Adam Lanza, the 20-year-old who killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut this morning, was "obviously not well," a relative told ABC News.
Family friends in Newtown also described the young man as troubled and described his mother Nancy as very rigid. "[Adam] was not connected with the other kids," said one friend.
Late today, police said Nancy Lanza's body was found in the family home. According to sources, Lanza shot his mother in the face, then left the house armed with at least two semi-automatic handguns and a semi-automatic rifle.
State and federal authorities believe his mother may have once worked at the elementary school where Adam went on his deadly rampage, although she was not a teacher, according to relatives, perhaps a volunteer.

How inappropriate of you to bring politics into this tragedy. It is totally irrelevant that Obama favors the mass slaughter of millions of innocent children in the womb with eyes, mouths, lungs, toes, fingers and feelings.

And I read she was a teacher’s aide. It seems the school’s website has been taken down so not sure if she was a teacher or not. So much we don’t know yet.
Maybe what I am about to say is just nuts but sometimes I wonder if some of these pyschos are really Manchurian candidates of some kind. There is something about these attrocities that are so over-the-top and theatrical in nature in a very evil way. Aurora, Oregon, Newtown, Columbine, the murder of the Amish girls!

One of the early reports said that his mother had called in sick (or maybe he had called in for her, since by then he had probably already killed her). I guess that’s why they buzzed him into the building, because they knew him as her son and probably thought he was coming to tell them something about her or pick up something.

I will assume that a vast majority of Freepers understand what this means but for those that do not it means nothing more then if you want to fire a round of ammunition you need to pull the trigger for each round you want to fire.
I wonder about the killers mental health history. I wonder when his last hospitalization was, how many psychiatric hospitalizations did he have, and how difficult he was to manage.
He had a personality disorder, I imagine he was difficult to manage, along with a form of autism that can combine with selected PD in a lethal fashion.
In our enlightened mental health system, young people who previously were able to be hosptialized and medicated by parental consent, when they turn 18 are free to decline medication. Hosptialization requires immediate danger to self or others and at times only the patient knows the answer to that question. Multiple adult hosptializations may over time permit a guardian to be appoionted and in some states permit the forcing of medication on a non-forensic patient.
Medications would be forced after due cause is shown and mulitple hospitalizaitons, because short stay is the only option unless there is a serious crime committed. The leftists in the culture have decided not to protect the mentally ill from the preditors in the populace and not to protect the populace from the preditory and severely mentally ill.
One more reason it is a terrifying culture out there.

I live in Indiana and they, like many other states have released to the streets or “halfway houses” people who were residents in their state hospitals....people who did not want to leave....people who the staff knew should have not been released.....people who are now homeless or worse. Pathetic....
