Unfortunately, the plumbing issues are not quite solved. Mrs. Mac Nessa has done the repair job - I have great difficulty in getting down into the basement because of the weakness in my legs. I've been going out and buying the parts. She got the sump pump properly installed, but the crappy 35 year-old pipes leading to the discharge are breaking up. she made two good repairs with the assistance of our youngest, John Man, but there is one joint that has failed, not due to her work. In the morning, I am again bound to the home center to pick up what hopefully will be the correct part. John Man took pictures with my cell phone of the offending joint and we should be able to get the job done. I will probably have to work late again tomorrow to get my hours in - got off tonight at 8:00 - got home at about 9:20.

You have a good crew there, Mac.....good idea about taking a picture. You can just show the plumbing folks what you need. “I need one of these.” My new phone has picture capability, but I haven’t used it yet.

Thanks very much, Kathy! I don't trust pvc piping. I have no idea how long it's supposed to last, but with acid rain, etc., I suspect that it is not going to endure. We've lived in this house since 1989 - it was built in 1978 - and we've have lots of problems with the plumbing - pinhole leaks.
