London: Britain's Ministry of Defence says a Sikh soldier has become the first guardsman to parade outside Buckingham Palace while wearing his traditional turban. Fifty family members were on hand on Tuesday as Guardsman Jatinderpal Singh Bhullar as he took part in the changing of the guard at the London home of Queen Elizabeth II.

It’s the same principle.
If you think it’s okay for a turban at Buckingham Palace then it’s okay for a Turban at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

You are completely missing the point.
If the rationale here is that Shikh’s are good guys so let them wear turbans in the UK - then you have to be okay with letting them wear their Turbans in the US while on duty. As well as other non-uniform religious items. Like Burkas. Islamic Head Wraps, etc.

So your fellow Navy member can wear a Turban as long as he is a Sikh - so then can your fellow Islamic Navy Member wear the Hajib while on duty?

Looks Canadian to me, most of the same medals I have.
That said, Sikhs are a far cry from the bad guys and have proved themselves over and over to be valiant and determined soldiers, I don’t have any problem with his donning his turban in uniform.
In order to have a rationale, you have to be rational.
That leaves you out.
I have met many Sihks - all have been nice people.
That uniform looks way cool

And when in Marine Dress Blues he is allowed to wear a taqiyah and not the white barracks cover?

There is a uniform code. There is regulated headgear.
Do you want your fellow Navy Member wearing a Hajib when you are standing at attention.
First, whatever the Brits decide as the ceremonial uniform for what is essentially a ceremonial mission is fine with me. It’s their country.
Second, The British have a very long tradition of different uniforms for different military units, particularly in their army (not so much for the RN or RAF). It goes back to their Imperial days. This is a recognition of that tradition. We don’t have that tradition here; you have the combat uniform, the duty uniform and the dress uniform. My recollection of the uniform for the Guards at the Tomb of the Unknowns is that it is the standard US Army dress uniform. I could be wrong, but it appears that way to me.
Third, I think this guy’s relatives and ancestors purchased his ability to wear the turban while on guard with their blood they shed for the Crown. And as long as he’s willing to do the same, I don’t have a problem.
