation lends itself well to metaphors. Here mine, conservatives have been holding back the cart from going down hill at great effort and personal sacrifice while the dems keep loading it with more weight and pushing as fast as they can. 50 years of our efforts have only forestalled the inevitable. The last election demonstrated that more and more people are jumping on the cart. We are tired and demoralized and have forgotten what the point of saving these idiots was in the first place. Time to let go before we go down with it.

It's simply not sustainable.

And by design, it's not supposed to be sustainable.

I firmly believe that we're in the midst of a communist revolution in the US, and I believe that the Cloward-Piven strategy is the biggest weapon in their arsenal.

Once things totally go to hell, the political enemies (conservatives, middle class, Christians, etc.) of the regime will become the scapegoat upon which everything is blamed.

Hey, the 60s radicals infested the media and academia a long time ago, and have been working their butts off to achieve their goals. Now, it's coming to fruition.

As to "let it burn" or not, it really doesn't matter. It's going to burn no matter what. We're along for the ride.

"I sure wish the Republicans could defund the EBT cards as part of the falling off the cliff. It might help the Obama cult followers to realize he isn’t a god."

Hyperinflation -- or even just plain high inflation would have the same effect. The gov't can't even handle annual car registration renewals reliably. They're not going to be able to adjust welfare payments on a monthly, weekly or daily basis.

I believe if they do just "Let it Burn", the Federal Government will be stuck with the existing debt cieling, which once it's been hit will prevent all spending by the Federal Government beyond the revenue being brought in from payroll and income taxes and government fees. They would have to prioritize what money gets spent on and I'm betting that federal employees, Social Security, Medicare and military personnel would have priority. It'd be interesting to watch and those of us who pay income taxes could have a lot of fun increasing our withholding exemptions.

that was the point of the famous book.

Stop abetting the “parasites”, “looters”, and “moochers” and let the corruption crash in ruin as it must eventually anyway. Attempting to fight it now when it is already to late will prolong the misery and more deeply entrench the evil.

I agree. The only way to kill the beast is to let it starve. We can live without big governments money just fine, but big government can't survive without ours.

The Republicans had a lot of chances to cut useless social programs, but they didn't. They just let them grow. Because of that, I see both parties playing good cop/bad cop. The politicians don't do what they do for us. They use their time to empower and enrich themselves. Then they retire as multimillionaires, and we taxpayers are left paying the bill.

I have lead, gold and silver as well as six acres of decent farmland. I’ll find a way. Let it burn.

Republicans have forever been giving in to the socialist democrats insatiable appetite for more and more power via the tax and spend route. We have spent years saving money for the democrats to spend. Time to call the game what it is, BLACKMAIL. We will not win whatever course of action we take.
Therefore, do what is best for America and take the hard road of closing the taxpayer funded ATM. Congress should just adjourn and go home. Obama is already one foot out the door to his new digs in Hawaii, also tax funded of course. Obama and the socialists have feathered their tax funded nests and will continue to enjoy their lavish life styles until the reality of national disaster invades their own lives.

***Unfortunately, we will still be stuck with Obozo,***

My biggest fear(or blessing) would be seeing US Tanks and troops storming the White House. I was worried this would happen during the Clinton admin.

Curiously, many economists who claim to admire the “free market” are always devising ways for governments to obtain more tax revenue. Their interest may lie in keeping tax rates low but for some reason these confused defenders of capitalism wish politicians had more money to throw at favored interests. The reality is that governments don’t invest income, they merely consume wealth and resources in order to maintain dominance. They are violence masquerading as creatures of social good. For those who see scarcity as an undeniable truth and necessitating the effective use of resources to ensure a better standard of living, limiting the amount of income in Leviathan’s clutches is a must. Therefore, championing tax cuts as a means to boost tax revenues (the so-called Laffer Curve) is not a policiy any serious market-focused commentator should endorse.

I unfortunately spent most of the last 35 years in the banking business, where I learned that the first loss is always the best loss.

The losing has already begun, why let it continue?
