Bold Action to Protect the Second Amendment
12/30/12 | ez

Posted on 12/30/2012 5:41:02 AM PST by ez

DiFi has made her move...check. Now it's our turn.

Part of the problem we have in defending Second Amendment rights in this country is in the intensity displayed on either side of the argument. We have to match their intensity. We play the game on defense, allowing the left to call for our murder, propose draconian bans on regular arms, and push for un-Constitutional remedies while we try to defend instead of matching their effort. This is how they keep creeping the ball toward their goal inch by inch as we compromise our milquetoast efforts with their ravenous zeal. NO MORE. I'm tired of being pushed and it's time to push back. The BLOOD OF OUR ANCESTORS DEMANDS IT.

Since Feinstein and Pelosi have laid down their agenda for gun control, we must also articulate plans and legislation that move the ball in our direction... back toward the true meaning of what a well regulated militia really is.

This means we should be looking at 1) rolling back gun laws that have failed, like the '94 assault weapons ban and the 1968 GCA 2) expanding CCW in every state and every locale 3)establishing better reciprocity between state for greater ease of personal firearm travel 4)educating the masses of the true meaning of the Second Amendment 5)actually calling forth the militia from time to time to establish lines of communication and protocols for its' use 6)looking at state laws that restrict law-abiding citizens of their rights. I was amazed to learn in my state I could not carry a loaded .22 in my car!!!

With this in mind, we should be establishing a series of steps to move toward a nation of responsible, armed citizens as was established 200 years ago.

Step One, to my mind, is to immediately declare the Gun Free School Zones Act a failure, and introduce legislation to repeal it.

Step Two is to pass a sense of the House resolution that acknowledges before the nation that the Second Amendment is NOT about hunting, or even home protection, but is the guarantee that the People will always be armed as protection against standing armies and tyrannical, criminal government.

Future steps will reveal themselves and should also be taken on a state by state basis, but should be just as bold, and shift the debate back into the center where it belongs...stop playing on THEIR side of the field.

With this in mind, I call for one or more Republican Congressmen or Senators to introduce the Repeal of the GFSZA and Purposes of the Second Amendment Act as soon as possible.

That's where we come in. Let's get on the phone's, and get these officials to act. Do you want to fight the socialists now, in the media, and on the phones, and in the halls of Congress, or do you want to fight them later in your front yard when they come to confiscate the very tools of your existence as free men?

A start ~ a return to the full scope of 'keep and bear arms' as it was understood in late medieval times might be wise ~ that's in your first paragraph lest you missed it.

In days of old when knights were bold and firearms weren't invented they had to show up at least once a year to have their weapons inspected ~ that included whatever armor you had, your horse, your horseshoes, your personal armorer and iron smith, men at arms ~ if any ~ and swords, picks, axes, knives, truncheons, trebochets, and, possibly even a CANNON ~ such things being the personal possessions of a man who had 'the right to keep and bear arms'.

Those without that right were riffraff with no right to have any of those things. In fact they couldn't even go to a king's court to complain about an issue ~ everything went up through the lords and nobles.

Point being, 'the right to keep and bear arms' turns every American into a noble with every privilege nobles ever had including the right to take civil disputes to the government's courts.

I"m willing to show up at a militia meeting once a year to keep it all!

I'd love to call your Rep. Unfortunately, MY Rep is the insufferably effete ex-Goldman a**hole Jim Himes who recently said that TX Gov. Rick Perry has "blood on his hands" because he supported the Second Amendment.

I already called Himes. Considering how the conversation went, I don't think they want to hear from me again.

Maybe ~ maybe not. We are all members of the militia, and there are obligations associated with that. Even if all you have is a large pointed meat cutting knife, that's an arm you might need to show your local militia captain.

The militia can self-organize. I was thinking that one item we'd like for folks to have at any militia meeting is a DD214 ~ that way we can use veterans instantly to give us a military bearing and structure ~ rank and all.

All others then fit in that structure with our vets leading battalions, companies, platoons, squads and fire (or other) teams.

I think your take is wrong.

In fact, we have been advancing on the 2nd amendment issue, particularly on the state level. Concealed carry, open carry, permitless carry, laws to carry in places formerly forbidden.

Look at the reaction to Sandy Hook. People snapping up guns, teachers getting gun training, jurisdictions wanting to arm teachers, etc. and so on.

So what I’m saying is that this isn’t steady encroachment, this is a desperate grab for power, backed up with media hysteria. Meaning that, yes we must fight it, but fight it correctly. Desperate acts of putting it all on the line come with a risk that if you fail, you take many, many steps back in the process.

An all out definitive effort will break their backs and drive them back to their holes, creating a vacuum that we can exploit. Right now hit them with everything we got, get down in the mud, diffuse, defer, distract, delay, and bury, but also be prepared to make hay on the other side of this.

Main thing is not to get the cart before the horse and stop their current effort cold, then move ahead.

Removing the GCA of 1968 would be a good idea, followed by a repeal of the NFA of 1934. The former is a violation of the 2nd Amendment, and the latter is a violation of the 2nd and 14th Amendment (it effectively restricts legal machine gun ownership to the rich.)

