NBC News asked D.C. police for a high-capacity ammunition clip to use as a prop on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” show, a request District authorities said Wednesday they denied.
But host David Gregory appears to have obtained one anyway — and then displayed it on national television. Now D.C. police say they’re investigating whether the District’s gun laws were violated in the incident.

It’s not clear where the prop used during the show was obtained, or who obtained it.

Any request to use a magazine would have been turned down as a matter of course, the official saids, because it would have implicated police in an illegal act.

Would a ban on high cap magazines stopped this? I doubt it. Remember that Maurice Clemmons murdered four police with a .38 revolver.

All the time he was waiving that magazine around, he was also deriding the VP of the NRA for advocating armed guards at schools. Of course, he never mentioned that his kids go to a school where they have eleven (11) armed guards and that doesn’t count the armed secret service agents at the school because Obamas kids go there also. Maybe he borrowed it from one of the many armed guards at NBC, his child’s private school (Sidwell Friends), his bodyguard, the Capitol Police or the Brady organization.
