NBC was told by the Washington, D.C., police that it was “not permissible” to show a high-capacity gun magazine on air before Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” according to a statement Wednesday from the cops.

If they’d have taken-off the mag’s baseplate, removed the springs and followers, I wonder if it’d still be considered an illegal 30-rnd mag, and against the law? Just curious.

What ever happened to the Heller decision from the Supreme Court toosing out D.C.’s gun ban? Was that just for fun?

so whats the big deal about showing a clip on tv?

It's illegal to be in possession of a 30 round magazine in D.C. where the studio is located.

I heard that too, he was fried.

Sounded a little drunk, but definitely high...probably had some medical-grade pot...thus the faggot-like giggles.

it wasn't a clip. It was a magazine. Not that Gregory would know the difference. He broke the law in DC, while he probably thinks he is above the law, like most liberals. It is ok for him to have a banned magazine, while making the point (however weakly) that there should be an assault weapons ban.

Fine him and throw his ass in jail. Maybe he will meet some nice people that want to take a shower with him, and then he may understand why individuals have the right to bear arms.

Pleading ignorance of the law is not something that criminal courts regard as valid.

That's the old United States. This is the new, "Cronyism United States" where if you're friends with the right people, things get "taken care of" like in Chicago - only at the Federal level...

I don’t understand why the MPD issued a statement about refusing NBC permission to use the prop. I’m glad they did, it keeps the game alive, but it’s out of character.

Great post.

The Chicago mob takes DC, and it’s not a fantasy show....unfortunately.

I am very curious as to where he got the magazine.

Perhaps it was a private security guard, at one of the network’s affiliates in a neighboring state...further demonstrating the hypocrisy of the stunt. I hope this thing goes to court.

Like Reagan should have been sent to prison for waving a bag of crack in the Oval Office. This is a stupid story. We should be pointing out the stupidity of the law.

I like the idea of forcing the commie chimpy-boy to point out the stupidity of the law better.

So will the law be applied without regard for the “status” of the offender? of course not. The liberal elite gets one treatment, but normal people get the shaft.

>> Much as I detest David Gregory, I’m more concerned with the fact that a city has that type of draconian law.

Show no pity for the elitists. Only when they hang from the gallows they build do they realize their criminal insanity.

There is a big difference between the chief executive of the United States, who has the Justice Dept. reporting to him, than a liberal journalist like Gregory. Law enforcement routinely shows drug evidence. Gregory needs to pay the consequences of breaking the laws that he supports. Reagan wasn't above the law. He was the law. Gregory thinks he is above the law.

The ironic part of the story is that liberals can't comprehend any reason why a high capacity magazine can be used for anything else than mass murder.
