Gunman had "altercation" with school staff day before masssacre

The gunman in the Newtown massacre had an "altercation" with four staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School the day before he killed 20 children, six adults and himself there, Connecticut and federal officials told NBC News Saturday.

Three of the four staff members were killed Friday in one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history. The fourth staff member was not at school that day and is being interviewed by federal and state investigators, NBC News’ Pete Williams said.

Two days before that, Adam Lanza, 20, went to a sporting goods store in Danbury, Conn., and tried to purchase a rifle, but was rebuffed because the state has a waiting period for gun sales, the officials said.

Makes you kinda wonder, doesn’t it? They coordinate special privileges for the favored media while the Phony in Chief wipes away a tender tear with his middle finger...in barely 24 hours. How well-tuned is their War Room. And since it’s in Conn, the locals want to play along with Obama.

Me too, frankly. This is the one they've been waiting for.

And now more than ever is the time for rational thought:

-- He drove himself to the school in a motor vehicle, just like the killers in Tucson and Aurora. If only we had outlawed private citizens from possessing a motor vehicle, then there is a good chance these mass murders would not have happened.

-- Suppose this nut job used a bulldozer or Mack Truck to kill these kids. Would we be debating access to heavy equipment and machinery?

-- Suppose this nut fire-bombed the classrooms using incendiary devices made from common household products and ignited with a $.99 Bic lighter. Would we even consider banning the private possession of gasoline, glass bottles, flamable fabric, and matches/lighters.

” EVERYONE should keep their firearms locked up and HIDE THE KEY (and ONLY the person the guns are registered to knows where the key(s) are just in case they’re stolen if not for any other reason!!”

What good is a locked up unloaded gun if needed in a hurry?

Just as well have a golf club for self defense.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, lock up the criminally insane. Saying that medication and counseling make them "fit into society" just masks their issues. They can "pass" for normal. If they would be found in court as "not accountable for their own actions", then they need to be under house arrest monitored by their caregiver.

But no, the Libs' solution to disarm everyone else (and not the criminals who ignore the laws).

The problem with locks is they only stop the honest.

He lived there. He knew where they were. Over time one can often discern where the key is, what the combination is, or how to cut thru the safe (as some Sawz-All owners learned the hard way). If nothing else, and considering he was hell-bent on killing, torturing her into opening a hardened safe works too.

The Administration would’ve sold to him if he said he was walking the guns to Mexico.

Instead of being protected by armed men for the rest of his life, why doesn’t Obama advocate gun control that would make having such protection uneccesary? These politicians advocate leaving our children unprotected while they galavant from place to place armed to the T. Meanwhile they say we can’t deport all illegal aliens, but we can round up all the guns. I’m so tired of their constant illogic. It seems logic and politics are completely mutually exclusive.

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/adam-lanzas-mom-pulled-school-relative/story?id=17985433

The aunt of Connecticut shooter Adam Lanza said the shooter’s mother pulled him out of Newtown’s public school system because she was unhappy with the school district’s plans for her son.

Adam Lanza’s mother Nancy, 52, was the first victim of his Friday shooting spree. Lanza shot Nancy in the face and then drove her car to Sandy Hook Elementary School, where he killed 20 students and six adults before taking his own life.

Marsha Lanza, who is Adam’s aunt and Nancy’s ex-sister-in-law, told Evelyn Thomas of ABC-owned-and-operated station WLS in Chicago that Nancy had once been a classroom aide at the Sandy Hook school.

Marsha, who lives in the Chicago suburb of Crystal Lake, said that Nancy had home-schooled Adam after pulling him out of the Newtown public school system. She did not know when Adam had left school. According to former classmates, Adam had attended the local high school at least through part of 10th grade.

BTW there are what is known as ‘safe storage’ gun control laws by state. Do not know if CT has them.

If Obama (and Bloomberg) are really concerned about GUNS in public, rather than the PUBLIC with guns, they should begin by getting rid of all of the evil guns carried by their security details. Lead by example.

I wonder if the Secret Service is disarmed when Obama goes into a “gun free zone” school to give a speech. It would make a good press-conference question. (Actually, I don’t wonder—hence my tag line).

Volunteer? That’s my guess.

Looks like problems may have been escalating. I wonder if some of those guns were for her own protection from her son. The seemed quite isolated.

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/12/16/nyregion/friends-of-gunmans-mother-his-first-victim-recall-her-as-generous.html?_r=0

“She was really kind and warm,” Mr. Leff said, “but she always seemed a little bit high-strung.”

He declined to elaborate, but in a post on his personal Web site, he said he felt a distance from her that was explained when he heard, after the shootings, “how difficult her troubled son,” Adam, “was making things for her.”

She was “handling a very difficult situation with uncommon grace,” he wrote.

I'm not talking about you or I posting here on the Free Republic echo chamber. I'm talking about those millions of others out there who don't see any good reason why we should own semi-automatic firearms and high-capacity magazines. Their guy won the election.

Incorrect. That was legalized.