It is vital to not just fight a defensive action, nor only fight back on one front. Victory is achieved if you can open a second important front against your enemy, where they are not prepared with a defense.

In this case, conservatives did try a counterattack, my calling for reform in mental health care. But this was a weak second front. Instead, they should mount a major attack in favor of expediting the death penalty.

Start with three demands:

1) Federal judges can no longer overturn a state death penalty on a technicality or information not germane to that trial, only by exoneration, proof of innocence. States will be considered “expert” in the means they use to carry out the death penalty, so this means of execution is no longer grounds for appeal.

2) All federal death penalty appeals advance to the front of the federal docket, and delays in the proceedings are limited to one month each for the defense, the prosecution, and at the judge’s discretion.

3) Appeals will be consolidated into a single group, unless an appeal is based on exculpatory (clearing of guilt) evidence.

The bottom line to this is that ending the death penalty is, like gun control, a major priority of the leftists, as well as having considerable overlap with violent gun crime. So opening a “second front” right now would force them to divert resources *away* from gun control to prevent a streamlined death penalty executing murderers in a year or two, instead of a decade or more.

There’s a part in the book where the lead character, Henry Bowman, makes an, “If I were GHW Bush, I would say this,” speech at a gun range get-together.
It was during Bush’s re-election.
Basically, it was about how gun rights have been eroded, how government seems to want to create criminals, how abuses by the BATF are shameful.
And that he would eliminate NFA 1934, GCA 1968, and restore what we never should have lost.

My attitude is that any man too dangerous to own a gun is a man too dangerous to walk free. I have no problem with felons owning weapons because a huge proportion of felons are non violent offenders.

A violent offender will be violent whether he has a gun or not. About a year ago a local cop was run down and killed by two recent parolees who were robbing a bank. If a felon wants to get a gun he'll get one anyway as the guy who ambushed firemen on Christmas did.

Well, like most things, someone smarter than I has already thought of it and called for it. I agree with this approach. We need to take bold steps instead of play defense on their proposals. An earlier poster said to open up a second front, I am saying hit them behind their front line by attacking their base. First call for repeal of the GFSZA...yesterday.

Obama defies congress and the voters. He and his bandit democrats refuse to rein in spending. Congress lacks the backbone to hold Obama to any budget or restraint.

So let the people show every one of them who really has the power. Let the boycotts begin. Stop buying. Stop contributing. Stop spending. Stop paying into the corrupt tax system. Arm yourselves. Start under-withholding all taxes from your pay (be sure to save it to pay later though). Be sure you have enough ammo. River City is just up the road. Tell all congress and senators they are dung-heels. Quietly defy everybody.

Great Plan overall, but the Republican Party is quadraplegic and absolutely gutless and just plain dumb! In the firm control of elites, it simply “cannot” do what you wish (above statement). It is simply time to circumvent them and form a third party. Then, those in the Republican Party that care to, and have the spine to, can join in each particular piece of legislation. Someday too, when the Democratic party implodes, a new third party can pick up a few votes there too.

YOU ARE 100% CORRECT.

We must go on offense. Step one as you have stated is to STOP perpetuating this nonsense that the Second amendment is about hunting or personal protection. It's about protection from GOVERNMENT!

The reason we need assault rifles and military weapons is to protect ourselves from government. When governments come for your liberty they will not bring a revolver, they will bring a machine gun.

Move the ball forward. Demand repeal of the the GCA and the NFA. All federal gun control laws and BATFE rules are unconstitutional.

I just want to cringe every time I hear someone on our side say we need ARs for personal protection and competition. Horse Hockey! We need them to protect us from government and they need to be M-16s not ARs.

SAS Sergeant Danny Nightingale faces losing home to fund campaign for justice

An SAS sergeant jailed for illegally possessing a war trophy may be forced to sell his home to help fund the campaign to clear his name

By Sean Rayment, Defence Correspondent

7:10AM GMT 30 Dec 2012

Comments35 Comments

Sgt Danny Nightingale is mounting a challenge in the Court of Appeal to his conviction for being in possession of a Glock pistol and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

He already faces a legal bill of more than £100,000 for the appeal over his sentence, which reduced the 18 months’ military detention imposed by a court martial to a 12-month suspended sentence.

Sgt Nightingale, an SAS sniper, had been given a pistol by members of an Iraqi special forces unit that he helped to train.

Good point, and well made...

IMHO, you are both right and make good points...How to proceed?

We should concentrate immediate efforts to stop their current grab as you point out, and once that’s stopped then concentrate on roll back as ez suggests...

Humble suggestion: The key is a full court press to stop the grab, and then rollback with our pro-2nd Amendment Reps and Senators...Hold their feet to the fire...

What’s that the pols say? “When I feels the heat, I sees the light...” Or some such...Keep up the pressure...

A letter is considered by the pols to be worth several phone calls or emails because of the effort involved...

Letters to my Rep and Senators go out Monday morning, backed up with phone calls...

Another dimension of the “Soap Box”...

Our “Ballot Box” efforts have failed us for now...So let’s exhaust the “Soap Box” before we turn to talk of the “Cartridge Box”...
