Human link to climate change stronger than ever: (IPCC) draft report
Yahoo! News ^ | 12/14/12 | Nina Chestney and Alister Doyle | Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) - International climate scientists are more certain than ever that humans are responsible for global warming, rising sea levels and extreme weather events, according to a leaked draft report by an influential panel of experts.

The early draft, which is still subject to change before a final version is released in late 2013, showed that a rise in global average temperatures since pre-industrial times was set to exceed 2 degrees Celsius by 2100, and may reach 4.8 Celsius.

"It is extremely likely that human activities have caused more than half of the observed increase in global average surface temperatures since the 1950s," the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) draft report said.

"Extremely likely" in the IPCC's language means a level of certainty of at least 95 percent. The next level is "virtually certain", or 99 percent, the greatest possible certainty for the scientists.

The IPCC's previous report, in 2007, said it was at least 90 percent certain that human activities, led by burning fossil fuels, were the cause of rising temperatures.

The draft was shown on a climate change skeptic blog.

The IPCC said the unauthorized, premature posting of the draft may lead to confusion because the report was still work in progress and was likely to change before it is released.

A United Nations conference last week aimed at curbing emissions of greenhouse gases blamed for global warning yielded no progress and three countries - Canada, Russia and Japan - have abandoned the Kyoto Protocol limiting the emissions.

The United States never ratified it in the first place, and it excludes developing countries where emissions are growing most quickly.

Countries agreed to extend Kyoto to 2020, but only those covering less than 15 percent of world greenhouse gas emissions signed up. ...

How do you establish a link to “climate change”? What the heck is climate change?

Ummm - except the report says that the Sun was the cause - No?

Is yahoo trying to get ahead of the facts with spin?

The climate is ALWAYS changing.

The sun is the major driver that cancels out all other miniscule factors in that change.

No, the sky is not falling.

Just take a look at the Cretaceous period.

Maybe because the other 85% aren’t as dumb as a box or rocks?

Just take a look at the Cretaceous period.

The political zealots promoting this junk science totally ignore the geological record -- if they even know anything about it. Anyone with even an elementary grounding in geological processes and the Earth's violent history quickly realizes AGW is a religion, not a rigorous fact-based discipline.

"The IPCC said the unauthorized, premature posting of the draft may lead to confusion"

No Poopies Sherlock!

We now have at least two absolutely opposite descriptions of the same leaked draft report.

On the other hand, "only those covering less than 15 percent of world greenhouse gas emissions signed up...(to extending Kyoto)". Does give me hope for a rational future.

Climate changes. Nothing is static. The temperature is getting warmer or it is getting colder. If it is getting colder, we’re in a lot of trouble.

They will never give this silly nonsense up, there is too much money at stake.

Yahoo is quoting from the "Summary for Policymakers," a dumbed down and distorted "summary" of the real scientific findings. This is the only thing the media ever pays attention to, because it is written in plain easily quoted language, and is the only part of the report the scientifically illiterate media understand.

It contradicts the findings in the scientific chapters, because it is intended for consumption by the powers that control the money(80 Billion $US so far).

"climate scientists" are ever going to be less certain?

They already told us they were more certain than ever.

They need to change their BS.

There are three seperate issues here. First there’s the data, collected by thousands of scientists. Then there’s the report itself, written by a few dozen scientists and bureaucrats. Then there’s the summary, written by a handful of UN bureacrats to fit their redistributionist agenda. The media will never look at anything but the latter.

It might be that a lot of folks dislike Darwin's theory, but Darwin has been proven right thanks to modern findings. One for instance, based on Moon rocks, is that our Earth is estimated to be 4.6 billion years old ... and it's been evolving all the way. Another for instance, based on 400 million year old growth rings in corals, is that the number of Earth days per year used to be 400 ... Earth's spin has been slowed because the Moon is sapping Earth's rotational energy.

These findings are from "Darwin's Ghost" by Steve Jones. The book is an update on Darwin's "Origin," chapter by chapter.

It's an incredible read.

Agreed. During the cretaceous period there were no glaciers, the earth’s land mass was covered with greenery
and the proportion of CO2 in the atmosphere was 4 times what it is now.And there were no humans or industry to pollute the earth into the warm cretaceous period. So the Global Warming Religions sgudders and twists when anyone mentions this fact, saying that there was an unknown process in place which created the “excess” CO@. The fact
is that there is never excess CO2 in the atmosphere, and that the warmth of the sun over long periods controls the growth of biomass and its decomposition. Its so simple.

And life did not end. It blossomed as it never has since.

http://dinosaurs.about.com/od/dinosaurbasics/a/dinosaurages_4.htm

The Cretaceous era spanned the time period from 144 to 65 million years ago.Man had not then evolved. We must adapt to the climate as we always have done as human beings. Thats the way it is.

**********************************************

“Scientific studies have shown that atmospheric Carbon Dioxide in past eras reached concentrations that were 20 times higher than the current concentration. Recent investigations have shown that the current change of climate is part of a larger cycle known as climatic lowstand phase which precedes a sequential warming period known as transgression phase. The purpose of this evaluation is to demonstrate that the Earth is actually cooling, in the context of the total geological timescale, and that the current change is equivalent to a serial climate phase known as lowstand.

INTRODUCTION

“In the last 20 years, public interest in climate phenomena has grown, especially since the UN-IPCC began its campaign warning of catastrophic climate changes ahead. At Biology Cabinet, we maintain that the changes that we have observed since 1985 have been natural and that human beings cannot delay or stop the advance of these changes, but can only adapt to them. In addition, we have shown that the changes that we observe at present are the result of natural cycles which have occurred many times before.”

Journalistic fraud and malpractice, to say the least. The draft is yet another smoking gun evidencing the failure of the climate models to reflect reality or report reality. As in previous IPCC reports, the draft can be expected to be altered to disappear the evidence and conclusions which detract from the false Alarmist political narrative used to indoctrinate policymakers and the general public.

Not ever stated is an objective reason to believe that human influence is the “likely cause” of a change inthe climate, or, specifically, atmospheric temperature change.

Research money is drying up and the lavish lifestyle of the anointed climate intelligentsia is being threaten to become extinct like the Dodo bird. I do not wish to disparage the Dodo bird as they did not fear their killers nor understand their end. The scientists see the end of their reign and are willing to “cling to their studies and core samples.”

"Extremely likely" in the IPCC's language means a level of certainty of at least 95 percent.
The next level is "virtually certain", or 99 percent, the greatest possible certainty for the scientists.

Au contraire. There's "super-duper certain" (99.9), "so certain I can't image any other possibility" (99.9999) and PC1 (100 even)
