“I just wrote my “republican” congressman and reminded him that he is “political toast” if he raises taxes one penny . I told him to NOT raise the debt ceiling and no way support a “Bisex.. Partisan “ anything.”

Good for you!

Likewise, I called our Congress Critters and told them (well, their voice mail) the exact same thing. They do this, and my party affiliation is going Independent!

If the GOP goes along to raise any person's taxes, I hope the party goes extinct!

A statesman needs to stand up and call his bluff.

Not only are they spineless, but dumber than a box of rocks. They should have voted on a plan in the house, sent it to the senate and let the senate look like the bad guys as they vote it down. In four years the right has never submitted a budget. “they would vote it down” I say to them “so f&^%$#g what, submit one anyway, it shows that the right at least has a plan”. The right looks like a bunch of bumbling idiots and the press and the left are loving every minute of it.

If Boehner had any cojones (and he doesn't), then he would remove the venue----the House of Representatives is under no obligation to provide Presidents with a forum from which to deliver the State of the Union Address. It's done as a courtesy, and heck, Boehner ought to tell Obama to just send it up to the Hill, and a clerk will read it into the record, just like they used to do before 1913, thereby meeting the Constitutional requirement to "give to Congress information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient."

If Zero wants threaten and harangue Republicans in a public speech, then he can do it with his buddies down at the National Press Club.

Yep, another article with “Bi-Part” (for both Federal D.C.- Structure Shakedown Parties), where the People are extorted from.

Just like the fake Massachusetts ExtortionCare candidate they put forth.

He's always been an arrogant SOB. However, of late, he's getting down right scary.

I sense a new Hugo Chavez-like "leader" style is emerging.

RE :”A pre-Christmas Wall Street Journal article walks readers through the failed negotiations, and two recurring themes are woven throughout: (1) Obama has zero interest in meaningful concessions on his end, and (2) Obama is supremely confident in his ability to stick Republicans with the blame if the economy slides off the cliff.”

No doubt he will succeed, as he did with all the others.

Dems are sure that Bohner will pass a bill that most House Republicans hate. It is certainly easy to picture since all O has to do next year is demand middle class tax cuts.

"boehner should have passed whatever bill he could in the house and sent it along to the senate"

But...but...but...Repubs think this is a "chess match" instead of nuclear war (Which the dems are engage in).

Republican leadership = inept fools

strange isnt it, the ego of one man, perfectly willing against all reason to wreck the US economy for his ideology .... versus the GOP House

these guys never figured on dealing with a potus who was willing to shoot the hostages if he could blame the other side for political gain, and having the entire democrat party go all Fredo on the American people

“By 2016, if America still exists, you will not recognize the nation. It will no longer be a Republic of the people, for the people and by the people. It will be a socialist dictatorship, established by executive orders and a stupid population that will probably turn the House over to the communists and the end is here.”

We’ll know for sure on November 5, 2014...

Washington games.

People expect their benefits to be maintained, to have their taxes kept low and to avoid austerity.

Republicans can’t cut benefits and Democrats can’t raise taxes. So we’re in a Mexican standoff.

The country will muddle through through the next “crisis” in Washington.
